Chapter 4: First Quest

Chapter 4: First Quest

Dawn just sat there she- no he shocked at the realization. He breathed in and out trying to stay calm. Stupid game, was running through his head. How did you confuse my gender?! Why?! I SPECIFICALLY TOLD THE BLONDE CHICK THAT I WANTED TO BE A FEMALE!!!

He grabbed his hair until he remembered that he could view his stats.

"Stats," he said. A screen that only he can see appeared before him.

In reality, Lett had no problem being a male. She was perfectly fine with it, except now she was angry. She was angry at the fact that she will never be able to see how she looks with blue hair and green eyes again. The only thing that actually made Lett come back to this was how she looked. She has always wanted blue hair. The green eyes were a nice change for her, but she didn't mind the brown.

Dawn picked himself back up. He wiped the dirt off his pants, and tried his hardest to keep calm. It didn't help for he was too angry to keep it bottled up inside.

“AAAAHHHH!!” He screamed in frustration. The villagers, and even Siegword were stunned for a couple seconds. Dawn screamed for the frustration that he had to go through because of this game.

He died right when he was spawned, and not only that they got his character completely wrong. His face grew red from screaming, and his veins were popping out of his neck. Dawn only stopped when he had no breath left.

Dawn ignored the popup window. He didn't seemed to care much for the game anymore, since it had nothing left to offer him. He has had enough of the game, and was going to logout until he felt a hand on his shoulder. Dawn turned around to see Siegnard with an apologetic expression on his face.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

"I'm sorry for punching you boy. I didn't expect that you will be so angry," Siegword said. Siegword, a highly intelligent NPC, thought  Dawn was acting like that because he punched him. Siegnard realized that it was wrong of him to punch him, because he just faced a life and death situation. Also Dawn helped him earlier, or he would've died by Siegnord's hands. Dawn just looked at Siegnword with a confused expression on his face. Dawn had totally forgot about the punch until Siegword mentioned it. Rather than being mad at Siegword for punching him, he was mad that the game was screwing around with him.

Dawn didn't know how to reply to Siegword's apology as he wasn't mad about that. Instead Dawn wanted to thank Sieword for telling him that he was a male, and not a female. It gave him a better reason to stop playing the game.

"Umm... excuse me," a voice said from behind Dawn. Dawn turned around to see the man talking to him. "I'm sorry to be troubling you at this time, but will you be willing to escort my family and I home?" He asked with worried eyes.

The Road Home

Marco and his family was trying to find food for their poor village. On their way home from getting food, the evil BodyEater abducted them. Escort Marco and  his family back home.

Difficulty Level: D

Warning: Quest fails if one of the family members dies or you die.

Reward: Intimacy with Marco and his family

Dawn wasn't in the mood to do anything other than leave the game, however he felt a sense of responsibility. Since he set these people free and helped them, he felt that he had to help them to the end.

"I don't know if I will be able to help you with anything, but I promise you that I will make sure all of you guys get home safely." Dawn said sternly.

      You have accepted the quest.

The man smiled at Dawn with hopeful eyes. A tear rolled down his face, and he wiped it away.

"Thank you very much young man. Thank you." He said with sniffles. Dawn felt glad that he accepted the quest, however he also felt uneasy about the whole thing. He wasn't even at level 1 yet, and he had to escort them. Dawn didn't want to fail his first quest, however he knew it wasn't going to be easy.

"Will it be alright with you if I also help escort your family home?" Siegword  said. Dawn turned around to look at him. Siegword's expression showed that he was sincere and genuine in wanting to escort them back. The man however looked at Siegword with a shocked expression.

"Please my lord, you have already saved my family and I already. I don't want to go through the trouble of having you escort us home also." Marco said with a bow. Dawn felt slightly irritated that Marco sounded like only Siegword helped them out. Although all Dawn really did do was fight the rope that bounded them to the tree, he still felt like the man only mentioned Siegword helping them.

"I did that out of my own will. If you were to refuse my help now, I would feel more offended." Siegword said to Marco. Marco shook his head furiously and looked up at Siegword.

"No no no no. I did not mean to offend you in any way my lord. I just didn't want to burden  you with the task of taking our family home. We will very much appreciate your presence with us, but we don't want you to waste your precious time with us." Marco tried to clarify. All Dawn felt was daggers being continuously thrown at  him. They didn't want to burden Siegword with the task of taking them home, but they would burden it with me? He thought as tried his best to control his expression.

"Then I shall also escort you and your family home," Siegword said with a kind smile on his face. Dawn just glared at him as Marco was thanking him over and over again.

Marco and his family - after thanking Siegword many times - started to pick up their luggage. Each of them was carrying a basket on their backs. Each basket was filled with foods, and seeds that their village could plant. Marco also explained to Dawn and Siegword that it would take three days for them to reach their village.

Dawn groaned inside himself. He didn't want to be stuck in the game for 12 hours. He couldn't do anything though, because he had already agreed to the quest, and he didn't like leaving things unfinished.

Luckily for Lett, she could use the PureSleep option. The PureSleep option comes only with higher tech pods. The PureSleep allows someone to be sleeping yet playing the game at the same time. The body will be resting in reality, while the mind will be in the game.

All of them decided to set off right away. They wanted to get out of Siegnordo's Forest as fast as they could. Dawn didn't want for Siegnord to appear again and somehow kill of them this time. Also, Siegword reassured everyone that Siegnord would not be coming after them. Siegnord couldn't leave the forest.

All Dawn just wished for was a safe trip, and maybe some levelling up if possible on the way escorting them back to their home.
