Chapter 2 - The Forest's Inhabitants

Chapter 2 - The Forest's Inhabitants

The Huntsman Spider Base gives the user extreme speed, incredible sensitivity to air currents and movements around the user and also an untamed ferocity when it comes to fighting. Reflexes and Reaction Time, even Visual Acuity, are enhanced massively to keep up with the speed of this Base. Current Lv: 1.

The "Bullet Ant" Base gives the user extreme strength. Users usually develop more muscle mass as this Base promotes muscle growth. Current Lv: 1.

Pachyrhynchus Infernalis gives the user extreme durability and a minor increase to both strength and speed. Skin and Bones will have a thin, invisible layer of protective coating on them while also experiencing a reinforcement themselves. The end result is the prior mentioned extreme durability. Current Lv: 1.

Intense Emotions/Desires can lead to further strengthening of a Base by allowing more DNA to splice with the Player. Beware, too much splicing can fully destroy the Human side of the Player.

Jason felt excitement bubble up once again from his core as he looked over the information in front of him. He remembered the characters from the manga who used these Bases and the one Terraformar who used Pachyrhynchus Infernalis' Powers, and they were all incredibly strong.

Marcos E. Garcia with his Huntsman Spider Base was near untouchable by any and all roaches who tried to run at him. His speed, plus the strength enhancement the Base gave him, allowed him to use his inertia to a devastating degree. The only problem with this Base was that the Huntsman spider didn't have much stamina/endurance but Jason figured his Human muscles, that had spliced in their Endurance for his new muscles, would solve that problem or at least help lessen the problem.

Donatello K. Davis and his daughter Michelle K. Davis both had the "Bullet Ant", or Paraponera clavata, Base and they flung the Terraformars, creatures that could rip apart groups of Humans with relative ease, they flung them around like an empty sack of potatoes.

Pachyrhynchus Infernalis was only really seen used by a Terraformar, aka a Roach, but it still showcased it's strength well enough. This specific base gave the user an incredibly thick carapace around their body which would be incredibly hard to scratch, let alone damage.

The more he thought about it, the more Jason truly felt like a kid again.

'Extreme speed, Extreme strength, and Extreme Durability. And they can all be ranked up! Hahaha! This is all going to be so much fun!'

Jason started cackling as he stood there. Well, until he heard it.

"Johj!" a deep voice said right behind Jason, causing him to stand stock-still in a mix of fear and surprise. Slowly turning his head, Jason saw something he never thought he'd saw but now he thought about the message from Job saying the forests were personalized for each of them, this specific enemy made sense.

Standing behind him at around 2m tall, a shiny brown carapace covered creature looked down at him.

It was distinctly humanoid and looked like a tall, incredibly buff man. But it's face was what gave it away. It had perfectly circular eyes which seemed almost blank if it weren't for the slight flicker of intelligence in them.

The carapace between it's nose and the top lip was longer than what seemed normal to a human, making its face look quite long. It had slightly thick lips and very human-like teeth, currently it's face was emotionless apart from the curiosity on its face as it looked at Jason.

Jason had always been a big guy, when he hit 12 and 13 he had massive growth spurts and in his 14-year-old body, he was taller than most men at 189cm tall but in front of this thing, he felt small.

This was a Terraformar.

"Johj!"

"Johj! Johj!"

And it had brought friends.

'Wonderful.'

5 of them to be exact. 2 of them were quite vocal when they came out of the bushes but the other two were quieter. The ones who were more vocal seemed to be bigger and have more muscle mass while the quieter ones seemed more intelligent.

Jason slowly turned around, looking up at the Roach in front of it. Something in him ached to destroy it and another part seemed scared of it because of what he'd seen these things are capable of.

They were all holding stone clubs which all looked to be over 1m long and thicker than a human's arm at the grip and thicker than a human's thigh at the thickest part of the club.

*Whooosh!*

Suddenly, the Terraformar in front of Jason swung it's club down at him, cracking the air with the speed at which it did it.

At first, Jason's instincts went into overdrive, scared he was about to die and willing to do anything to stop it from happening but when he looked at the incoming club he noticed something; it was going so slowly.

Jason seeing this knew that his worries were just him not knowing his own power.

Stepping to the side of the club, it sailed past him and hit the ground with a massive boom. The Terraformar looked up at Jason with a slight confusion in its eyes, it was beginning to feel a feeling it hadn't felt in a long time.

