When my dog decided to run out of my house and gain independence, it almost gave me a heart attack. Waffles, is there really no love between us?
Dog: No.
Also, I've been inactive because my exams are coming in a week, I'll be back after that fiasco is over.
------------------
Settling into the embrace of Naomi, the lower half of my body rested on the ground while the upper laid on her lap while the lady herself giggled nonstop, fumbling with my hair like how she always did.
In return, I hiccupped non stop, the two of us creating a weird atmosphere in the nobles party, with Nathan looking extremely uncomfortable at the side, his fingers tapping against the table.
Under his breath, he muttered with furrowed brows, "When will this stupid party end..."
However, he was quickly interrupted by the Prince that had almost captured my heart earlier, "May I sit here?" He asked with a smile.
That's no good~ say no, Nathan~
My puppy heart will be swayed~
Actually given the chance to scrutinise his appearance, I tried my best to pick out flaws, mmm he's not that handsome after all, those brows are asymmetrical, look at that 3mm disparity!
...I'm sorry.
Turning away from the Prince who was now returning my stare, I buried myself in her thigh.
"Hey, hey!" Naomi said with glossed eyes, "What are you looking at!"
"My...you are quite drunk, aren't you?" Ethan replied with a smile, his cheek resting on his hand, "Unfortunately, I'm not looking at you."
"Piss off."
"Manners, boy." He said with a snort, his previous facade of a kind, gentle prince gone.
...fumu, it seems that they are all truly demons for a reason. This...
My heart...
Is completely calm now.
Damn royalty, none of them are pure! Every one of them are black to the core! Shouldn't a princess be gentle and beautiful? A prince be riding upon a white horse with blond hair and golden eyes?!?! Isn't that how it worked?!
...eh? Where did that idea come from?
......???
I had never seen a prince ride a horse, it was usually mounts of big big beasts. Actually, I've never even seen a horse!
.....ah...this hurts my brain.
Wiggling in her embrace, I finally looked up after a while at Ethan, who was elegantly sipping a cup of wine in his hands.
And as we all sat in awkward silence, Raimen suddenly came over, sitting down brazenly, "Naomi, are you okay?"
"Tch. Go away!" She said waving her hands, signalling for him to leave, losing her usual patriotism.
"Ah, you're still quite intoxicated, do you want some water?" He asked worriedly, genuinely concerned.
As they conversed with Naomi throwing short sentences laced with annoyance while Raimen replied with worry, Ethan suddenly piped up, disrupting their one sided conversation, "What's her name?" He asked, looking pointedly at me.
"Fluff-" "Nicolai." Naomi interrupted Nathan as she waved her finger around, "She's called Nicolai."
And at that moment, the glass of fruit juice in Nathan's hand dropped to the ground as his head snapped towards Naomi, his eyes wide with shock.
"That……name…" Ethan was also wide eyed.
"What?" She asked, looking around at the table, "Don't lie, you see the resemblance too."
Not knowing what to say, Nathan stood up and said, "We're done, pardon our rudeness but it's time to leave." As he picked up his sister in a princess carry, leaving me and brother to walk behind them.
"Why are we leaving? Brother…" She muttered drunkly without putting up much resistance.
And with some hostile gazes of the party attendees sent our way, we left.
Hiccupping as I lay my head on Naomi's lap, we returned to their mansion as the beasts pulling the carriage went with a slow steady pace.
When we reached, Nathan alighted with his sleeping s sle sister in his arms, leaving me and brother to slowly follow behind him. And at that moment, an idea struck me.
My collar was removed after I turned into this form.
Naomi's unconscious and Nathan's carrying her.
Brother won't leave Nathan's side like a clingy girlfriend.
Fumu. No matter how you look at it, this is the perfect chance of escaping, isn't it.
Without waiting another moment, I turned and ran at the fastest yet softest speed I could manage, and with my constitution, my speed was terrifying.
Crossing the gates of the residence, a sudden wave of freedom washed over me as I ran even faster, and only then did the far away shout of Nathan reach me.
Ufufufufufu fufufufu.
Fufufufufufufufufufufufufufufufufufufufufufu.
I won.
Currently, it was in the middle of the night, and with only a set of clothes on me, I had no where to go.
What should I do...?
For now......I should cover my head...right? There isn't any demons around with triangular ears like mine.
As I wandered around into where the commoners lived, I started rummaging in the rubbish cans, looking for something.
And with my luck, it was trash belonging to some kind of food store, despite being commoner food, somehow......it tastes better....?!
Umu. I can't get enough of this...
There's so much food too......
It's not like this body will ever feel full, fumu.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
However as I dug deeper, a woman's shout could be heard as she hit my ass with a broomstick, "Get out you stupid thing!"
