Chapter 19 - Unforseen Challenges

Back at the house Peaches had finally woke up from her evolution. After about 18 hours and a few visible upgrades she was much stronger. I was interested to see what all increased so I activated analysis on her.

Once again it was blocked and I got the pop up.

Analysis Failed

The creature you are attempting to analyze has a master level block enabled. Would you like to penetrate the block and analyze anyway? Be aware that there may be mental backlash on the recipient.

“Peaches, will you lower your block again so I can see how much stronger you got this time?” I asked.

“Oh yea, sorry daddy. I’ll just set it to always allow you to see how amazing I am. Cause I’m awesome. You don’t know anybody as awesome as me. I know it. Right daddy?”

I chuckled a little and then replied “That’s right my best girl. You are the amazing! Not only the strongest, but the prettiest”

She let out a little trill as her entire butt wiggled back and forth. I then activated analysis and was shocked at what I saw.

Description:

(Once a beloved pet Rottweiler, Peaches was sent to explore and grow in the wilds. Her ability to learn and absorb knowledge at an extraordinary rate accelerated her growth and her mana channels beyond expectation. This ability and second evolution transformed her into a Golden Rottweiler Chimera, allowing her to choose and integrate new features. Currently on her path to becoming a Divine Chimera (the ultimate form with no known limitations), She possesses a remarkable arsenal of skills and abilities. Due to being linked with the admin, normal limitations on growth have been removed and skill usage allows for advanced progression.)

I mentally connected with Sim. “What’s going on Sim? She is progressing at a crazy rate.

“I can not explain the speed, but the power levels are to be expected. She is bonded with you and your power is virtually unlimited.”

“Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, wanna help me find that stupid bird?” Peaches said as she started sniffing the air. “I know I smelled it around here somewhere. We could just find it really fast, I’ll eat it, and then go right back to your boring stuff. It’ll be super easy. Ready? Come on, let’s go.”

Stolen novel; please report.

“Okay, Peaches, I’ll go fly around with you to see if there are any birds. What does it look like?”

“Really, yay! You’re in for it now, you big old dumb bird. My Daddy is gonna find you. It’s big, it’s a bird, and it smells really bad. Oh, oh, and it has wings. Does that help?”

“Sure… it helps a bunch,” I said as I laughed. “Let’s go look.”

“Yay!”

Sim mentally informed me that there were no predatory birds in the area. I decided to just play along with it anyway. We flew around for about an hour. Peaches freaked out about smelling the bird probably 50 times, but I didn’t notice anything. After we finished and landed in the backyard, I let Peaches bounce around talking crap about the bird for a little bit longer.

“Okay, Peaches. I need to get back to work. You should practice your skills and magic more. Maybe if you’re stronger and faster, we can find the bird next time.”

“Good idea, Daddy.” Then she yelled, “I’m comin’ for you, you stupid bird.”

As she started walking off, I could hear her mumbling. “Take my fox friend from me and then hide. You’re gonna get it even worse now.”

……

“Sim, should we finish making the list of hero candidates? I don’t want to deal with them all one by one. Let’s do a MIB type of recruitment but scratch the skills testing. Just put everyone in a big room, and I’ll talk to them all at once.”

“I believe that course would be more effective in a dimensional space, so we can take them and return them afterward without any real time passing. We could alter the time dilation to make…Mike, the situation with Jeff has reached its apex.”

“What? Explain.” I told her. I didn’t know whether to be concerned or not.

“He has decided to implement the plan to put out the entire fire at once and will effectively save thousands of people. He is, however, caught in the drop zone with no chance of escape should he proceed,” Sim said.

“Okay, proceed with giving him the hummer and save him.”

“His partner Juan has also just agreed to give up his only chance of survival to save everyone as well.”

“Save him too, of course. Actually, I had an idea. What’s his morality score?”

“He has an 8,” Sim replied.

“Perfect! Grant him whatever rewards you think would best suit him as well, and tell them both that the admin will contact them soon with an offer.”

“Done,” Sim said and then went quiet for a little bit. “They have both accepted and are safely inside the hummer. They have chosen to return to base camp. I presume Jeff should be attempting to contact you soon.”

“I hope so. I’m still not sure how he’s going to take me being the admin and not telling him until now. He’s got a good heart, but sometimes he doesn’t agree with the way I manipulate things so they go how I want them to.”

“I have just detected a fluctuation in the core. The mana production is increasing to unprecedented levels much faster than anticipated. I have a new calculation for shield failure.”

“What? Do we have less time now? I thought you figured out the shield failure thing a long time ago. Did something change?”

“I’m afraid so. The mana levels are increasing much faster all of a sudden.”

“How did it just start increasing?” I asked.

“Unknown… It appears that we now have almost exactly three years until complete failure. In order to compensate for this, I have increased production on the dungeon cores as well as the city cores. As they complete, I am placing them in the appropriate locations and shielding them from outside detection as well as interference. I have also started siphoning mana from remote locations around the world. I was going to use this to create the moon-earth mana bridge just before shield failure but will not have the time to create the bridge unless I start now. My processing speed will be cut in half until shield failure.”

I just sat there in shock. “Holy Crap,” I said, “so we will be implementing everything way sooner than originally thought.”

“Correct,” Sim replied. “There is still ample time to complete our main goals. We will just need to finalize the quest system and fine-tune the advanced tiers after shield failure. The rest will be operational in time.”

“Okay, well, I guess let’s just do what we can beforehand. Are you gonna have any problems when the shield fails with everything you have to do all at once?” I asked.

“No, the preparations will be sufficient to automate core production with little oversight, as well as the earth-moon bridge. The process will be seamless to alter the moon's core and create a sustainable atmosphere. Directing the mana into the correct places for all of our goals will take most of my processing power, and the integration into the system will use the majority of the remaining resources. I will still have 2% available for unaccounted variables. Even with the increased timetable, I can accurately predict a 99.6% controllable outcome.”

“Is there anything I should focus on first to help prepare?” I asked.

“No, you are free to continue picking the hero candidates as well as any preparations you think will help humanity accept integration.”

“Okay, well, how many candidates do we have right now?”

“If you count Jeff and Juan, we have 183 potential candidates.”

“Alright. Chris and Lucas are both locked in; they both already agreed. Chris has been trying to get me to pick his new girl, so let’s make sure she has a shot. You know what, go ahead and grant each candidate the basic mana channels and a different power that goes along with their personality. Let’s see how they handle it.

I think I’m gonna put out a new announcement to the world also. I’m going to give them a time frame for integration.

With the new mana requirements, do you have enough available for me to mass project a figure above every city when I do the message?”

“Yes, there is still ample mana for something small like that.”

“Well, I didn’t think it was that small, but I guess it’s not a tangible entity in each location. Just a projection. An image shouldn’t use that much. I really wish Alec and Cookie would finally wake up. I want some help doing all this.”
