Another different man showed up today; Aunties called him the “tax man”. I now know of “travel man”, “local man”, and “tax man”. I wonder how many mans there are in all? And how do I tell them all apart? Aunties are so smart, it amazes me! I’m happy to be here, to learn from them.

There are many rules that the Aunties have for me to follow when the tax-man is here. They do not want me to cry. I should be good and be quiet. I shouldn’t bother the nice tax-man. Of course, I did what Aunties asked. They do not ask a lot from me; how could I refuse such simple things, if it makes them happy? They praised me and petted me and told me how good I was when tax-man left, it made me happy.

Then later in the bight cycle… the day, that is – I must get used to using the proper terms so Aunties will be proud of me. Later in the day, another odd Uncle and Aunty showed up. We heard him before we saw him, as there was an odd sound outside which I don’t know what it was. Someone yelled “WOAH!”, and then there was some funny laughter and some snorting, and then a door opened and closed – OUTSIDE!

There are no doors outside, in front of our cat’s house! I’ve been there. It is an open flat space where people walk. The next time we go out, I’m going to look and see where a door might be hiding. I don’t think there’s one outside, but I know I heard one. Aunties heard it too because when they did, they said, “The Lord is here!” and started running around picking up and moving things.

I don’t know why everyone got so excited, since apparently Lord and Lady belongs to us. From the moment he came in dressed in his funny clothes, with a woman beside him who was dressed just as funny, the Aunties called them “My Lord” and “My Lady” and spoke very nice and polite to them.

“My Lord” wasn’t dressed like the Uncles who normally visit us. They wear brown leathers or gray cottons usually. Aunties’ Lord was wearing bright, colorful blue clothes – and a lot of them, as if he was cold! Deep blue pants, shiny black boots, a white shirt and blue vest, with shiny buttons. He really looked a lot different from the older Uncles who come visit us here.

And, Aunties’ Lady was just as odd! She was colored in yellow and whites – which isn’t so odd, since the Aunties here can wear the whole rainbow of colors – but her dress was big and puffy, and went all the way to the ground almost! And it must’ve been heavy! The bottom of it came into the room before she did, and left after her – it was that puffy! I don’t know why she was dressed in such an odd thing, but the Aunties oohed and aahed over how pretty she was and how good it looked.

I don’t know what was so pretty about her. I think my Aunties are much prettier. And probably not half as hot, since they don’t have to wave a fan around all the time and wrinkle their nose up all funny. But, Aunties seemed to care and worry about her a lot, as they brought her drinks and offered her snacks.

Lord did most of the talking, while Lady simply hung on his arm and waved her fan back and forth to try and stay cool. Apparently he likes the shiny pebbles which the men leave the Aunties – I guess he likes to use them on his shirts – and he wanted the Aunties to give him some. They gave him all they had, but apparently it wasn’t enough. Tax-man took many of them with him when he left.

Lord seemed angry and disappointed. Aunties promised that they would get more “coin” for him in the next three days. They seem to really care for him a lot, to give him the last of their shiny pebbles!

When he left, the Aunties put me back in my crib and went to the other room to talk. They seem worried and sad because there weren’t enough shiny pebbles – “coin”, is the word they used – for Lord. I don’t know why he needs all the pebbles; they’re pretty and I would think Aunties should keep some for themselves, but they’re only interested in getting more for him for now.

I’ll have to fix it! I want Aunties happy, not sad.
