Chapter 58: Spar

The Lord brought Eli Shan and Luise to the practice field, where numerous young teenagers were diligently practicing their sword swings.

As they saw the trio entering, all the students stopped practicing and bowed down before them.

The Lord acknowledged them with a nod, gesturing toward Eli Shan. "This is my son, Eli Shan." Then, turning his attention to Luise, he continued, "And you have already met my wife, Luise."

The students nodded with excitement. "Yes, teacher," their eyes scanning Eli Shan from head to toe, trying to discern what was special about him. Apart from his striking beauty, they saw nothing extraordinary about him.

Eli Shan also observed the students, noticing that the strongest among them had reached the eighth stage of the Qi Gathering Realm. However, he could sense that their sword cultivation was much higher than their realm suggested.

As he was lost in thought, his father interrupted, smiling at him. "Do you want to fight with them?"

The students gasped in shock. The teacher was asking his three-year-old son to fight against them? Perhaps he wanted his son to understand the strength of those outside their home? After all, a man sheltered by others is like a flower grown in a greenhouse.

Eli Shan nodded eagerly, his small face brimming with excitement. "Yes, Father, I want to spar with the seniors."

His father nodded. "Go and take a wooden sword." Then he turned to a student. "Li Bai, you will fight with this brat without holding anything back. Teach him a good lesson." His eyes swept over the others as he commanded, "Everyone, give them space to fight."

Li Bai was shocked upon hearing his teacher's command. He was at the fifth stage of the Qi Gathering Realm, and his strength was considered significant even within the village. And now, his teacher was asking him to fight a three-year-old who didn't even have a speck of cultivation?

But rejecting his teacher's order was not an option, so he nodded, stepping out from amidst the students and looking down at little Eli Shan, who was barely as tall as his waist.

Eli Shan cupped his fists respectfully. "Have mercy, senior."

Eli Shan's polite attitude gave Li Bai a good impression. Li Bai's stern expression softened as he nodded gently before saying, "I will do my best to guide you through our duel."

Eli Shan grinned, displaying his small, white teeth. "Thank you, Senior."

The Lord stepped between them, commanding, "Take your positions... and... let the fight begin!"

With that, Li Bai rushed towards Eli Shan, throwing a punch without using any weapon.

Eli Shan stood in his sword stance, ready to counterattack. However, as he saw Li Bai running at him, he felt as though Li Bai was moving in slow motion.

"What's happening?" Eli Shan whispered in bewilderment. "Is this because I was a former Origin Realm cultivator? Or is it because I am integrating with my universe?"

He couldn't really guess, but it seemed more likely to be the latter.

Soon, Eli Shan saw Li Bai throwing the punch. This punch was so slow to him that he could dodge it even while sleepwalking. And that's what he did! He slowly moved aside, dodging the punch as if it were nothing but a breeze of air.

"..."

"Huh? He dodged it?"

"Was it a coincidence? How could he dodge senior brother's punch so easily?"

"Yeah, I guess it was a coincidence."

"Still, dodging senior brother's punch means our teacher's son has great potential."

Everyone thought it was a fluke. After all, a child dodging the punch of an adult expert in martial arts seemed implausible.

Li Bai came back to his senses and without wasting any time, he threw another punch towards Eli Shan without holding back.

This time, Eli Shan counterattacked. He also rushed towards Li Bai, dodging his punch mid-air before throwing his own punch with the power of wind intent.

"Puff"

As the punch landed, Li Bai was hurled backward in a lightning speed, collapsing to his knees and vomiting blood from the impact.

"What?"

This time, no one thought it was a fluke. That punch... just the wind impact from it sent shivers down their spines!

At this moment, all of them looked at Eli Shan with solemn expressions. They didn't know what to think or say. This little kid had shattered all their experiences and understanding of the cultivation world!

In this world, even a minor stage of cultivation could make a gap that one could find it hard to fill even whole of their life. And here, This little kid who had yet to start his cultivation journey had beaten a person at a much higher realm than him as easily as beating a little kid.

