Chapter 2: Washed Up

Chapter 2: Washed Up

Flying through the newly forming universe Iris screamed, flailing around with no control of where she was going, she was left to the whims of the universe. Such whims had her flying past newly formed stars, blasting through collections of star dust, and bouncing off planets sending both flying off into a different direction if the planet managed to survive the impact.

Eventually, after going straight through a small planet, she heard and felt a different kind of impact, this one leaving her with a new sensation as she finally came to a halt. Cautiously, she opened her eyes, finding herself surrounded by a see-through blue wall, sitting on a black surface.

Looking up in amazed bewilderment, the blue wall was moving, coming inwards onto itself at the top. She flinched as something hit her nose, bringing her hand to it and wiping the thing off her it felt slick, and…wet? All new sensations to her. More of the substance fell on her from above, and she stretched her arms out and closed her eyes, basking in the feeling before finding herself swept away.

What had happened was she had collided with a planet that was 99% water, and pushed aside multiple tons of water, said tons now moving back into place with the force of a tsunami, sweeping the girl away in its current.

So, the goddess was back to flailing around helplessly, but in water instead of space this time. Alas, she couldn’t take the mental stress anymore and fainted, surrendering herself to the whims of the ocean.

“Urgh…Gah, kafauk, kaah!” sputtering up water Iris came to, placing her hands firmly into the sand she got up “what was that… urgh, my head.” She sat up, looking around her surroundings.

She found herself on a small island of sand in the middle of the ocean she had apparently washed up on, looking passed the island that was barely 10 meters all she could see was an endless expanse of sea, looking up she saw what she knew would be the sun and another planet cleaved in two.

She rubbed her head, apparently since she knew that was a sun, some knowledge was shoved into her head by Will, she knew she was on an unnamed planet, what she fell in was water, the star in the sky was a sun, and what she was sitting on was sand, the basics of basics of common sense was ingrained in her head.

“Will? You there?” she called out, standing up “Hello?” She didn’t receive an answer.

“Oh well, at least I have more to work with.” She shrugged, deciding not to dwell on it and instead go over the information he left her with, first she needed to see what she was working with, and opened up her status.

Not much had changed, minus the health…which she didn’t have an answer for “What does that even mean?” She shrugged, not knowing what NULL meant she had no way of knowing what a little bit less than that would be. But for now, she would assume she was fine.

Next she would check her MP, among the information she was given she should be able to… “Got it.”

She smiled, in her open palm a small flame burned. This was magic, a phenomenon fueled by mana and guided by imagination and emotion. Granted, she had never seen an open flame before, but it was described in her knowledge. She giggled, letting the flame dance between her palms as she paced the island, looking for any sign of life, something else described.

It was something she was looking forward to, life other than just her, something else that wouldn’t ignore her like Will. But from her short walk she could tell nothing here existed, which was fine, all she had to do was create it.

That was another thing left to her, a better explanation of her race and the thing called Creation Points.

Being a Goddess of creation, she was a being comprised of Mana and functioned entirely off it. She didn’t need to eat, drink, or sleep under normal circumstances. There was a little more to it than that, but she’d investigate it more later, what she was really interested in was…

As a Goddess of Creation, she had something called the authority of universe, not only being it’s God but also the creator and manipulator of the things in it. She could do this by two means, the first and simplest was to use creation points, with this she could create and manipulate anything effortlessly, so long as she had the appropriate number of points.

Points were gathered from living beings that worshipped or had strong emotions towards her, like if they were immensely grateful or even fearful of her.

The second and much harder way to do this was to use mana or MP, which required precise knowledge of what she wanted to accomplish and was next to impossible to create life with it. Doing so would require the intricate knowledge of how a life form operates, which she didn’t know.

“Let’s see…” She moved the flame to her back, allowing it to hover behind her as she thought up what she wanted for her first creation “I want something cute, but similar to me…an animal? No, I’ll start simple, with something that looks similar but isn’t.” She nodded, then spread her arms high into the sky and willed it so.

[Attempting to make new life, CP required 100,000]

[Warning: Not enough CP… canceling request]

“…eh?” her arms dropped to her side “100,000?!?” She shouted “Why is it so expensive?!?” She looked to her current CP total, only having a measly 437 to her name, she had nowhere near enough.

“Ah, its ok, I can just get more with some followers…” She glanced around her little sand island and started panicking “right, no followers, and I can’t get any followers to worship me because no CP… ah ha…ha ha” She started laughing, denying the reality that was before her as the flame behind her, fueled by her hysteria and unchecked mana compressed and hardened into a rock.

“Why didn’t Will tell me?!” she screamed, dropping to her knees “He just told me to increase the stats, and that CP had uses for various things… this is a bit more important than that!” she yelled out, anger rising “Will! Answer me! What am I supposed to do!? You tricked me!”

She stood up, unaware that her anger was fueling the growth of the rock behind her, that steadily grew in size “What’s the point of having max stats if I don’t have any points left to create life!” She was stuck, with out any option left, at a standstill, in short…

She was screwed.

Sure, she could attempt to make life with mana, but she fundamentally lacked the knowledge to do so, anything she would create would end up dead the moment she finished making it. If she had a base to go off of, something she could dissect and learn from… but alas, she didn’t.

She complained till she felt lightheaded, sitting down she sighed “Now what…” does she just wait here on the sand till something happens? The saying life finds a way was for some reason given to her, did that mean she just had to wait till life formed on its own? Boring, staring out into the endless ocean was already getting boring, it was only one step above the white space, even with all the distortions in the air.

“…?”

Yes, she wasn’t hallucinating, the very air was being distorted, twisted, palpable. What could be causing thi-

“What the?!”

She turned around, looking for the source and was immediately greeted by it, the tiny little flame that was behind her that had condensed and hardened from her released mana had grown in size, about 4 meters long it was a solid red rock of pure condensed mana, distorting the space around it.

“Ah..ah..ah…what do I do?!” She panicked, she didn’t even know what that thing was, just that it was constantly sucking up her mana “maybe if I let it go…” She tried cutting her connection to it, attempting to prevent it from devouring anymore of her mana. The moment she did so it dropped, digging cleanly into the sand and vanishing as it fell deep underground.

“…that might be kind aba-woah, dizzy all…of….a …sud…” she hit the sand with a light thud, falling asleep.

As Iris lay in the sand passed out, the rock of pure concentrated mana fell through the planet’s crust, the mantle, piercing the core and lightly fragmenting before continuing out the other side and launching into orbit. Over the years it would orbit the planet, gathering bits and pieces of material floating in space and forming the first moon of this ocean planet.

Meanwhile, now having two clean pathways from the core to the surface, lava flowed from the core, erupting into two volcanoes on the opposite sides of the planet.

The side Iris was on was a relatively small volcano, the flowing magma swallowing up Iris as it formed a much bigger island with her resting below its surface.

On the other side, however, due to the messier exit of the mana rock, a much larger volcano formed, forming a gigantic continent on the ocean planet.

This was not all that happened, due to the stone fragmenting in the core, pure mana from the goddess was injected into the planet, jumpstarting the formation of life. And over the centuries, life formed while the goddess slept, slowly recovering her lost mana in a world that knew very little.
