"Sir Jorr... It seems like your output was a little.... Under the charts..."
"What does that mean?"
"An average person who has trained a minimum amount of time can release an output of more than a third of the orb...."
The lady all of a sudden went to the orb, placing her hand on it, and without any effort, the orb lit up and showed a blue hue, engulfing the whole orb in a single second.
"This kind of output means you can pursue being a mage, it typically depends on the color of the orb, but other colors can indicate sub-classes also."
I looked at her with a blank expression, trying not to show my emotions.
"And that output of yours can only be graded an F, in terms of the rankings here..." The lady said, writing something on a piece of paper near the orb with an expression that was surely mocking me.
I turned around feeling embarrassed while I tried to act cool and collective by walking around, my arms crossed, staring at the lady.
*"This is really not my day!"*
"With that output... You are an F ranked adventurer!" Her usual voice and demeanor came back as she walked towards me, handing out the paper she filled out for me.
"Please fill out your name and class here and give this paper to the room next to us, and they will give you your badge!" The lady smiled, her disgust hiding behind her smile as her eyebrows twitch.
"Is this all that I need to fill out?"
"Yes! Just write your name, alias, or anything you want to be called officially! Don't forget the class!"
The language on the paper was different, I was shocked that I was able to comprehend the writings and symbols on it.
*"Maybe it was because I analyzed the alchemy book back then..."*
I filled out the paper, double checking the writing before I gave it to the lady.
"Hey, is this alright now—" I turned my head, suddenly the lady was gone, the door was open, but there were no traces of her being in the room.
*"Welp, It's all me again."*
I began walking towards the exit, peeking to the left before I entered the hallway.
*"I think this is the room she was talking about"* I took a long stare at the door before making up my mind to knock.
Tuk... Tuk....
I knocked on the door with an interval, making it look like I wasn't rushing.
My heart was thumping all of a sudden, I wasn't really good with offices because I was very introverted, but I somehow managed to open the door without sweating all over the place.
The first thing that caught my attention was the scenery of the room, ornaments with all sorts of designs covering the room, with large bookshelves filling up the emptiness of the room, at the center was a table filled with papers and books, and the last thing I could notice was a person sitting on a wooden chair.
Compared to the loud and enthusiastic lady that accompanied me, the man was very quiet and calm, wearing a pair of glasses, his messy hair covering a portion of his head, and wearing a black robe that resembles a priest.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"Hi... ahhh.. Hello, I came to give this piece of paper from my aptitude test." I said, walking towards him, his legs crossed while he was reading a book, sipping from time to time from his mug.
I stood across him, his head still not turning from the book he was reading.
"Hello? I was told to give this paper to this room."
Finally, his head turned towards me, slamming his book close with force as he gently placed it on the table.
"I heard you the first time... Is that a way to start a conversation... without actually introducing yourself first." He said as he fixed his glasses, taking a long stare at me with a blank expression.
*"Woah, calm down Mr. sassy..."*
I scratched the back of my head, taking a deep breath before I said anything.
"Hi ughh... My name is Jorr, and I came to give this paper." I said with confidence, placing the paper on his table.
He swiftly grabbed the paper, turning around again as he began sipping from his mug.
"Jorr.... A botanist...... I am afraid the community garden is in another street....."
He said as he placed the paper again on the table, pointing the writing towards me.
"I am not sure what you meant... I came here to become an adventurer."
"I am sure with what I said, this is not a place for a botanist." His eyes were staring at me, with an intent to kick me out of this room.
"Do you even know what being an adventurer means..." He said as he stood up from his chair, suddenly walking towards the window at the end of the room.
"What exactly does it mean..."
"Let's say there was an emergency.... a village nearby you was suddenly raided by high level monsters.... You.. A botanist... responsible for the lives of that certain village...."
"What exactly would you do in that situation......"
I was speechless. I felt an uncomfortable, familiar feeling. It was the fear of answering back. The same feeling when I talked to my parents back on earth.
"I..."
"A class focused on supplies and herbs... Taking on a job of a front line class... Are you trying to make a fool out of me." His voice suddenly became louder.
He faintly muttered a word, and all of a sudden the room was filled with black mist, the air wrapped around my body like a cobra, I felt great despair as every second passed in the room.
*"WHAT IS THIS, I CAN'T MOVE."*
My body was stuck in place, I couldn't move a single muscle because of the killing intent he released.
"This is a basic spell I cast.... It creates a room filled with killing intent.... Only an expert sorcerer can dispel this.... Or.... can you overcome this aura and break through this spell...."
I was hopeless. I couldn't do anything, my whole body was paralyzed, and the only thing I could see was his back.
Time was passing by slowly, I struggled, it felt like hours had passed by. I did not give in, my mind was focusing on escaping.
Something finally snapped inside of me, I was tired of being pushed around because of my class, and the urge to finally stand up to myself was taking over my mind.
I screamed loudly, the loudest I ever screamed, focusing my strength and spirit to break the spell.
In what felt like hours of focusing, the black mist suddenly disappeared, and I regained the senses and movement of my body.
My head felt dizzy, but I quickly regained my sight, I couldn't see clearly, but it seemed like the man was sitting again on his chair with his arms crossed.
"So you broke out of it I see..... only 30 seconds had passed, but to you it felt like hours...."
*"30 seconds??.... I struggled and almost died??.. and only 30 seconds passed???"*
"You have proved to me that you can indeed become an adventurer.... But I will only allow you in support commissions.... Don't rush yourself, Jorr.....
He stood up again, stamping the paper I gave him and finally giving me a badge of my own.
"Here, It's your badge, its only wooden because you are currently an F rank...."
"Knowing my name isn't important, but it's Lance.... Come back here if you have any more inquiries or if you were promoted to a higher rank...."
"Thank you for this opportunity, Sir Lance!!!, I'll come back here even stronger!"
I shouted, thanking him for not rejecting my application.
"Don't push yourself...."
"But say.... You're not from Egaria are you...."
