The Heavenly Wandering Sword
Chapter 44
The grill had began sizzling, the shape of the pancake becoming more and more solid. He cracked an egg on top slowly and grinned as the egg sizzled on the cooking pancake bit by bit. The next part was the tricky part. With his two hands utterly focused together, he used his Dao force to flip the pancake over so that the other side cooked quickly. Letting it on sear on the grill for a few moments, he quickly picked it up and placed it on a plate before smearing it with the eplem sauce and letting it cool down before rolling it up and grinned at it, biting it with a look of absolute relish on his face. It was the taste that he remembered, but he had to cheat and use his martial art to help him cook this. He didn’t have the real skills that the Masters did.
Su Lan and Shing Hai looked at their professor, suddenly having his face covered by some kind of liquid with a maniacal perverted look on his face. The two witch elves felt themselves disgusted by the sight and found themselves deeply disturbed. Did he ever look at them and imagine doing weird play with them? The thought sent disgusted shivers down their spines. What happened next surprised them even more.
Li Jian poured out two more pancakes onto the grill and then quickly sprinkled scallions and cracked two more eggs, one for each cooking pancake. “Void King Kon Wang, your presence is demanded by your master.” He said this with his eyes sparkling. His sword spirit appeared and squinted at him, wondering if his master was drunk. “Kon Kon, I have re-created the recipe of the scallion egg pancakes from Travelers street.”
Kon Wang quickly went down on one knee in front of his almighty master, his head bowed. “Your Highness, this subordinate is ready for orders.” Li Jian cackled with the madness of success and began beating his hands at the fire underneath the grill. “Blow into it! The hotter the fire the crispier the pancake!” Kon Wang quickly got on his knees in front of the grill and blew into the fire underneath, making the flames burn hotter as the grill sizzled louder. “More oil!” Kon Wang quickly poured in some more cooking oil over the grill, the golden liquid sizzling the moment the first drop dripped onto the grill.
The two witch elf students saw a young good-looking man suddenly appear. With a few gestures from their professor, it looked like the man got on his knees in front of him, the balcony side trim covering up what was actually occurring. Wait, was… was their professor doing some kind of weird play with this young man? The two of them began to blush horribly as they realised they might have misjudged their professor. Perhaps their professor was just a misunderstood man sharing a pure love with his young bed mate?
They realised they had to get closer to find out the truth. Using their spiritual force, they would sneak onto the roof from the other side. The wall on roof didn’t allow them to see what was going on however.
“Master… it’s so big and thick! You are truly Master above all!” Kon Wang held the finished pancake in his hand as he stared at it intently. It was a treat that had always been utterly delicious when they had gotten it. The sword spirit was a true gourmand, deriving the most important pleasures of life from the various foods from different places. Li Jian nodded as he looked at his pancake roll. “Yes, I’ve made it bigger and thicker than last time. That way the flavour will be overwhelming. Your tastebuds will have to bow in submission.”
This misunderstanding was too much for the Princess Su Lan. The blood gushed from her nose over the guard wall on the roof in a majestic splatter and fell down onto Li Jian’s balcony. What the hell was with this stream of blood? “Master someone is spying on us.” Li Jian looked up and frowned. “Come out now before there are consequences.” The awkward face of Shing Hai poked over the wall, her face red as she was expecting to see something that she had only read about in the back sections of the literature stores. What she saw instead was her professor and the handsome pretty young man sitting beside a grill each holding what looked like some kind of roll.

Li Jian narrowed his eyes. “Young lady, what are you doing up here? And who’s blood is this?” Su Lan looked over hesitantly before her face morphed into one of utter disbelief. What she had pictured in her head was something beautiful involving her professor and the young beauty on his balcony. Instead what she saw were two guys holding food beside a grill. “Professor! I… we got lost?”
The two witch elves sat inside the apartment at the dining room table as Li Jian cut in half the pancake roll he had just made, setting each half onto a plate for them and looked at them. They had explained what they thought they had seen, each explanation a stab at his chest. Is this is what elite students thought like nowadays? Kon Wang’s face had fallen tremendously at the idea that he was in that kind of a relationship with his master. Why did they think that he would be the one doing the servicing? Was he not a handsome masculine man?
