Chapter 5: Again?

Chapter 5: Again?

The conference room was filled with all powerful people from Pure Sky Corporation. Brian glared at Elena and clenched his teeth.

"Did you just know what you did?!" He screamed. Elena just ignored him, not wanting to deal with his rampage. "Elena! Listen to me!" Brian called out to her without using any formality. He walked up to her, his steps heavy from anger. He grabbed her by the arm, and forced her to look at him.

"Do not touch me Mr. Sil-"

"You are a disgrace to this company Elena! How could you do that to a player? Your actions have gone way overboard this time." Brian spat in her face. Elena gasped and then shook off his arm.

"How... dare you Brian? I worked hard for this company for twenty years. I worked hard to create all the programs and that little girl just walks in and basically insulted everything I did for the past twenty years. She SAT down when I was giving her, her options. She asked me ridiculous questions that everyone who has been playing games should understand. She was ignorant in everything! Pure Sky Corporation made sure to tell everyone that they had to read the informational book before entering Pure Battle Haven!" Elena retaliated. Although old in appearance, Elena was still like a child mentally.

She had a high sense of pride in the work she did. She couldn't take Lett's attitude when she just came in and seemed so uninterested in the game that she took twenty years of her life to create.

"I don't care how she acted Elena, you shouldn't have changed her gender. You shouldn't have killed her when she first spawned. You shouldn't have done anything you did, and because you did we are in this situation!" Brian said. Most of the room nodded to what Brian said as they look at Elena with disapproval.

Takeshi was entertained at the scene before him. Takeshi has always loved dispute when it happened to other people, but he knew he had to step up for this one.

"Now, now Mr. Silvers, how about we all calm down for a moment. We all know that we cannot change a character's gender however, we did give her some amazing stats. We all know here that most players start with a health of [900/900] and MP [600/600]. She got quite a lot if you compare it to the average. Also all her stats are double digits other than Leadership. Most players also start with single digits, and we gave her elemental resistance in all the elements. Also we gave her the Identification Skill at Master level. Besides the gender problem, I think that we gave her quite an advantage for her survival."

"But Mr. Hi-"

"Mr. Silver, I think we should just see how things work out first. You did see that the girl continued to play despite her frustrations. Maybe she will come to like the change." Takeshi said. Brian couldn't say anything back as he knew they couldn't change anything anymore, however Brian had one more question.

"Mr. Hill, what do we do with Elena? She started this problem and I think that she should get a higher consequence." Brian said. Elena stared Brian with her mouth opened, clearly offended. The others only nodded to what Brian said.

"Mr. Hi-" Elena started, but was stopped.

"Mrs. Joseph, I will have to give you some time off from the company for a while. If this went out the world then our company will have a bad reputation. Sales will go down, and eventually we will have to shut down then." Takeshi said. Elena looked him with her mouth wide open, and then looked down sadly.

"I understand sir, and I apologize for my rash actions," Elena said quietly before exiting the conference room. Everyone sigh out of relief. They all knew that Elena was extremely intelligent, but they also knew that her feelings always got ahead of her.

Dawn walked with the group, with his shoulder slumped. He didn't feel like playing the game anymore, but he wanted to see this through to the end. Siegword, could feel his depression, and he placed a hand on Dawn's shoulder.

"What's wrong young man?" He asked. Dawn looked up to Siegword, and stared into his crimson eyes. Then he looked back down and sighed.

"Nothing, it's just that I am a bit frustrated and tired." Dawn said. Siegword took his hand off Dawn's shoulder, and looked at Dawn with worried eyes.

"I'm very sorry young man. I didn't mean to hurt you that much. " Siegword said.

"No no no. You didn't do anything to make me upset. I mean the punch did hurt, but I should thank you for making me realizing the truth." Dawn tried to clarify. Siegword let out a sigh of relief that he wasn't the on causing him to feel depressed.

"Then what is the problem young man?"

"It's just... I didn't expect to face death so quickly." Dawn let out a sigh. Sieword decided to cheer up the young man besides him. He took out a ring from his pocket, and grabbed Dawn's hand.

