Chapter 3 - Powers and a Surprise

Chapter 3 - Powers and a Surprise

Jason didn't have to look far for a water source and stripped himself and jumped in after checking the surroundings for Terraformars.

The small lake Jason was currently in was about waist height for him so he didn't worry about any ambushes from under the water, the water was also crystal clear so he'd be able to see a 2m tall, insect man if it tried to sneak up on him.

As he washed, the water around him was slowly dyed a yellow and green color because of the muck all over his body.

It didn't take too long for Jason to wash the goo from himself, so he jumped out of the lake and lay on the ground with the sun beaming down above him, Jason decided to use it as a drying device as he didn't have any towels nearby.

While he was drying, Jason opened up his powers and abilities screen and clicked on his other abilities for their information.

Accelerated System Development Trait allows the User's bodily systems to grow to be stronger, tougher, faster and better at a much faster rate as the body grows. The user's body systems, all of them, grow over time as the user ages/matures, making them better than those of other people. Their nervous system, skeletal system, digestive system, immune system, muscular system, etc. all grow better faster as time goes by.

This trait as low short-term power but as long as the user can stay alive for a few months, they will see a definite difference between their bodily systems and others. Current Lv: 1.

( Author Note: For those who didn't get what I mean by this, here's a simpler way: As he ages, his bodily systems get stronger meaning he gets stronger as he ages. )

Jason looked shocked at this for a minute. He realized how powerful this ability was, especially put together with his M.O. Operation Physiology. His new physiology had given him amped up bodily systems anyway but if this ability improved them, he'd get to 100% capacity in no time and even surpass it if he trained hard enough and had enough time.

The physiology had even given him a new bodily system, the Mosaic Organ. If that was improved by the Accelerated System Development power, his Bug powers would explode forward and he might even develop additional powers for his existing bases.

Smirking, Jason felt that he had a deadly combination already, he just needed to stay alive and not get killed by some other player. Taking his attention away from the information, he opened his last abilities information.

Aerokinesis allows the user to create, shape and manipulate air, the common name given to the layer of atmospheric gases and various compounds (mostly oxygen and nitrogen). Since air cannot be seen by conventional methods, neither can the attacks and derivatives formed by/from it, making it an invisible and versatile weapon that is very difficult to block and dodge.

Manipulating Air takes Mental Energy, exceeding your limits has multiple repercussions. From the lightest being a headache and the most severe being brain damage.

Jason wasn't expecting it to be this powerful. He was expecting some serious restrictions on a Kinesis ability because of their unfair power.

But for some reason, they hadn't given him many restrictions other than this Mental Energy but he didn't think that'd be too hard to raise as it seemed like it was linked with his brain which had received a buff from his Bug Physiology and would grow stronger with the Accelerated System Development power as well, so he only had to wait if he needed Mental Energy.

Testing out his limits, Jason tried to control the air around him.

A vein started throbbing on the side of his temple as he tried his hardest to grab the air around him but no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't do it.

Annoyed at his lack of ability to use his power, Jason slammed his hand against the ground next to him, unconsciously using enough strength to create a small crater around his hand. He stopped his mini-tantrum and looked at his hand, wryly smiling.

'I should try to learn to control my strength, can't go getting angry and destroying my surroundings, without meaning to at least.'

Lifting his hand out of the crater, Jason shook the dirt and grass off of it before sitting still and thinking deeply about what he needed to do. It didn't take him long before he realized what he had to do.

'If it uses up Mental Energy, that should mean I have to find my mental energy, right?'

Having an idea on what to do, Jason stood up, put his briefs on along with his sweatpants and discarded his goo covered top. He walked away from the lake and toward to the trees surrounding the lake.

Putting a bit of strength into his legs, he shot up through the air and grabbed the nearest branch to him. That branch turned out to be one of the higher ones. Jason chastised himself to control his strength better and dropped a few branches and started jumping forward to another tree's branch.

He did this because he wanted to avoid the Terraformars while scouting out the area for a suitable place for him to camp at, because even if he could kill them with relative ease, he didn't want to attract hundreds of them as he knew from the Manga that their strength wasn't in individual strength but rather swarm tactics.

After running for a while, and nearly overshooting multiple times, Jason was getting more control over his strength and could use it to pull off maneuvers of inhuman finesse, flitting from tree to tree.

Shortly after he gained control over his new body, Jason found a cave. He'd be overjoyed if it weren't for the constant swarm of terraformars coming in and out of the entrance.

Clicking his tongue in annoyance, Jason turned around and tried a different direction, not wanting to risk getting seen by any of the innumerable bugs in front of him.

Before long he found another cave but it took longer to get here than the roaches' cave, but yet again, hostile occupants were walking in and out of the cave. But this time it wasn't roaches, they were a bit taller than the average roach at around 2.1m+ and seemed to have skin instead of the carapace that the roaches had.

They were all hulking masses of green muscle, with tusks sticking out of their lower jaws. All of them had long hair, either in the form of braids or let loose but they each had different colors. Some had blood red, some had raven black and some even had light blue hair.

Jason's eyes widened in surprise.

'Orcs! I didn't expect to see anything other than Roaches in this forest.'

Jason didn't approach the Orcs but instead turned around and ran quite a bit away before stopping and sitting down on the highest branch of a big tree. Luckily he was covered by the lower branches' canopy and wouldn't be seen unless someone was specifically looking for him.

Sitting there, Jason started to meditate. Not because it was something he usually did but because it was the only way he could figure out to try and find his Mental Energy.

Scowering his mind, Jason tried to clear it and see if he could find this energy but alas, he couldn't.

Figuring it'd take longer than a few pseudo-meditations to find the Mental Energy, Jason decided to mess around with his other powers. Mainly his Insect Physiology. Only because he felt the Mosaic Organ in his body releasing chemicals which strengthened his bug characteristics.

Closing his eyes, Jason flexed a muscle he never knew he had. Well, it would be better to say he never had it before.

The 'muscle' he was talking about was him making his Mosaic Organ pump a chemical into his body. Jason's eyes snapped open as he felt a rush enter his body, making him feel like a hyperactive kid who'd had enough sugar to give an Elephant diabetes.

The concoction of chemicals and hormones went around his system in one big circle before stopping. The liquid seemed to soak his entire body in what seemed like a human's version of plant fertilizer. His muscles felt full of energy and saturated with nutrients to grow, his bones felt clean and pure like they had no impurities and his organs did their jobs, pumping his body along with ease, seeming more vigorous than they already were.

Jason tried to flex that muscle again but it cramped up whenever he tried to fully flex it.

'Figures.'

Jason mentally spat in annoyance. He was mainly annoyed because he didn't have much to do right now, well, other than figure out how he should train but he knew that it was going to be hard to improve his already incredible body, so his ideas on training were still being made harsher and more intense than anything possible for a human in his head.

As he was about to get up and try out one of his training ideas, Jason heard something.

"AHHHHH!"

"HELP!"

Two screams of pure terror and fear sounded out not too far from Jason. They were in the direction of where the Terraformars were but Jason didn't mind, he'd found something to placate his boredom.

Leaning forward on the branch, Jason shot forward with a wide, predatory grin on his face as he saw the sudden information in front of him.
