Chapter 37

The Heavenly Wandering Sword

Chapter 37

The next few days of class progressed rather steadily. He decided to cancel the morning class of the day when the parents of his students were meant to show up. Most likely, it would be a big pain to have to deal with the various rich family members and whoever else that stopped by. He sat in the front of the elite hall on the grass and yawned to himself. “Shouldn’t you be preparing your materials to meet with the parents of your students?” Principal Fu Rong said as she sat down beside him with her usual smile. He snorted slightly. “Do you think I will spend my time telling them how ingenious they are and how amazing they are at raising such talented kids? Their talents are mediocre at best.”

The Principal giggled at the casual way he dismissed the rather outstanding achievements of his students. “Master Li, we also have a staff meeting next week as well, attendance will be mandatory.” She left him there staring up towards the heavens with a look of long-time suffering. “Perhaps my karma in my next life will be better.” The Divine Emperor would take a look through the Ever Seeing crystal pool to see what Li Jian had been up to every so often. When he saw the scene of Li Jian’s pathetic face looking up, he could only think to himself. “You dramatic bastard how did you learn so many bad traits in such a short time.”

In the afternoon, the Academy grounds were filled with the visiting parents of the students who studied here. The campus itself was filled with a lot more people than usual as even the guard staff had been doubled. To his surprise, he even saw members of the Silver Guard in the school. The Silver Guard incorporated soldiers from all the races although he did recognize the guard that he had saved earlier. He blinked a few times and turned around to avoid having any awkward conversations, but he soon heard an argument occurring nearby.

“What do you mean I am not welcomed here? I pay the tuition do I not?” There were three Silver Guards stopping a small group of demons with someone at the front arguing with them. “Tuition or not, you can’t just barge in here. Especially not as the head of the Corpse Gang.” Hearing the argument ensue, Captain Hua Hong who was previously the one that Li Jian had saved in the fight with the thief from the dock came walking calmly in as well. “What seems to be the problem?”

The three guards saluted as she approached. “Captain, this is Da Dao the known head of the Corpse Gang. He said his son is enrolled here and wants to visit him but he is the head of the Corpse Gang.” Hua Hong sighed at the headache this would surely cause. “Children shouldn’t be denied their father.” He thought to himself and walked in. “Captain this is outrageous, I pay the tuition on time every year. Why can I not see my own damn son?”

“Captain, so very nice to see you again. You seem to have recovered completely.” Li Jian said in a friendly manner. Hua Hong looked at him and there was a spark of recognition. There was also a spark of recognition in the eyes of Da Dao but his spark was one underlined by a black tinge of fear. “Oh it’s you. I never had a proper chance to thank you.” She bowed her head slightly towards him. “Don’t worry Captain, the prison cell was thanks enough.” The guards looked at each other. It was this guy. The male members of the Silver Guard had all decided together that this man was a great hero who deserved admiration. They had all heard about the way he spoke to the Principal of the Academy.

Hua Hong waved her hands and smiled awkwardly. “I am sorry about that but at the time everyone was quite suspicious, I hope you won’t think of me as ungrateful. Why are you here? Are you a student?” Li Jian waved his hand and laughed. “No no, the principal lured me here with the promise of soft comforts and tasty treats. I’m a professor here.” Hearing this, Da Dao got on all fours in front of him. “Great master please forgive my rudeness. I wasn’t aware that you were a professor here. Please spare my life.” The other demons behind him all got down as well. They indeed recognized him. “This is going to be more and more troublesome.” He thought to himself. “Soft comforts and tasty treats?” The guards who stood there all bowed their heads. This man was a true master.

“Captain, please let him see his son. He understands that he is not to make trouble here. Right Da Dao?” Li Jian looked at the demon with a smile but eyes that were as murderous as the deepest layer of hell itself. The Silver Demon bowed his head again. “Of course, great master, there will be no trouble caused today. I just wish to see my son.” Hua Hong was quite impressed with how even the head of the well-known Corpse Gang treated this human so respectfully. She smiled at him lightly and nodded towards the guards, who all bowed their heads to him. “You have our respect great heroic master.” Li Jian looked at the guards confused at their treatment of him and shook his head slightly. “I have to go meet the parents of my students so please pardon me. Dao Dao… behave…”

He would walk towards the elite hall and then sighed as he came to the entrance. There were already royal carriages that had lined up in front of the hall. He looked up at the sky and cursed his fate one more time before walking through the entrance, but he was stopped by the Royal Guard outside. “Halt, no one is allowed entry.” Li Jian grinned and bowed slightly. “The members of the Royal Guard are all so powerful, and excellent at their jobs. Since the Royal Guard denied me entrance, then I can only leave in fear of my life.” He bowed again dramatically and turned to leave before being stopped by the Principal who appeared behind him. “Pardon me, this is the elite hall Professor. I admit he is a bit eccentric but I can promise you that he is indeed a professor here.”

