* It was supposed to be a normal day, just like any other, but of course, I'm in a fantasy world.
Let me spell that out for you.
F. A. N. T. A. S. Y.
Now, think.
Have you ever read a fantasy story without any kind of conflict?
Of course not.
I mean, to have all kinds of intellectual beings coexist on one world peacefully?
What a joke.
Even within one race, there is all kinds of conflict.
There always seemed to be a reason for war.
When the humans first attacked five years after our enrollment into the academy, it was the neighbouring kingdom that suffered.
In the midst of the night, a bomb landed and the invasion befell the demon race.
The next day during the early noon, our kingdom was also thrown into chaos, demons of the attacked kingdom raced to us, inviting the humans to chase them.
Awoken by distant sounds of explosion, I turned to see Nathan standing at the doorway of the dorm, wearing armour on his body with a bag slung over his shoulders.
"We're leaving." he said with a worried expression tainting his usually calm face as he pulled me up and threw me over his shoulder, with brother, the size of maybe two horses, carrying all kinds of bags over his body.
Without saying anything, I knew something was wrong.
I didn't struggle, I simply looked around as all kinds of demons ran around us as we moved outside, only to see a platoon of magicians standing on the walls of the inner city, firing countless balls of magic.
Pulled up the wall, I saw countless humans invading the edges of the slums as they fended off the magic fired their way.
...oh my.
How shiny.
Ho.
It's my time to shine!
A skill I've been perfecting in the middle of the night, I can show it!
Ohohohohohoho!
Putting my hands together, I shouted, "Kameh***ha!"
And a lazer beam flew out.
OHOHOHOHOHOHO.
DIE.
In an instant, the beam destroyed the center of the wave of the humans as I tried my best to avoid the front line, where demons were fighting at.
Turning around, I saw Naomi glancing over with a slightly opened mouth.
OHOHOHOHOHOHO.
Praise me.
Grabbing my shoulder, Naomi whispered, "Do that a few more times, and we'll leave."
From a long time ago, I already knew Naomi and Nathan was incessant on leaving the kingdom, but perhaps because of their status, they still wanted to protect the people.
All we had to do, is delay the inevitable.
If we just hold down the fort, the rest of the demons can evacuate and gather more strength in the next kingdom.
After all, there are too many humans to count.
Gathering a fireball the size of an elephant, Naomi threw it lazily with a yawn.
...Oi! You almost hit your people!
I take it back...! You're just doing this for fun you demon queen!
(It's the pot calling the kettle black.)
What did you say?!
The humans were still very far away, they had just entered the slums, the largest part of the kingdom followed by the commoner district, the noble district, the royal residences and magic academies.
Suddenly, the image of the run down orphanage came into my mind.
...did they run?
Turning around, I saw the pale face of Luton, who had just came up the walls to see the chaos, his eyes locked to the general direction of the orphanage, which was already filled with humans.
Just as I opened my mouth to say something, Naomi's hand was already clenching down on my fingers, "Let's go, our men are already falling."
Turning back, I saw the demon army being pushed back as the humans fired their weapons in retaliation, and before I could even grasp the situation, I was already being pulled away.
"Lu-Luton! " I called out, grabbing his hand with my free fingers as I was pulled past him.
In a daze, he could only be pulled along.
"Get up." I was pulled to brother and thrown onto his back along with Luton and Naomi, and without hesitation, brother broke into a run.
Unlike me, brother did not have thin legs and a small body, he was strong and sturdy and had evolved into something else, instead of staying a cute little spirit fox.
I'll fight you, Naomi.
Chasing behind us, Nathan easily kept up as he supplied magic to his feet.
Tch.
I'll chop off those long legs.
"We're going to Thuthantos forest." Naomi said without hesitation.
It was a huge forest to the north, a few times larger than our entire kingdom, where beasts and faries lived in, next to the nearest elvish kingdom.

Following her orders, brother raced towards north-west, away from the east, where the humans were attacking.
Sandwiched between Naomi and Luton, I turned back one last time to see a huge wall of plants facing us a short distance away, with Ethan's silhoutte in the air.
Erecting a few more walls, Ethan turned around and flew in our direction, the sweat on his forehead giving away his lethargy despite his smiling expression saying otherwise.
Behind me, Naomi was doing the same, but what she created was walls made of compressed soil and pits of boiling water in between.
...how scary.
Looking back in front, my arms tightened around Luton, who still hadn't said anything.
"Luton." I called out.
It's been ten years since I was born, hasn't it?
It feels like all of this, was inevitable.
Ah, I just want to run away.
Burying my face into his back, I sighed.
I'm tired.
Just like that, we raced all the way to the forest, and when we reached it was already dark.
The edges of Thuthantos forest was filled with lesser beasts, creatures who were far from threatening to us.
Gathered around a relatively empty space, five walls of soil was formed around us as I created a ball of light in the middle, the temperature was too hot for a fire.
Curling up on Naomi's crossed legs, I closed my eyes for a moment, I had already changed into my animal form a long time ago during the journey.
Luton was still rather silent as he lied against brother's fluffy body but his complexion was better already, just that he was still in deep thought.
"Fucking humans." Naomi muttered as she rubbed her face with her hands, "They're asking to be killed."
