Mermaid Arc: Chapter 8. Reimon's plan.
Valoran and Reimon are standing opposite each other in the silence of midnight, only the water from the fountain interrupts that silence.
“Your world is peaceful. After the defeat of Daimos by your hands, people are now able to enjoy a carefree life without the God's oppression…” Reimon smirks in amusement delivering his dialogue.
“...Is what you thought I would say.” Reimon is laying out a threat.
“What is the meaning behind your words?” Valoran is eager to find out if other threats are lurking in the shadows.
“It's simple, your Kingdom is far from safety.” Reimon explains with a more serious tone.
“Daimon was a King of Gods, that is true, but just like there are multiple Kings in the mortal worlds, there are multiple Kings in the divine realm…Daimos was on the weaker side when compared to other God Kings. Not to mention that there are Gods who serve no God King and still exceed the power of many of them. I am one of those.” Reimon reveals new information Valoran has never heard of.
Valoran hearing this is beginning to realise what Reimon has said about the Kingdom being far from safety because Daimos was not the greatest threat he would come to face.
“Daimos offered me his throne but I declined, I didn't want the hassle to rule over other Gods. I was surprised when I learned that a certain Magic King defeated him. No mortal should be able to defeat a God King. Yet you did.” Reimon is visibly interested in Valoran’s power for being able to defeat Daimon.
“Let's cut to the chase. Why are you after Queen Limeneria?” Valoran has enough of Reimon's talk and gets to the main topic.
“Not a fan of talking. Well, let me ask you this…Do you know what makes Mermaids so special?” Reimon smirks, grabbing his chin, and asking the question in an amused tone. It's obvious to Valoran that Reimon is stalling for time.
“I know Mermaids have unique fragments, the fragments within Mermaids can go through a cycle of reincarnation linked to a hive.” Valoran got this information from Limeneria.
“That's right. Normally if your fragment is destroyed you are forgotten by everyone because the idea of you being gone reincarnation is impossible, you experienced this when you fought Daimos.” Reimon is referring to the time when Valorans fragment was destroyed and as a result, everyone had forgotten him.
“But…Mermaids are different, they have the unique ability to reincarnate even if their fragments are destroyed as long as the hive exists. Limeneria is that hive.” Reimon reveals calmly.
“That's something she has not told me.” Valoran is not upset at the fact that Limeneria hasn't told him this, he knows that this is sensitive information that shouldn't be shared with anyone.
“Mermaids are some of the rarest species in the cosmos, this is one of the reasons this world is sought after.”
“That still doesn't explain why you are after her.” Valoran is firm on this subject and wants to get the information out of him quickly.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
“Relax Magic King, I need to build up tension before the grand reveal…” Reimon is mocking Valoran, to the point that Valoran is becoming frustrated.
“Gods can regenerate even if their fragment is destroyed. That's because Gods are the embodiment of a certain idea in my case Water, as long as the idea of water exists so shall I. The problem is that if someone possesses enough power to negate that regeneration it would mean the end of the Gods, Gods and Titans depending on the power they have can do this.” Reimon is drawing out his explanation but Valoran has a good idea why Reimon is after Limeneria.
“Now I understand, you want to ensure that you can reincarnate even if your regeneration is negated.” Valoran points out.
“That's right, the hive would allow me to reincarnate even if I am unable to regenerate my fragment. I would rise above all Gods and Titans. I will become a God amongst all Gods.” Reimon says in a historical tone smiling with his eyes wide open like he has gone insane.
“You will merge your fragment with hers, destroying her life in the process.” Valoran cannot stand by and allow that to happen.
“A small price to pay, she should feel honoured that she is chosen to support a God.” Reimon has no sympathy for Limeneria, he is no different from most Gods, lives don't matter to him.
“Not only will that kill Limeneria but without her the race of Mermaids would come to an end.” Valoran is stating the obvious, without Limeneria to enable the cycle of reincarnation Mermaids can no longer reincarnate.