Jason's smirk intensified as he fluidly stepped into a stance that kept him grounded and he swung his fist up with devastating speed.

The fist impacted the hard shell of the Roach and the soft and human looking hand simply crushed the shell. The hand cleaved through the shell like a hot knife through butter. A sickening crack echoed throughout the surroundings, similar to multiple eggs breaking at the same time.

The other roaches were looking in confusion at the Jason who was still drilling his hand into their brethren's head.

One of the bigger ones crouched down into a sprinters stance and shot toward Jason, seeming to teleport right next to Jason.

But Jason was unperturbed and simply put more power into the fist currently breaking the roach in front of him. The added strength was the straw to break the camels back and the head flew straight up, coming clean off the Terraformar's shoulders.

Turning slowly, Jason saw the bigger roach running at him. It didn't appear slow to him, more like an actual sprinter running at him but still, that was easier to deal with than what normal people would see; instantaneous travel.

Jason got into a sprinting stance of his own and charged at the bug himself. Cracks spread from a small crater he'd left setting off and another cracking sound was heard, again, similar to what eggs getting broken sounds like.

Jason had his arm punctured right through the bug's chest. His hand was covered in a yellow goo which was quite sickening to look at but he didn't seem bothered as he looked up at the roach's face.

A small trickle of its blood came running out of its nose, ears, and mouth.

Jason saw fear in its eyes and smirked, the part of him aching to destroy it relishing in the fun of the hunt.

As he pulled his arm out of the hole he'd created, the roach tried to jump backward. Obviously, Jason stopped it but not by normal means. Jason had grabbed the upper part of the hole with one hand and the bottom part with his other and got his grip nice and tight, digging into the creature's flesh and carapace.

The other roaches just stood there, watching. The occasional 'Johj!' and insectoid clicks were all Jason could notice from them, they seemed to be learning about him as he fought.

'Well, they wanna learn something, then why don't they learn about this...!'

Jason strained his upper body muscles and felt his blood rush around his body supplying energy and power to his obscenely strong muscles. The shell around the hole continued to crack further and further as more strength was put into the effort of ripping the Terraformar apart.

The Terraformar wasn't taking this lying down either, as soon as the cracks got bigger, it had latched its hands onto Jason's muscular forearms and start trying to pry his hands out of the hole.

So Jason was both trying to break some thick and strong carapace and rip a 2.1m tall creature in two, while the creature also desperately tried to stop him.

The challenge excited him.

Something deep inside him, whether he'd always been like this or because the bug DNA had given him some new instincts, but regardless he felt elated when he proved he was better than the roaches. When he killed the other one earlier, with relative ease, he felt his body release a concoction of chemicals which made him feel like he was on cloud nine.

And he wanted to prove he was better some more.

"Arghhhh!" Jason let out a strained roar as he pushed his new body to its limits. Somewhere deep inside him, there was a small, round organ that started to release some chemicals as he strained himself. These chemicals powered his need for more strength to finish off the roach in front of him and the other 3 behind it.

*Crack*

The shell on its chest looked fragile at best and Jason's veins were protruding and wiggling like small worms, his muscles bulged as he put one last push into it.

*Crack! Snap!*

The roach's chest, shoulders along with the arms and head flew off the roach's lower half spraying yellow/green-ish all over Jason's arms and face. Along with his predatory grin, Jason looked positively monstrous.

The intelligent roaches instantly spread their wings and went flying into the air. Jason wasn't going to let them go easily.

Using his new muscles made for explosive power, Jason shot forward to one of the roaches and ripped it's head clean off, with surprising ease even to Jason. Looking at the head in his hands, Jason smirked; he was getting more powerful the more he got used to his powers.

Using the body of the roach he was currently standing on, Jason pounced at the other roach who was 3m in the air already and instantly ripped his arm off and slammed it into its head with his inhuman strength, using the arm as a club.

Before the bulky Terraformar could even react, it was on its own against an opponent it knew it couldn't beat. So it tried to run.

Emphasis on 'tried'.

Jason shot onto it's back and started using his incredibly durable hands as clubs, smacking the utter shit out of the back of the bulky terraformar. It didn't take long for the banging sounds to become cracking sounds and for them to finally become squelching sounds.

The bug dropped to the floor, missing it's entire back carapace. As the roach was twitching on the floor, Jason decided to go find a place where he could wash and look at his other powers.