"What's important now, is that we go and find the fairy king." Ethan spoke with a smile, leaning on a soft plant he grew, he closed his eyes, "Get some rest."
And so we did, until frantic knocking against the walls woke us up.
"Open up, please!"
Without saying much, Naomi waved her hands and a part of the wall collapsed, revealing a demon woman and her child.
It was a commoner, a normal demon, not a [Lesser] or [Higher], she had faintly red eyes filled with fear.
Taken aback by seeing the royalty, she bowed her head with gratitude as she apologized, "I'm incredibly sorry, but-"
"I understand, get some rest, we are leaving tomorrow but we won't be bringing you along." Naomi spoke calmly.
"...Yes, I understand." She lowered her head again before going to a corner of the cube.
"Why'd you come to the forest?" Ethan asked.
"Because the humans are heading to Asoris as well." She replied respectfully, "They intend to rest for a week first at our kingdom, but have sent forces to chase after those who heading there to thin us out."
With furrowed brows, Naomi weaved her hands in my fur absentmindedly, the spacial ring on her fingers gliding on my skin.
"Is that so..."
"I came here to avoid them." she explained herself as she cradled the toddler in her arms, looking endearingly at her child.
"I'm a soldier, I mean no harm." She pointed at the sword hanging at her waist, on the handle was the crest of the kingdom.
Jumping off Naomi's legs, I slowly walked over to the woman, glancing at the child in her hands.
How small.
Sniffing away at the milky smell, I inched even closer to see the scrunched up face of the toddler, his slightly opened eyes reflecting my fluffy face.
And in an instant, a small hand swiftly flew over and grabbed my fur.
Geh!?
How, how rude!
Hoping back into Naomi's legs, I curled up and went to sleep, but when I woke up, it was Nathan's legs that I was on.
Teleportation?! Is that it?! I have a hidden talent?!
"You're up?" I noticed Luton's gaze on me, he was currently taking care of a carcess roasting from from a fire created by Naomi, a boar like beast that was completely round with four little stubs that can barely be called legs.
"Nathan was keeping watch for the night so let him sleep a bit more."
Gently jumping off his legs, I walked over to Luton and sniffed at the pot for a second before turning into my beastman form.
Heh, after all, the stomach on this form is bigger.
"Feed me~" I inched towards Luton as I pulled a robe around me.
Lifting a piece of meat to my mouth, he spoke, "Open wide~"
"Ahn—" I opened in reply.
"...what kind of atmosphere is this?"
Hmm?
Even if there's a war, it's still important to eat! I mean, how will your body grow?!
Just as I was about to open my mouth to nag at Naomi, I noticed her disgustingly tall figure.
...Nevermind, I'll just eat myself.
Currently, everyone here other than me, was eighteen and above, all of them, are legal adults! Adults!
So, it's not THAT bad that I'm small, I mean, I'm only ten!
"Where's my share?" Brother called out from behind, smoothening his shirt.
...nevermind.
Looking around, Ethan was not in the cube, maybe he was keeping watch or something.
Everyone else was present though, except for that soldier lady.
...hmm.
Why did she leave so early? It should just be a bit after dawn. Recently, my body clock has gotten better, unlike when I was smaller, the lethargy and constant need to sleep slowly disappeared!
Recently, I've been waking up early!
Praise me!
"You're not hungry anymore?" Luton asked with furrowed brows.
"Of course not~" I opened my mouth again, I had blanked out a bit just now, how dangerous!
How delicious~
"Luton, you can be a housewife already~" I praised with my thumbs raised, "I have faith in you~"
Hearing this, he couldn't help but laugh with faint redness red tinging his cheeks, "A housewife?"
Before I could reply, two tanned hands reach over and pulled me away from Luton, "Eat with me."
Tch, needy owner.
Turning to Luton, I couldn't help but notice a hint of...strangeness? Flashing in his eyes.
Turning back to look at Naomi, I saw a faint smile on her face.
"Cough. " Ethan appeared from behind Luton, "Smells nice."
"Sit down and have some." The housewife-like Luton offered polietly, offering a portion of the meat he had cut.
"Thanks." He took it unreservedly and started eating.
Before I knew it, the entire body was eaten, even Nathan had woken up and finished the food, leaving only the bones of the poor animal behind.
"Why are we going to the fairy forest anyways?" I asked while rubbing my bloated stomach.
From what I heard, faries were mischievous little devils that played with illusions to trick other people for fun, if anything, I'd like to stay away from them, you know?!
"Hmm? Haven't you heard of the importance of alliances? By going there as royalty bearing news of possible invasion, it'll be beneficial." Ethan explained patiently with a smile as a few fragrant flowers sprung to life beneath him.
Tch, under that smile I know you have a black, black heart!
Plucking a flower from the ground, he held it over and spoke, "Isn't it pretty? I got some of these seeds with hard work. "
Apparently, his magic only accelerated growth of plants, not create them from air.
Tch, do you even know how disappointing that is?
Also, he doesn't even have any huge man eating plants! You know that purple flower from that little zombie game with the plants?! I always wanted to see them, you know?!
"Can't you sprout some pea shooting guns?!"
"?!"