At this moment, everyone's minds were racing with the same thought: The teacher's son is a monster!

Eli Shan stood on the field, looking at his fist with a dumbfounded expression. "What just happened?" he whispered.

He hadn't truly used much strength or wind intent in his punch. However, just as he threw the punch, he felt as if the whole universe was trying to enhance his power. If he hadn't controlled his strength at the last moment, he wasn't sure what would have happened to Li Bai.

As the battle ended, Luise ran towards Eli Shan and embraced him. "Little Eli, are you fine? Are you injured?"

"..."

Eli Shan shook his head and smiled. "I am fine, Mother."

His father came and massaged his head with a proud grin. "My son is really strong. Why don't you try to fight my eldest student with a sword?"

Eli Shan nodded happily. "It would be my honor, Father."

The Lord laughed heartily. "Haha, my son knows how to talk! Hahaha." Then, turning his gaze toward the students, he called out, "Lu Gong, why don't you spar with my son?"

Lu Gong stepped forward from the crowd of students and bowed. "As you say, Master."

The Lord nodded before walking to the side, instructing, "Both of you will use wooden swords. Neither of you should go overboard."

The Lord tossed wooden swords to them, which they caught effortlessly. Turning to the Lord, they bowed. "We will follow your instructions."

The Lord nodded in satisfaction. "You may start the fight."

With that command, Lu Gong, who was in the eighth stage of the Qi Gathering Realm, dashed forward and attacked with his sword.

Even though he was fast for a Qi Gathering Realm cultivator, to Eli Shan, he seemed to move in slow motion, as if he could take a nap in the meantime. No matter how swiftly Lu Gong attacked, Eli Shan dodged with ease, as if strolling leisurely.

The spectators were awestruck. The master's child could effortlessly toy with their eldest senior brother!

They all knew how strong Lu Gong was. Besides the sword teacher, he didn't listen to even the principal. In this village, he was considered the strongest figure after the Lord. Yet, Eli Shan didn't even blink while dodging his strikes!

Eli Shan continued to evade, occasionally counterattacking with his sword. This time, he used no special power or intent, relying solely on pure sword strikes. However, Lu Gong, using his cultivation coupled with the swordsmanship taught by the Lord, did not back down.

As the fight went on, Eli Shan realized that without his cultivation, intent, or special powers, he wasn't significantly better than Lu Gong. Initially, he thought he could defeat any of them as an ordinary human without using special techniques. But now, he understood that he had been overestimating himself. The cultivation realm was not something he could easily surpass, especially when restricting his strength.

As their swords clashed incessantly, he realized something more important. "I have not really practiced swordsmanship much. What I did was absorb sword intent and polish my own sword intent and sword aura. Looks like I need to train my actual swordsmanship."

The fight was not truly intense because both were holding back. Neither wanted to hurt the other. It wasn't that Eli Shan couldn't win; if he truly wanted to, he could have ended the match with a single strike filled with his sword intent. However, he didn't want to reveal his true strength yet, lest people doubt his origins.

After a while, Lu Gong's sword reached Eli Shan's neck. Eli Shan extended his hand upward, surrendering, "Mercy, senior. I lost."

Lu Gong hesitated before bowing. "We will fight again when you are serious."

Eli Shan smiled and nodded. "Yes, we will."

Clap. Clap. Clap.

The sound of clapping echoed across the practice field.

"Principal," the students murmured, bowing down.

Eli Shan glanced at the principal and then walked to Luise, who greeted him with a gentle smile and began to massage his head.

The principal sized up Eli Shan and smiled. "As expected of the son of the Lord. You are truly extraordinary."

Eli Shan looked at him with confusion. Even the principal referred to his father as the Lord? What was his father's real name? Was his name "Lord"?

Misinterpreting Eli Shan's confusion for shyness, the principal continued to praise.

The Lord approached the principal and sighed. "His sword skills are still lacking because he has never practiced with swords."

"Huh?" The students gasped in amazement.

"He's this good with a sword without ever practicing?"