"What's this?" Dawn asked as Sieword slipped the ring onto his middle finger.

Dawn stared at the tiny stone that was placed in the middle of the ring. He looked in it at awe seeing many different colors. Dawn have never seen anything so beautiful in his life before. His mood instantly brighten as Dawn loved colors more than anything. If I could see more stones like this, then maybe this game is worth playing Dawn thought as he brushed his long fingers over the small stone.

Sieword smiled, happy that Dawn seemed to be happier. Maybe this young man can become my student he thought as he watched the happy Dawn admire the Opal.

"That is a gift from me to you. By the way I am Siegword and I am a high elf." Siegword held out his hand. Dawn shook it and smiled.

"Thanks for the gift Siegword. I am Dawn, and I am human." He said still smiling. Dawn let go of his hand, and then the thought finally hit him. Did he say high elf? Isn't he a blood elf? Dawn looked at Siegword, and seeing that Siegword was still looking at him he just smiled.

Dawn was confused but he decided not to say anything just in case it endangered his life. Dawn looked up to see the boy looking back at him nervously. When the boy saw that he was caught staring at Dawn, he turned his head forward. Dawn just shook the look off and they continued walking.

**********************************************************************

A couple hours passed as they continue to walk, and Dawn has learned a lot about Marco and his family. He decided to talk to them after he couldn't bear just hearing footsteps.

Dawn learned that Marco is the son of the Chief in their village call Norado. Norado used to be a wealthy village but due to droughts, and famine the village become poor. Many villagers moved away leaving only a few who was loyal to the village to stay. Some of the villagers died due to illnesses, but the majority of them died because of starvation.

Being the son of the Chief, Marco knew that his duty was to find food for the people in his village. He was set on going alone but his wife and son, Lillia and Sado, wouldn't let him go on his own. Marco had no choice but to take them to find food for their village.

They went to different forests to find food, but they never traveled to far into the forest due to fear of monsters. They collected all the food they could, and thinking they could take a shortcut through Siegnordo forest they entered the forest.

They met Siegnord, but they trusted Siegnord. Back in the day elves helped their village many times, and so they felt indebted to those elves. They thought that Siegnord was also a kind elf like the others that helped their village.

They were too naïve as they were then captured by Siegnord, and was about to be eaten by him.

"We didn't know we would become his food. It was our first time encountering an elf that ate humans," Marco said with a horrified expression on his face.

"He's not an elf," Siegword said from hours of being silent. Dawn turned around to see a scary expression on Sieword's face. "He's a disgusting monster called a BodyEater. He takes form, and skills from a creature that he has eaten." Siegword hissed.

The group went quiet as they felt the hatred in Siegword's voice. It's a good thing I am not his enemy was all that Dawn could think. The rest of the walk was entertained by stories Marco heard from his childhood.

It was nighttime, and the group decided to settle down for the night with Siegword keeping watch. Dawn was glad that they finally decided to stop and rest for he was tired from walking. Dawn decided that he needed to log out and get a snack or something.

Lett took the Visionary Helmet off her head, and then pushed button so the pod would open up. She stepped out from the pod, and looked at the clock. It was 4:00 when she started playing and now it was already 5:24. She let out a yawn, and then went to the kitchen.

On the table she saw a note from her mom. It read Honey when you see this your father and I will be at your aunt's house. We didn't want to disturb you from your birthday present. Much love, Mom. Lett just shrugged as she stuffed herself with the Kimbap.

After Lett ate about two rolls of Kimbap, she decided that she should go back into the game pod. Lett wanted to paint the opal ring she got from Siegword but she didn't examine it long enough to paint it yet.

It was 6:05 and Lett set her game pod to sleep mode. She entered the game pod, and pulled the Visionary Helmet over her head with a slight smile on her face.

Dawn opened his eyes, and a shiver went down his back. He looked down to see Siegword holding a knife up to his throat just an inch away from his neck.  He looked up to see Siegword staring down at him with the murderous face that he had on earlier.

Am I going to die again? Dawn thought as he saw Siegword lift the knife up and swung it down.