“And…What's the problem with that?” Valoran is getting furious by the lack of remorse, he talks about ending a race like it's nothing.
“I will allow you to do this. If you want Limeneria then you must face me first.” Valoran is making it clear that he will support the Mermaids no matter what happens to him.
“I had no idea you would put your people in danger Lord of Magic.” Reimon smirks, it's clear that he has accounted for Valoran's involvement.
“Are you threatening my people?! I would advise against that.” Valoran is boiling with rage.
“No need to raise your voice at me, we don't want to wake up the residence.” Reimon does not care about Valoran's outburst.
Reimon turns to the fountain staring at the water.
“Now, that depends on your actions.” Reimon grabs a single drop of water.
“You know how much energy is contained inside water? People underestimate how powerful water can truly be, with this drop, I can flood your Kingdom, drowning your people in despair.” Reimon puts the drop back into the fountain.
“I'll strike you down before you can even raise your hand.” Valoran gives a threat of his own.
“Let's see if that's true.” Reimon grabs another drop of water.
Valoran at that moment lunges forward standing before him and grabbing Reimos by the throat.
Valoran squeezes his throat tighter and tighter.
“Nice grip…” Reimon grabs Valoran's wrist.
Reimon removes Valoran's hand from his throat.
“I have to admit, you are stronger than I originally thought.” Valoran cannot maintain his grip, Reimon's physical strength is too great.
“Now let's end this.” Reimon's body is beginning to turn into water.
A puddle of water lands in front of Valoran's feet.
The puddle begins to move behind him, reassembling to Reimon.
Reimon is standing behind Valoran.
“I believe we should end our meeting for today. I have stalled for enough time by now.” Reimon says with a cocky tone, his purpose was to stall Valoran, drawing him out of the castle away from the Mermaids.
Valoran begins to smirk.
“I cannot believe that you think I would be foolish enough to not see through your pathetic plan.” Valoran is mockingly saying to Reimon.
Reimon for the first time is enraged by what Valoran has said.
“Who are you calling pathetic? As of now, your castle is under attack by my trustworthy subordinate, I believe you have met her before, it's Nari del Bevero, a goddess of trickery.”
“As we speak she is at your castle and by now killed all your pathetic soldiers who desperately tried to defend Limeneria. By now Nari would have retrieved her.” Reimon looks at Valoran who he expects would be in despair by now.
But when he looks at Valoran that's not the case. He looks calm and begins to smirk.
“Is it funny to know you have lost?”
Reimon says in frustration. Reimon does not welcome Valoran's attitude.
“No, what's funny is the way you are underestimating my subordinate.” Reimon opens his eyes wider as he listens carefully and tries to understand what Valoran is saying.
“What did you say? Pathetic subordinates?” You Gods are all the same, you underestimate mortals and the weak, you think just because you wield more power means you can oppress those who do not have any. What you fail to see is how resilient those who you claim are weak truly are.” Valoran lectures Reimon who looks eagerly at Valoran to what he has to say.
“My subordinates prove time and time again that they will do whatever it takes to protect the weak, they prove time and time again that they have no fear if it means protecting the weak,” Valoran says while Reimon is listening.
“One of them however stands above them all. He is strong, loyal and has a kind heart, he is someone whom I trust with my life and he is someone I know will ensure the safety of everyone at the castle including the Mermaids.” Valoran looks at Reimon who looks confused.
“No matter how strong this person is, he cannot face against a God.” Reimon smirks, feeling relieved that Valoran was talking about a mere soldier at least that is what he thought.
“No, no matter how strong Nari del Bevero is…she cannot face against my right-hand man.” Valoran counters.
(Meanwhile at the castle)
Nari enters the throne room where Demonlise is awaiting her.
“I suppose you are the one sent to retrieve the Mermaids?” Demonlise says with a calm voice.
“Are you going to stop me?” Nari, walks closer toward Demonlise.
“By all means give it your best shot….”