Even the Principal was shocked, thinking the Lord might be exaggerating about his son's abilities.

Then he turned his attention back to Eli Shan, sitting before him and smiling gently. "Your name is Eli, right? You are destined for greatness, just like your father. Do you know that your father is the strongest sword warrior in the entire region?"

Eli Shan looked at his father in shock. Really? But wasn't he only at the Qi Gathering Realm?

The principal's chest puffed up with pride as he praised the Lord. "Your father's cultivation might not seem impressive compared to others in the region, but if he were to wield his swords, even Soul and Body Formation Realm cultivators would be nothing in front of him."

Eli Shan was genuinely surprised this time.

"With peak Qi Gathering Realm, he can fight against Soul and Body Realm cultivators? That's incredible!"

One had to know that, from the qi gathering realm to the soul and body formation realm there is a major realm difference. One has to refine their soul and body to the limit to break through to this realm. It was not as simple as advancing from one minor stage to another, like moving from the eighth stage of the Qi Gathering Realm to the ninth.

Thinking about all these things, Eli Shan looked at his father with newfound respect and amazement. His father was not someone to be trifled with!

Seeing Eli Shan's eyes sparkle with admiration, the Lord couldn't help but feel smug. "Did you think your father was just a simple man? I am the strongest in this universe! Hahaha."

Eli Shan's lips curled into a smile as he nodded. "Yes, Father is truly the strongest."

Luise picked up Eli Shan in her arms, a beautiful smile forming on her face. "Your father is a legendary swordsman, but one day, you will have to surpass him."

Eli Shan nodded seriously. "Yes, Mother. I will focus on my practice from now on."

Luise smiled and began to play with his face, ignoring everyone around them.

The Lord and the principal exchanged a few words before it was time for them to return home.

Eli Shan remained in his mother's arms as the Lord approached them. "Shall we head back home?"

Luise nodded gently. "Yes, let's go."

On the way, the Lord thought of something and decided to impart some wisdom to Eli Shan. "My son, remember that the sword is the king of weapons. By mastering it alone, you can overcome any cultivator in this universe."

Eli Shan nodded solemnly. He was a former origin realm cultivator. However, he gained insights every time he listened to his parents. That's why he didn't want to miss even a single word spoken by him.

The Lord directed Eli Shan's attention to a distant mountain. "Little Eli, do you see that mountain? Even a cultivator at the True Qi Realm cannot destroy it."

Eli Shan nodded. He was well aware of the strength of those realms.

In that moment, the Lord produced a sword seemingly out of nowhere. "Remember what I said? Proficiency in swordsmanship transcends the need for a high cultivation realm." With that, he slashed the sword vertically towards the mountain.

"BOOM"

Eli Shan's eyes bulged out in shock.

Because in the next instant... the mountain evaporated!

So strong! His father didn't even use his intent; it was just a simple slash! All he felt was the wind being cut apart, and the force carried by the slash hit the mountain, reducing it to nothing, not even dust particles left behind. Achieving this feat required not only high proficiency but also years of experience and complete control over one's strength.

He had also cultivated the sword in his real body, but he couldn't achieve this feat even with his Origin Realm cultivation. At most, he could raze the mountain to the ground, but not with such proficiency! Moreover, he noticed that except for the mountain, not a single thing was touched by the sword strike. It was nearly impossible to believe! He could achieve something like this with the Sword Eyes technique, which involved sword aura and intent. However, his father didn't use any technique!

Seeing Eli Shan's shocked expression, the Lord smiled with satisfaction. "See, brat? Do you think you can surpass me? Just to reach my current level, you will need to practice the sword for at least a hundred years. So, do you want to learn swordsmanship?"

Eli Shan didn't even blink before answering, his breath heavy with excitement. "I want to learn, Father! Please teach me! I am willing to do anything. I just want to learn this beautiful swordsmanship!"

The Lord grinned. "Now you know how to talk."

Eli Shan continued to nod eagerly. He was determined to reach this realm of swordsmanship at any cost!
