The Heavenly Wandering Sword
Chapter 5
The manager Xin Jie could only watch helplessly, Lu Xia as well as the Golden Temple Sect were not entities that could be casually offended. Someone with as high potential as Li Jian will meet his death here now at their hands. Those who were too kind in the world of cultivation often paid the price. Li Jian however was simply closer and closer to losing his temper. “I will give you this one chance to leave and save your own lives as well as the lives of your sect. You call yourself a swordsman and you dare to bully those weaker than you with a sword spirit? You truly believe your sword spirit is all powerful?” Lu Xia could only laugh and gestured with his blade at Lin Jian. “Golden swordsman, take his life!”
The golden swordsman, made up of golden sword spirit placed a hand on the handle of his blade. “You dare draw your sword?” Li Jian said calmly to the Golden Swordsman. The Golden Swordsman froze, his eyes recognizing Li Jian. “What are you waiting for? I command you, cut him down!” Lu Xia called out but the Golden Swordsman dropped to both knees on the spot. “This humble subordinate does not dare to draw his blade in your presence.”
Lu Xia froze, not expecting this reaction. Those around all could not believe their eyes. The Golden Swordsman was a Rank A sword spirit, and he did not even dare draw his sword in front of this man. Xin Jie looked and could only frown. He had sent a message scroll to Lady Bai of the Purple Pavilion. She had only arrived moments ago. “Manager, is everything alright?” She stepped in behind, appearing out of the portal she had summoned while accompanied by the two Nascent Soul bodyguards. “Lady, please, the man you gave the VIP token to.. I dare not explain it. Please see for yourself.” Lady Bai stepped forward and looked out the window at the sight of the Golden Swordsman on his knees, not daring to make a move against Li Jian.
“You are not worthy of that sword. You lack the clarity and understanding of swords.” Li Jian said, his arms behind his back as he stood in front of the three injured Spiritblade disciples, his words directed at Lu Xia who trembled with rage. “Kill him!” He yelled, the other three launching their attacks at once. “I will show you what the state of being of a sword is today.” He reached up and broke the branch off of a tree and turned to face the three incoming attacks. “Another basic move should do.” Using only the tree branch without any spiritual force, he executed the second move of the Divine Sword Dao: Sharp Edged Defence. As all three attacks came at him, he simply stepped right into it, the tree branch swinging once and the force of the swing dissipating all three attacks. The Golden Swordsman at this sight could only bow his head to the ground in respect and awe.
“What the hell is that? Call for the Elder!” The recoil of all three attacks dissipated in this manner flung all three of the Golden Temple disciples onto the ground, each coughing out blood onto the ground. “What kind of a monster is he?” Both Lady Bai and Manager Xin Jie thought to themselves. One of them broke a token in his pocket, and soon enough a portal opened and out stepped an older man that created pressure with each step. “Spirit realm!” Lady Bai gasped, it must be the senior Elder Deng Lin. “Who dares bully disciples of the Golden Temple? On your knees and wait for your deaths!” The voice of the Elder reverbed through the streets. The pressure was enough to make even Lady Bai and Elder Deng Lin cough as they struggled to resist with their own spiritual force. For Li Jian however, it felt less than a spring breeze. “What kind of a sect dares to send out their disciples to bully others?” He said in response. Deng Lin frowned, seeing not a single reaction from the man that stood there. “It was him Elder, we were teaching a lesson to the Spiritblade sect for offending us, and he stepped in. My sword spirit refuses to attack him as well.”

“What?” Elder Deng looked over and saw that the Golden Swordsman was on his knees, head bowed towards Li Jian. “It must be a great treasure of some kind, I can take it from him after I kill him.” The elder thought to himself. “Today you have offended the Golden Temple Sect. You can only blame your own fate. Your life has come to an end so wait for your death.” He said as he activated his golden tiger aura, the difference between spirit realms and the nascent soul of Lu Xia. Li Jian simply looked at him and sighed softly. It seemed that in this mortal world, the world of cultivation had gone astray.
“Let me ask you, you are an Elder of the Golden Temple sect. Your disciples bully others in the streets, severely injuring and crippling disciples of other sects. Now you come and force your spiritual pressure on this entire street with countless civilians around you. Is this the way of the Golden Temple?” Li Jian said, his arms still behind his back, holding a single tree branch as he looked at the Elder. The Elder roared with laughter. “We are the Golden Temple sect, we are true power and brute force. Even if you can defeat me, you will offend our backer.” Li Jian smiled thinly to himself. “And who is your backer?” Elder Deng laughed and drew his spear, aiming it at Li Jian. “Of course, who else but the Thousand Sword Sect.” Li Jian frowned darkly, Elder Deng mistaking his expression for fear. “You have heard of them? Then you know you have offended the wrong person. You have no choice but to kneel and wait for your death.”
Li Jian looked over at the Golden Swordsman. “Jin Jian, you will be the witness for what has happened and what will happen next.” The Sword Spirit could only look up slightly before kowtowing. “I understand.” Li Jian looked over at the Elder. “I want you to remember something Elder. I gave you the choice and gave you the option. Send a message to your sect. Next time I will not be so kind.” The Elder laughed and launched his attack, the Spirit realm powered Golden Tiger aura crushing down towards Li Jian. Li Jian steadied the branch in his hand. “Swords have no opponents. A sword cuts and pierces. That is law.” Li Jian uttered. At those words, the Golden Swordsman could feel nothing but the highest respect. This was the truth of swords.
Li Jian met the attack head on, the tree branch powered by his sword intent piercing through the golden tiger aura and spearing the Elder in his dantian, crippling his cultivation in a single strike. Elder Deng collapsed onto the ground, coughing blood as Lu Xia and the other three Golden Temple disciples could only stare in disbelief. A spirit realm Elder was struck down in a single move by a nobody wielding a tree branch. Li Jian turned and looked up at Lady Bai and Manager Xin Jie, giving them a look, letting them know that he knew they saw everything. He also knew that news like this would travel too fast. Casually gesturing up with a finger to the sky, he fired off a quick forgetfulness spell. This would affect all those without cultivation.
Those affected would pass out harmlessly, while Lu Xian looked at Li Jian in fear. “What? This is impossible.. who are you?” Li Jian looked at him and ignored him. With a single strike, he crippled their cultivation and moved on to do the same to the other three Golden Temple disciples. “I am someone who understands truly what a sword is.” He reached down and took the Golden Sword from him and sent it into his storage ring. “Jin Jian, you have no problems with this I trust?” The Golden Swordsman could only bow. “It will be the greatest honour of my existence.” “Not a single sound about what you know.” Li Jian sent a mental message to the sword spirit.
He turned to look over at the three Spiritblade disciples and sighed softly. There was so much damage, and in truth he did not know if healing them was the right thing to do. However in the moment where they believed him to lose his life, they showed the qualities that made true cultivators great. “I hope the three of you will train hard after this, and understand just how dark the world of cultivation can be.” He reached into his storage ring, retrieving three Spiritual Essence Pills. “The rest is upto the three of you.”
He would give them each one of the pills, their bodies lighting up with spirit force as they healed and broke through to the next level at the same time. However, their bodies were not used to such strong medicine and Li Jian had to suppress the effects of such pills with his own Dao force. After a few moments, the three of them were still unconscious but their wounds had closed, healing fully. Lady Bai and Xin Jie came out and looked at him, stunned and unsure of how to address him. “Please take care of these three juniors for me.” He would bow towards the two of them before leaving as he thought about how he felt hearing about the Thousand Swords Sect from the Elder. He hoped that they have not gone astray in the thousands of years since he had been a member there.
