69: Imprisonment

I am quickly overwhelmed and surpressed, held down by multiple people.

"Tie him up!" "This little shit!" "What the fuck are you doing here!?"

Multiple shouts come at me, but another feeling is swelling up within me. Jorgen disappeared when I wasn't even there, Hannah chose to go on her own, Asger was dead before I knew it, but this. It feels like me failing right here, right now is what is killing Atna. My ineptitude.

"ATNA!" Not knowing what to do, I cry out "ATNAAA! ATNAAA!" but I hear "Shut up!" and soon a sharp pain in the back of my head makes me lose conciousness.

----------------------------------------

I wake up what I determine is not twenty minutes after, since that was the most time I think I had left before my gift would be activated. I try to get up, but can't and stumble. My legs are tied together, and behind my back, my arms too. The floor and walls made from stone make out a small room, maybe 50 square feet. The last wall consists mostly of what looks like a massive, metal door with two slits in it.

My mana should be full, so I weave bestowal as powerful as I can and try to use all my might to break free of the restraints, but it is no use. They way they position and restrain my limbs, I can't seem to get any real strength into them.

In frustration, I scream and bang my head on the wall, but quickly thereafter, there is just complete silence. I don't want this. I scream and bang some more.

After some time spent thinking about my next move, I have a hard time telling how long, the door's upper slit is opened and a pair of eyes peer through.

"Huh?" the owner of those eyes are clearly confused. "How are you already fine? Gift?"

I aim to ignore his inquiry and play the last card that I can in this situation. I came up with it while imprisoned.

"Listen up! I am immortal, you know? Tell the guy in charge, Wiyam or whatever, that if he doesn't let me and Atna go, it doesn't matter how long, but I will eventually get out of here, and then I will kill him. And if he is already gone, I will kill his children instead, and if they are gone, his children's children and so on!"

The eyes slightly widen, and the slit is shut. I don't know what will happen now, but it was the only way I could see myself still having influence.

Nothing happens for a very long time. Days even. I can tell because of my gift's activation. I am fed nothing, and but my hunger and thirst never exceeds a certain point, as I am no longer hungry or thirsty when gift activates. The only pastime I have is struggling against the restraint and doing some very awkward squats.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

On the third day, the door opens. "Have you deci-" I start asking the guard who enters, but I receive a spear thrust to my throat. The pain is excruciating and the sense of asphyxiation following soon after is somehow even worse. I try to breathe, try to get words out, but I can do nothing but die shortly thereafter.

The next I am of course back, and go back to doing my modest workout. The guard returns. "Ah, good day again." I say sarcastically. "Don't worry, I don't mind you tested out if I was immortal, but now that you know, please let us go" I try to be amicable. He is visibly shocked and exits the room and closes the door quickly.

I start thinking, hoping that shit finally goes my way. If this really works, I am gonna torment myself for ever trying to play spy and infiltrate this place. The two guards I killed didn't have to die. But my hope is crushed, the guard simply enter a few hours after, I greet him, and receive another spear to my throat.

Over the next few weeks, I get killed everyday. I don't know what they are doing. I start waking up in different rooms, then without my restraints sometimes, then with weird pieces of broken metal around me.

Then that day happens. I am no longer in the room, I can't move, can't see, can't breathe and asphyxiate quickly after waking up. This happens countless times. Each day, I wake up and struggle as much as I can before dying from a lack of air. Eventually, while I did not notice the change from day to day, I am definitely surviving longer and and longer each day.

(POV change Wellam)

"What did you just say?" This one is astonished.

The guard in front of this one is trembling. "Thi-this one thought the young man was spouting nonsense. This one didn't want to inconvenience the graceful lord."

The report this one just received was astounding. The young man, who either came to rescue the girl or kill Wiyam to disrupt the bid for the throne, declared immortality, and had sworn if this one didn't let him and the young girl go, death would befall Wiyam, or failing that, Wiyam's descendants.

The guard in quesiton brings this one these news, along with confirmation of the alleged immortality a day after the young girl has already been executed. This one looks to Wiyam. Wiyam appear frightened.

"F-father, what should this one do?"

Don't worry, son of this one, I will protect you.

I turn to the guard and give an order. "Kill and behead the young man, then place the head in a different cell." The guard brightens a little, but too soon. Once this one no longer lacks manpower, the guard is sure to be executed.

But the next day, dire news reach us. The head is mysteriously gone and the young man is alive and well in the cell with the body.

After that, a variety of methods are tried. This one arranges for the young hunter to be chopped into fine piece, to be separated into many small pieces and put in various boxes in different cells. To burn the corpse, to fill the corpse with spikes piercing every inch but nothing works. In addition, worrying reports of the young man getting a little more difficult to kill, or the young man training worry me.

In the end, this one decides what cannot be killed, must be sealed and arrange for a hole to be dug. The corpse is to be suspended by wire and molten azurite shall encapsulate it. This one will then tell the story to Wiyam, and Wiyam's children. An unspeakable evil is sealed here, and it must be kept there under any circumstances... And so the issue is regarded as resolved until the day of my death.
