Chapter 63 - Thalia Dracul's Worry

While Acheron was going wild in the Vamp's nest, in another part of London, the Night Queen sat contemplating recent events.

Thalia Dracul, London's most beautiful businesswoman, owns properties across the country, just like the very building where she now calls home. Out of the 30 floors of this 5-star hotel, the top 10 are solely for the True Bloods, while the penthouse suite is her residence.

She sat on her couch, her platinum-colored hair cascading down her shoulders as she sighed full of worry. Her ruby-like eyes couldn't help but moved towards the report she just received from her subordinate's investigation.

Her worry started almost a week ago when a sudden feeling of dread and sadness had overcome her during a business meeting. Ever since then, that feeling of animosity and sense of danger directed towards her and the True Bloods has increased.

But along with the danger, she also feels a sense of sadness and 'He' has appeared once again to haunt her dreams while she slumbers. It has been so long since she last felt like this, her heart has been closed off to anyone ever since she escaped from Transylvania almost 600 years ago.

She touched the necklace that currently adorned her exquisite white neck, that is her most prized possession. A masterpiece crafted by her beloved with his own hands, she remembers how she spied on him while he had spent a whole week in the forge room crafting it for her.

Oh, handsome he was as the fire was reflected off his swirling purple and black eyes.

The necklace was pure silver, with 15 of the deepest red rubies that she had ever seen. To this day, she has never taken it off, a symbol of her undying love for him but his death and the disappearance of his body from the battlefield, had brought a devastating sadness she had no choice but to close her heart to others.

She was now an ice queen to the eyes of the public, even to her race, no expressions could be seen from forever cold face of hers. Only when she is alone, like now, she lets herself show a little bit of emotion.

Her investigations on the white blur and the unknown mutant that one of her subordinates encountered have turned up with nothing. She doesn't dare let her True Bloods investigate, it may unintendedly put them in danger but instead used humans, still, they have their limitations on how much they can uncover.

She had asked for a description of the mutant they met at the club, but it seems that every time they try to recall his face, it just appears a blur in their memories. Whoever this mutant is, it appears he can mess with the memories of others.

As she was contemplating her next steps, someone knocked on her double doors before 7 True Bloods barged in lead by Vivian.

"My Queen! Please help! Its Mary, she's hurt!" Vivian exclaims.

Before she can admonish Vivian for barging into her home, she notices that the 7 True Bloods behind Vivian seem to be carrying someone. Her face already turned back to her regular emotionless state.

Mary seems to be hurt, as one of the 7 seems to be putting pressure on the wound while the others hold her still. Mary appears to be unconscious but the pain seems to be making her convulse even in her current state.

"What happened?" Thalia asks as she moves towards them,

"We don't know, My Queen! We found her behind the hotel bleeding out!" Vivian says

"Bleeding out? How is that possible? Let me see!" Thalia says as she moved the True Blood away so she can see the wound.

Thalia's steps falter and then freeze as she stares at the wound, of course, she of all people recognized it. There on Mary's shoulder is a bite mark that seemed to come from some kind of giant animal but if that wasn't enough, the black marking spreading from her wounds that were causing her flesh to rot, destroyed all doubt.

It was a werewolf bite; Thalia was 100% sure of it. After all, she had made sure to delete the one creature in this world that is the most lethal towards the Vampire race.

"My Queen!"

Vivian's shout woke her from her shock, she couldn't help but stare Mary with a slight look of pity and sadness. This woman, Mary, was dying and there was nothing they could do about it.

"The only thing that we could do is try to ease her pain now… take her to one of my spare bedrooms, we need to question her if she regains consciousness"

"My Queen? What do you mean? Can't you help her?" asked one of the women around Mary.

Thalia turns around and walks towards her couch and glass of blood.

"There is nothing I can do about a werewolf bite… she's as good as dead, she has a week left by the looks of it"

The women's hearts felt cold at their Queen's emotionless words as if their lives meant nothing to her. Only Thalia herself knew how painful this situation was to her, her heart was breaking knowing there was nothing she could do to save one of her own.

Vivian stayed behind as the women carried Mary to a bedroom before leaving the penthouse.

"My Queen?"

"What is it, Vivian?" asked Thalia as she picked up one of her reports from her company.

"Is it true? A werewolf still exists?"

"I would know a werewolf bite when I see it, the surest way to kill us, it's the reason I wiped them out and didn't care about incurring the hate from this country" sad Thalia, not once taking her eyes off her report.

"Make sure no one leaves their homes through the night, don't let a repeat of tonight happen again"

Vivian knew very well the personality of her Queen. She appears to be cold but is very warm on the inside, she can tell she cares for those under her like a family. The reason she stayed behind was so she could keep her Queen company, as she is sure that her Queen must be suffering on the inside due to her helplessness.

Vivan sat down in one of the chairs and accompanied Thalia through the night. Thalia felt grateful for Vivian's company, she didn't want to be alone, even if no other words were spoken that night.