She smiled at him with a hint of menace as the guards bowed and made way. “Sister Fu was one of your relatives a devil? I can see the relation.” He said as she pushed him through into the hallway and into his classroom where his students were as well as their parents were. “Your Royal Highnesses, General, please let me introduce to you Master Li, the current professor of this class. Master Li, this is King Wu of the Demons. King Han of the Humans and Empress Suyan of the Witch Elves. As well, this is General Shing Yong of the Royal Guard.” Li Jian bowed with a bored expression on his face. “Welcome to my classroom. Please let me know if you have any questions for me regarding the education of these students.”

The Demon King, King Wu who was much like his two sons, a Golden Demon but with massive horns and fangs. He was powerfully built and dressed in a dark purple tunic trimmed with gold. He leaned in to look at Li Jian for a moment with a very serious expression on his face. King Han looked at him rather curiously. Although also a powerful cultivator, he was not nearly as large as the demon king. He was dressed in the same coloured tunic as King Wu but in a simpler travelers robe. Empress Suyan had an expression of neutrality as she gazed coldly at the human professor in front of them.

“Principal, are you sure this human is qualified to teach my sons? My sons will need to one day inherit my position and the other will have to lead my army.” King Han however smiled at the professor. “Master Li, I am grateful for your tutelage of Prince Han. I never thought that he would be able to step into the Immortal Realm so quickly.” The Demon King frowned slightly. “Eh? Shen Bao, I thought you said it was a real manly master that helped you break through. This man just seems like a puny farmer that walked in.”

Empress Suyan watched this expressionless before looking over at her nephew. “Duke Hao, is this the man who helped you break through?” Su Hao bowed and nodded. “Duke? They just give that away like cabbages now?” Li Jian thought to himself. As an immortal deity, Li Jian naturally does not think much of his students. He forgets in fact that his students are some of the most prominent young people of the Yao Kingdom.

There was a slight rustle as the General stood up, a hand on her sword. “Master Li, I do not know if you are capable or qualified to teach my younger sister. I do not mean so as an insult, but my younger sister must be strong enough to bear the command of the Royal Guard. I wish to see your capabilities.” The three Royals all nodded their head in agreement. “Master Li, as wise as you maybe, the prince must be capable of succeeding me to maintain the balance that the three of us have all maintained.” Even King Han wished to see a demonstration of his abilities. Li Jian blanched and looked over at the principal.

“Master Li, if you do not feel yourself capable, I would of course understand.” General Shing Yong said, her hand still resting on the longsword by her side. He shook his head however and gave her a piercing gaze. “General, how could I ever strike a blow towards you? If in the off chance I succeed, I would have tarnished the crystal gem that is your beauty. Polished finely by war and strength, I dare not raise a hand towards such fearsome beauty. My heart is stopped by your beauty and my arm by your strength.” He presented a dramatic pose of his hand over his heart with deep sorrow while his other hand reached out to open palm first, releasing a bright splash of spiritual energy that descended as bright glowing petals over the witch elf General. The room froze as no one was sure of what may happen next. Empress Suyan wondered if the General would be able to hold back her attack even if she ordered her to.

However, Shing Yong broke out in a furious blush. “How dare he speak to me that way? How could a simple professor dare to call me a fearsome beauty and shower me with rose petals. Does he think I am a delicate maiden?” Her hand shaking slightly, she sat back down while waving a hand in surrender. “Son you were right. Master Li is a real man!” King Wu said, holding out his hand in a thumbs up gesture as he smiled, his teeth sparkling in the light of the room. Li Jian finally saw where the two Wu students got their ignorance from.

“That being said, I am sure that the cold beauty who is Empress Suyan still wishes for a demonstration. However, I do not wish to be tried for treason. All of you are in Divine Realm and the Ancestor Realm. If the three of you would wish to see my capabilities, then please by all means hold out your swords towards me.”
