Chapter 2: The Elf

A week has passed and Lett still haven’t touched the game pod. She didn’t want to face dying again, and she didn’t like the feeling of falling. Her parents began to feel sad as they weren’t expecting her reaction to be like this.

They thought that she would be happy about getting a new game pod, and that she would be enthusiastic to play the game pod. They both knew that Lett loved the arts, but they wanted her to act more like people her age sometimes. It was already summer break, and Lett wouldn’t have school for three months.

Lett’s parents didn’t want her to just continue painting. They already hung so many of her artworks around the house, that they were running out of space to put them. Lett’s mother set down her chopsticks, and looked Lett in the eyes.

“Scarlett dear, do you not like the present your dad and I gave you for your birthday?” Lett’s mom said in a worried tone. Lett set down her spoon with soup still on it, and looked her in the eyes. Lett didn’t liked to be dishonest to her mom, but she didn’t want to hurt their feelings either.

“It’s not like that mom, it’s just… well I haven’t got the time to read the informational book yet,” she said. Lett tried to come up with any excuses she could to avoid playing that ridiculous game.  Lett’s mom just smiled, and picked up her chopsticks. Lett also smiled thinking that her mom has finally moved on about it. She also picked up her spoon to continue eating the soup.

“Well then Scarlett I expect you to finish that informational booklet, and start playing that game by today.” Lett’s mother slurped up some noodles. Lett gave out a cough, and food came out of her mouth.

She grabbed a nearby napkin, and begin to wipe herself with it. Lett couldn’t believe that her mother was actually trying to make her play a game. She secretly rolled her eyes before excusing herself from the dinner table.

Lett let out a groan as she picked up the informational book. She began to page through it with a bored expression. After she figured out all the basics like stats, NPCs, bosses, monsters, leveling up, experience points, and the rest she decided to get in the pod. Lett also figured out that the whole goal of Pure Battle Haven was to become the ultimate ruler of the entire Pure Battle Haven world. The person who has the most authority, and power.

Lett wore less clothing this time as she entered the pod. She didn’t want to get up like last time with her clothes damped with sweat. Lett just wore a t-shirt, black shorts, and knee high socks. She included the socks because she read somewhere that socks keep your body warm. The pod slowly closed on her, and Lett placed the Visionary Helmet over her head.

Dawn opened her eyes, and she could feel herself standing on sturdy ground. She stomped her feet on the ground to make sure that she wasn’t just imagining anything. She let go of the breath she was holding and sighed, relieved that she wasn’t falling from the sky this time.

Dawn looked around to check her surroundings. She didn’t see anyone, or anything that seemed to indicate she was in a city. The book said that each person will be randomly spawned somewhere like a safe zone usually by, near, or in a big city where they can get help. The person can also immediately start battling and gaining experience of they wish to do so.

Dawn also learned that one hour in the real world was six hours in P.B.H. The book gave an explanation about how this was possible due to the programming of the Visionary Helmet making time seem slower to the player inside the game.

She sighed as she sat down on the ground, and rested her head on her chin. She knew that her mother wanted her to have fun in the game, but she didn’t know what was so fun about this game in the first place. After a while, Dawn decided to stop pouting and to actually do something instead of wasting her time sitting.

She got up, and scanned the area. There was grass beneath her feet and a slight wind current blowing in her face. It carried her shoulder length hair back. Dawn turned around slowly making sure to take in everything she saw.

She stopped, frozen in spot as she saw smoke rising in the air. Dawn smiled, and decided to head there to see if there was anything. She ran there as quickly as she could.

Dawn reached the forest that had the smoke trail in less then three minutes. She was in a hurry to meet something else and find something entertaining in this game. Dawn rushed inside the forest to see what was started the smoke.

When she was a couple feet away from the campfire, she saw an elf in an armor suit. Dawn smiled for she was happy to finally see someone. She waved her arm while still approaching him with light steps.

“Hey!” She called out. The elf looked up, and gave her a smile.

“Hello there,” He said back. The elf flashed her a smile. If any other girl saw that smile, they would’ve start to blush immediately for the elf was so attractive looking with his olive skin, red eyes, and blazing red hair. Instead Dawn just put her arm down, because she got tired from waving.

Dawn kept approaching the stranger with a bucket load of questions. She had hoped that he would be able to answer them. The elf just continued to grin widely, waiting patiently for her to come.

When Dawn finally reached the elf, her jaw dropped wide open. Her eyes widen in fear as she saw what was behind the elf. There were three people tied to a tree all of the with a terrified expression on their faces. Dawn looked at the elf, and she could see the basic information about him.

The name of the elf is Siegnord, a level 85 NPC with a health bar of [300,000/300,000 HP]. Dawn knew that this boss would be easy to defeat if she was a higher level, but because she just started the game she knew that she wasn’t even at level one yet.

Dawn turned back on her heels, and began to run for her dear life. She could hear the chuckles of Siegnord as he came after her. They were a couple feet away when she took off, but Siegnord was already right behind Dawn.

Her arms flung back and forth with her legs jumping as fast as they could. Dawn couldn’t get away from Siegnord as she felt his slender fingers grab onto her shirt. She let out a yelp as she felt herself get thrown backwards.

Dawn’s back hit the tree, knocking the air out of her before she slid back down to the ground.

Attacked by Siegnord, The Ruler of Siegnordo Forest, CRITICAL HIT. Health -936

Dawn was panting for air as she saw her health bar show [63/1,000]. She knew that she couldn't defeat the strong elf even if she tried.

Dawn could see his evil smile as he came running up to her with his black sword pulled out from its sheath. Dawn could only think If I die again this quickly, I am sooo not going to play this game again and she closed her eyes waiting for the pain to come.

It didn't, and she wondered why it took so long. She opened her green eyes slowly.

CLANG! CLANG!

Dawn could not believe the sight in front of her. Not only was she still alive in this game she thought was a waste of time, she was watching two elves attack each other, except it wasn't a normal battle. Both of the elves had the same identical appearance, using the same identical sword,.

She thought that Siegnord was just fooling around, playing with her before actually killing her before she saw the name on the other one. It read Siegword a level 90 NPC with a health bar of [300,000/330,000 HP].