"Ah!" My head was currently in the trash can while my ass stuck out, as vulnerable as a sheep amongst wolves.
Falling deeper into the trashcan, I curled into a ball, hoping to hide myself, and seeing no point in chasing me out in the middle of the night, the woman hit the trashcan with her broom, creating a loud crash as she spoke loduly, "Get out by tomorrow, stupid kid." Before leaving.
......this was harder than I imagined.
Crawling out, I rubbed my ass as I looked around. I was in an alley way behind multiple shops, and a few shops away, a dusty old hat could be seen.
Ah, lucky!
Running over, picked it up can covered my head with it, as for my tail...it should be fine.
Pulling the stretchable hat around my head, I started to fall asleep, and hiding my body amongst a pile of rubbish bags, I slept the night away, only to be woken up by a bunch of children.
They were an assortment of ages, their small tails and horns a giveaway of their age, it was a group of children not older than 10.
Eh? What am I doing here?
"Where's your parents?" A older boy asked, bending down as he asked with a kind smile.
"Mother sold me." I replied as I looked about, I only remembered drinking that cocktail, and a bit of what happened afterwards.
Hearing my words, his eyes widened in shock as he asked again, "Then, is there any place you can go?"
Does he mean the twins' place? Fumu. I'll die before I return.
Shaking my head, I turned to leave, uninterested in the conversation. Where exactly was I?
"Ah, wait!" He spoke again, "You want to eat something?"
Umu, food? I just noticed this but......my stomach...
Grabbing onto his shirt with shiny eyes, I was lead to where they stayed, a place they called an orphanage.
Opening the door to the run down, two leveled building that was even smaller than the servants' quarters in the royal residences, a elderly woman was revealed rocking on a rocking chair as her fingers moved dlowlt to peel what ever was in her hands, throwing the peeled object into a large bag.
The bag was extremely large, whatever it contained was so much in number it was impossible for such an elderly lady to complete within a few hours.
"Mother Raighna, this child......"
"Another one?" An old woman sighed bitterly, "Luton, we can't take in anymore." She spoke with a sad tone, gently placing the peeled object in her hands into the bag before reaching for another with her raw hands.
"But..." The boy started, "we can't just leave her there."
......really? Her???
"I'm not a girl!" I exclaimed.
"Ah! Sorry, I thought......"
Currently I was wearing a shirt and pants, instead of a dress.....yet, why am I still seen as a female?
Sighing again, the old woman nodded, "Alright......I leave it to you to work harder in return." She spoke with sadness, her hoarse voice extremely soft.
"Okay." He replied simply with a shrug.
"Eh, eh!" A small girl spoke, "What's your name?" She asked with sparkly eyes.
"Fluff- I mean Nicolai." I randomly blurted out, suddenly remembering the name Naomi gave me when she was drunk.
"Nicolai...." The boy muttered hesitantly before a pure smile appeared on his as he cautiously patted the hat on my head, perhaps afraid that I would react negatively.
Ah~ That feels nice~
In return, I pushed my head up to his palm with closed eyes, though it had the hat in between, his inexplicably warm hands still felt nice.
"You're hungry?" He asked gently as he retracted his hand and instead grabbed my hand, "Come with me." Without any pleasantries, he who was simply a commoner acted like a simple child, unlike the royal brats.
"Ah choo!" A cacophony of sneezes sounded in the royal residences, inciting the worry of many servants as they feared for an illness spreading.
"Is it nice?" The boy asked, he had hesitantly offered me an entire meat bun, though he called it one, the amount of meat in the bun was rather......pathetic.
Gah, whatever! Nodding, I showed a smile as I quickly finished the bun, leaving a happy yet regretful expression on the boy's face.
Nn.
I'm still hungry.
"Are you still hungry?" The child asked, his big eyes glancing my way.
Feeling bad, I shook my head.
"It's okay, I'll get more for you, he said as he said with a smile, his hands reaching into the oversized, dirty and torn cloak he used to cover himself over the simple shirt he wore inside.
"Nn, thank you~" I replied with a similar smile before pouncing on one of the bed of the large room, he had taken the bun from under his pillow.
Nn, it's not soft at all.

[Meanwhile at the twins residence.]
"That stupid dog escaped? When will she realise that I can track her location with the familiar bond?" Naomi muttered, rubbing the bridge of her nose.
"Perhaps, never."
"Well, that'll work out for me. Just leave her with the commoners and maybe in a month or so let's go pick her up, maybe then will she realise that staying with us is the best choice." She said nonchalantly as she flipped the book in her hands while Nathan sighed next to her.