“Professor, what is it?” Shing Hai asked curiously, poking at it slightly with one of her fingers. Li Jian grinned at the two and rubbed his hands together. “This is a recipe created by a master of no small skill in the place I used to live. It is called scallion pancake roll. It is one of the most delicious treats that one can find, and peerless in its deliciousness and satisfaction.”
Principal Fu Rong sat in her bed thinking about everything she had seen. She always thought there was more to the human ever since she had heard about what had happened. Even when she first met him, she had wondered what mysteries he had hidden away. Just when she had thought that she understood more about him, he surprised her once again. She had watched the way he had disappeared and drawn his sword, the split moment his sword had been drawn she got the feeling that everything would be alright. He had not disappointed her, the power that he unleashed although frightening to the extreme, also made her doubt that what she saw was the extent of what he was capable of. “Just what kind of a man are you?”
She sighed and let her body flop down onto her bed. She blushed as she remembered the way his face was so casually handsome when he told her that he would defy the heavens for her. She has never had a male anyone say something like that to her. The strangest part was, she didn’t feel as if he was saying it casually. In some way, he perhaps truly was defying the heavens because she asked him to give her hope. She rolled over and covered her face with her pillow and let out a girly giggle. If only her colleagues could see her now, rolling in her bed and giggling over a man. A human man of all things. She sat up and decided that she would go over next door to speak to him.
After changing, she stood outside the door to his apartment, hesitating to knock. What if he was busy? What if he didn’t want to see her? She was lost in her own thoughts of indecisiveness until she heard a feminine gasp from inside his place.
“I.. it’s so big and thick it barely fits in my mouth but it’s so good… how did you do that? Do you have magical hands?” The ember of jealousy began to smoulder in Fu Rong’s heart. What sent her over the edge was the second feminine voice. “You were so right, it was too much for just one of us.. it really was made for the both of us!”
With a thunderous crash, Fu Rong blasted apart Li Jian’s apartment door. The first thing she saw was two students that she recognized as being Li Jian’s students, their mouth a drooling mess. The wall cracked as her fist sent Li Jian flying into it.
After the situation was explained, Fu Rong could only look at Li Jian awkwardly. Li Jian grumbled to himself, something about it being the last time he was letting anyone taste his creations again and something about how witch elf women were all crazy. She peaked at him shyly through her lashes, watching him as he rubbed his cheek, muttering about how he was too handsome to be hit in the face like this. She couldn’t help but giggle at his demeanor, so different from the casual way he struck down a high levelled yokai with a single strike. “Principal, I didn’t realise you lived so close to Professor Li.” Shing Hai asked, curiously. She knew that this building was one of the more expensive places to live. “Especially to think you live across the hall from him, it’s such a shock to imagine.” Su Lan added.
Fu Rong looked at the two girls smiling her trademark smile but with a vicious aura behind it. The two girls felt like they had walked into the den of a tigress. “Why is that so strange? Is it because you think the principal is not suitable company for the professor?” Even as her lips smiled, her eyes glowed with the viciousness of barbed daggers as she glared at the two girls. Making their excuses quickly, the two future heirs of the Yao Kingdom ran for it from the glaring principal.
Kon Wang had disappeared after Li Jian explained that he was a sword spirit and not a strange youngster that lives with him. The two of them sat across from each other slightly awkwardly. One a deity while the other a witch elf. Every so often, the two of them would catch the other looking at them, the one caught always moving their eyes to avoid staring for too long. “I’ve never had someone promise to defy the heavens for me before.” She blurted out, blushing after realising what she had said to break the ice. Li Jian looked up at the ceiling as his ears turned a bit red. He had said it in that moment out of admission and defeat. He had no choice; it was to either defy the heavens or watch as she was killed. “I couldn’t just let you be swallowed up by that monster.” Their hands which were on held hesitantly on their own sides of the table finally meeting in the middle to gently hold the other wordlessly.
