Chapter 3: First awakening

Chapter 3: First awakening

Iris opened her eyes to find herself in a location completely different to where she had last remembered. Instead of seeing the endless sea and sand, instead she found herself in a small circular chamber made of a black, crystal-like substance. She sat up, wondering just where was she?

She remembered falling asleep for some reason after releasing the giant rock but after that, nothing. She stared at the black rock, thinking it pretty in a way, she reached out and poked it, causing a series of cracks to spread out from the point she poked.

“I’m not stuck in here, at least.” She smiled, shuffling around in the dark she positioned herself towards the crack and pulled back her arm into a fist “Rock meet fist!” she yelled, punching the rock.

The chamber rumbled and filled with air rushing in to fill the sudden empty space of rock and stone being instantly propelled into the sky. Coughing, Iris climbed out of the hole, fanning the dust away from her face as it settled around her.

“...wow….”

As the dust settled she was stunned, the island had changed, not only had it tripled in size but there was now filled with unfamiliar features, one of which she rushed towards and stopped just at its base. A tall thing with a brown base stretching up far into the sky where it spread out in green “…A tree!” She recognized; knowledge of such life being shoved into her head.

She looked at the tree, the brown bits, which she recognized as bark “the first life…” Tears filled her eyes as she couldn’t help but hug the tree “Life… but how?” She turned around, ripping the tree cleanly out of the ground, looking around to see that the tree was not alone, there was several new life additions to the island.

In fact, it was a full-on island tropical forest now, complete with trees, bushes, vines, the works! All things flourishing! There was even a crab that had traveled fr- “A crab?!”

Iris dropped the tree, it slamming into the ground as she rushed over to the now started and fleeing crab “Ah! Don’t go!” This was the first living and moving creature she had seen, this small blue crab with 3 eyes, a pincer, and 6 legs, to her it was adorable, the first life, a precious existence. She reached out her hands towards it “Come here, its ok.”

The scared and fleeing crab, now faced with a hand coming towards it, did what any rational fleeing crab would do. Pinch her, clamping down as hard as it could to fend off this unknown foe.

“…” Iris stared at the crab pinching her hand and smiled “Yes! You understand!” She lifted it up, the crab desperately holding on for its dear life “I don’t know how you came to be but that’s ok! The creation goddess me, Iris, Loves you!” she spun around and brought the crab close to her face “now, what is your name? Mister crab?”

The crab, who was dangling midair, naturally could not understand Iris, so in retaliation pinched her nose with its free pincher.

“Hrm, no name then.” Iris nodded, unfazed by the pinches “But that is ok, I will love you all the same.” She then brought the crab close and into a hug “The precious first living thing I have se-“

*CRUNCH*

“…?” Iris looked down, the crab had been crushed to death by the force of her hug against her bare skin, the remnants clinging and dripping down her body “oh…oops….” She stood up, removing the disembodied claws from her arm and nose “guess I don’t know my own strength.” She laughed nervously, pulling up her status.

“It is SSS+ after all!” She nodded, looking back towards the deep hole she cleaved out of the ground in a single punch, then to the tree she had ripped out of the ground, and lastly to the fallen remains of mister crab that covered her body “Could be a problem, I don’t know how but life has grown and I don’t want to crush every potential follower I meet.”

She walked to the nearest beach and looked back, taking in the view of the island, noting the volcano in its center. “Don’t want to accidently destroy any of this either.” She turned around and faced the ocean, bringing her hand up to her face and clenching it into a fist “For mister crab, I have to learn to control this strength.”

She raised her fist into the air, swearing upon mister crab who she carelessly killed, that she would control her strength “But first, lets see how much SSS+ can do.” She smirked, bringing her fist back “Full strength! Here we go!” She then punched forward with everything she got.

Gone.

Simply, gone.

Everything that was in front of her was suddenly gone in a clean straight line. The ocean, the clouds in the distance, the force had obliterated everything, even the air, which created a vacuum that needed to be filled. Air rushed into its place, kicking up any loose sand and displacing the water. All the while Iris stood motionlessly staring as everything settled.

“Ah…That is a lot.” She even felt that this wasn’t even the peak of what she could do, it was no wonder she could carelessly do the things she did. “If strength is like this then what about magic?” She remembered the magic stone she had made, how it distorted space and cleaved straight through the planets crust…

She looked back at the volcano briefly before snapping back to the now calm ocean “I need to see it too, just to be sure.” She raised her hand out towards the ocean “All of it.” She focused, a ball of flame quickly forming in front of her, hovering over the ocean “more” another ball joined it, this one made of air that danced around inside itself “more” another made of earth joined “more!” water joined the three, swirling around in a miniature whirlpool.

“Now, as strong as I can go!” She poured mane into it, as much as she could muster. The four elemental balls growing in size and condensing, eventually turning into pure mana stones that distorted the very reality around themselves.

Iris panted, she felt like she could do more but looking at the state of these four right now, anymore would be especially dangerous, but that was a problem in itself. She felt like she could do more, one element stone did a lot judging by the volcano and she made that by accident, but now she made four and it didn’t even feel like that was her limit. “Insane.” Was all she had for it.

“Now hrm… what to do with these…” She looked at the stones as they floated there, distorting everything around them with just how much power they held “eh, I don’t want them to go under again… into space?” Having personally experienced what it was like to fly through space she felt it a bit cruel.

In the end she shrugged, deciding to cast them into the ocean, she chucked them haphazardly towards the horizon, wherever they ended up, they ended up. “Where did the first one go anyways? In the cent- argh…not again…” She suddenly felt dizzy after casting the magic away, she took a few steps towards the where her hole was before falling face first into the sand, passed out.

Of course, throwing stones fueled with enough mana to warp the very fabric of reality around them away without care is not the brightest idea, and such carelessness comes with a cost to the very world.

The water stone was the first to fall, drawn to the endless ocean it fell, super charging the water and its inhabitants. Currents changed, the sea floor ever changed as life swelled.

The rest of the stones made it to the other side of the world, landing on the inhabited continent and wreaking havoc.

The fire stone landed on the western side, scorching the land and creating a vast desert of sand and glass.

The earth stone hit the giant volcano, causing its dormancy to cease and split the earth, shifting the land.

The wind stone hit the east, it’s winds cutting the landscape and flinging it into the sky while creating vast planes.

Lastly, as an unforeseen happenstance, the warped reality and vast energy released during this chaos gave birth to two additional elements, light and dark, that spread out and twisted the warped continent. Mixing the elements together in a steep miasma that mutated all of life and the fundamental laws of the world the inhabitants knew.

The lawless and chaotic time would be known as the creation period, a time taught to be the result of the enraged goddess changing the world as she awoke and was angry at the current inhabitants, so she cast them aside, making the world anew and to her liking.

Of course, this was only a legend among scholars, no one would have ever thought the goddess never even noticed their existence and was merely testing out the limits of her power.
