Chapter 3. A family

After Sitting in his fathers car for hours upon end, Elliot finally saw his house, and couldnt wait to see his mother and his sister, whom he wanted to play with. The house was big, but at the same time not too big. It didnt stand out from all of the other houses in his small neighborhood, but it was something to look at. As his father slowly parked his car in their garage, and lifted Elliot from the car onto a wheelchair. The wheelchair was a standard wheelchair that could be seen in hospitals all the time. The hospital gave the wheelchair to serve Elliot as his own temporary wheelchair. After setting him down, Elliot looked at his door and saw it was elevated on a tall slab of concrete, Elliots father put his wheelchair on breaks and went inside of his house. Once he had returned, he had a makeshift ramp that was just a slab of wood. When his father began to push him up the ramp, it slipped and made the wheelchair fall back down again, jerking Elliot forward and making him want to scream out of terror for a moment and his heart feeling as though it was about to burst. Once the ramp was put back in place his father put the wheelchair on the ramp again, only this time, Elliot was frightened and didnt want to do it again, but he couldnt voice his complaints as his throat was still burning.

Once Elliot was finally in his house, he was rolled to his mother who was with his baby sister, once setting her down in her crib, Elliots mother looked at him and gave him a hug. When she was hugging him, Elliot felt happy, but at the same time angry, why couldnt he wrap his arms around her and give her a hug, why couldnt he just walk up the steps instead of being jerked back and forth again and again, why? While thinking of these things, Elliot accidentally started to drool and his mother jerked back and looked at him with disgust for a moment, before taking a napkin and wiping herself off again. She then focused her attention to his sister which confused Elliot, why had she not resumed her hug, why did she look at him like that. These things pestered Elliot, but before he knew it, he was being placed in his bed, he realized it was very late and decided that rest was what he needed.

Elliot awoke to the feeling of sandpaper in his throat, and realized he needed to get some water, as he began to get off his bed, he realized that he was not moving at all. He tried to shout out for his mother or his father, but all that came out was a painful loud gargling. Once his mother and father awoke, they came to him with their eyes filled with insomnia and a feeling he had never seen before when they looked at him, irritation. He tried to tell them that he needed water, but all they could do was just look at him, not knowing what he wanted. This happened for more than a few minutes before Elliots throat hurt so much where it felt like there were knives scratching his throat, and he had to stop. Elliots parents were confused, from their point of view, their son started screaming at three A.M, and stopped only after a couple of minutes. They didnt know what to do and they were tired so they decided to head back to bed. Elliot slept sleeplessly uncomfortably and thirst that night, with his throat tormenting him.
