7 "Intrigue"

CHAPTER: 7 "Intrigue"

"In this vast multiverse, of course there will be at least one of them."

Hearing the answer I had expected a smile formed on my face. Seeing me feel better Blue rose from her place.

"Okay, let's get going fellas." Shouted Blue while turning towards the exit, after relaxing my mind as I rais......

"Huh?"

THUD!

My face was smooching the ground and my vision went blurry, voices around hazy and all the energy in me drained. Laying on the ground unable to move, I blacked out.

*********

As my eyes gradually opened I found myself in a place devoid of any light, scent and space, there was no sound, there was no color and above all I couldn't even feel my body. It was like floating underwater but without the feeling water resistance, truly a plane devoid of everything or that's what I thought until.

"Ah! There you are, it took you long enough." A soothing voice of a woman echoed in this empty space. Looking around I couldn't find the origin of the voice, well if I could see anything at all that is.

"Whom are you looking for my dear? Is it that blue haired nitwit or perhaps...... me?" Her question still echoing in this plane she continued. "No need to look around, you won't be able to see anything either way and to be frank I am inside your head, you see. Well, if you feel uncomfy I can just project myself."

While I was processing what she was talking about a figure, a slender figure started to emerge in the void.

A tall slender woman, her facial features obscured by deep illusory fog (similar to Dream), only revealing her moist red lips that formed a gentle smile giving off a creepy, but beautiful vibe. Wearing a purple garment, beautifully patterned with gold. She looked like the Goddess of Night, her clothes depicting a moonless night sky.

"Hello Grey Wolff, I suppose it's not our first meeting, is it?" The lady greeted, her voice soothing and her mannerism refined.

"Well, to be honest I don't even know who you are." I replied, not interested in what she wanted to talk about.

"Grey Wolff, born on October 29th of 2005 and died on February 15th of 2022. What a short life have you led, oh how sad it is to see a young soul like you die an untimely death." She kept on continuing her agitation, her voice full of pity but her smile told a different story.

"What are you trying to achieve." I asked while squinting my eyes at her. Her words were not exactly false, I died an untimely death and had regrets. But, since I am still capable of thought it means I am still living, not in an actual sense though.

"Well, what could I achieve from a spirit of such low caliber." She asked in a tone of 'don't overestimate yourself'.

"Who knows? Maybe you are trying to break the balance of the wor........" Before I completed my words I realized something was off, my train of thought too narrow from my usual sense.

'Why did I assume that in the first place? Why was the first thought that came to my mind was her trying to achieve something?'.

As the thought dawned on me black smokes started to rise from my body, it was in small amount, but it still proved that the being in front of me was not a normal existence. I slowly turned towards the lady, my mind trying to understand what just happened.

"So, what were you trying to say?" She asked, her lips making a slight curved motion while she sat on an invisible chair in this devoid space.

"J-just what are you?" I asked her, knowing very well that engaging with her was a bad idea. She looked towards me in intrigue, nothing, she didn't reply for some time and before I could ask further she finally opened her mouth.

"I am ??¿?????" It was blank, I couldn't understand what she said, as if her name was concealed by this world. "And since I was bored, I just thought it would be fun messing around somewhere, and you are one of those entertaining people. Grey Wolff the city where dead breath their first is going to be destroyed very soon."

Her words slowly started to fade in the void, but before it was completely gone a last message was delivered by her.

"You think that blue haired girl is a good person, huh? Think again. No creature can be a good person if they are working as a Reaper, well, you are the only exception. Death isn't just a rule to obey, my dear, it's a perception. How we view it shapes how we navigate its presence. Instead of blindly following the mandate of mortality, seize its essence and redefine its impact on your life."

I was not getting what that lady was trying to say, but something clicked in me urging me to hold onto her and as I tried to grab her a current hitted me.

*********

I jolted up after feeling the shock, my mind completely hazy.

I tried to remember the dream but it was too hazy to remember.

Looking around I found myself in a cabinet. The colors were vibrant, so vibrant that it made me uncomfortable.

Out of all the colors it had to be pink. I lamented while raising from the seat where I was sleeping, sweat were forming on my forehead and neck making me feel uncomfortable.

"You are finally awake!" An energetic voice greeted me with the swiping sound of the sliding door of the cabinet. Behind the door stood my new companions their face full of anticipation and of course there was Blue as carefree as ever.

As I saw the people before me, I knew that these people where now my new family.

"Blue..." I said before pausing and pinching my nose bridge.

"What is it Grey?" Blue replied innocently pushing aside my other companions.

"Where are we, and why is it so hot in here?" I expressed my curiosity and stated my inconvenience while I corrected my posture to sit more comfortably.

Blue flinched a bit taking a step back before replying awkwardly. "Well, a-ah we are inside a train passing through a desert." Her words were barely audible.

I took a deep breath and said very calmly. "Why are we even inside a train passing through a desert!!!"
