The Speaker moved the moment she heard the order. “Kill all the humans!” That was the order from the Creator and she was more than happy to oblige. The human blood in her mouth wasn’t anywhere near enough to satiate her bloodlust and she was now rushing with her group towards the Boss Room.
She could sense from the message that the order went to everyone and she knew that even now the Alpha and most of the Werewolves hiding in The Kar would be killing the humans The Grand left to guard the entrance. Nothing she could do about that but the humans on the third floor were her prey.
“By the 99 Gods, what are these things?”
The Speaker arrived at the room of the Floor Boss and it look like someone had beaten her to it. She looked in and saw that the remaining humans were encircled by Hellhounds. Several Explosion Bats were flying in the air above. The humans themselves were in a circle with The Grand in the center of it. It was an opportunity; in more ways than one.
The Speaker changed from her wolf form to her human form, or as the Creator called it, her wolfgirl’s form. Her wolfgirl’s body was covered with small fur, she had pointed ears that protrude out on top of her head, and a bushy tail, but on the whole it looked like that of a human. It also had a great advantage over the Werewolf form; the Speaker could speak clearly in this form.
The rest of the Kin in her group looked at her transformation in surprise but she just smiled and walked on into the room. The humans saw her immediately and their eyes widen. The Speaker knew she must be quite a sight; a lone naked woman leading a group of monsters into the room. The Speaker could almost imagine the legend that would be made about her today if any of the humans were to survive today.
“They are called hellhounds.”
The group of humans looked at her as if they could not believe their ears. Then one of them spoke. “You speak? You could speak!”
“Of course she could! Most of us do! What’s wrong with that?”
It was the Chieftain who answered the human and at his words, murmurs could be heard from the humans. “The rat! The rat spoke! How could…?”
“Ratlings!” The Speaker corrected. “They are called Ratlings and this is the Chieftain, leader of Ratlings. In case you are wondering, I’m a Werewolf, those hounds surrounding you are called Hellhounds and the bats above us are called Explosion Bats.”
Silence greeted her statement before The Grand himself asked, “The dark mage named you? Why are you calling us these things?”
The Speaker smiled and answered. “There is no dark mage, only the Creators, and I’m telling you all this because…well, wouldn’t it be better if you know what the creatures killing you are called?”
The Speaker laughed and the laughter was taken up by the rest of the Kin. The Speaker could see the circle of humans getting smaller before her eyes. The humans were scared. Then all their eyes got wider. Faces of fear were replaced with looks of pure shock. The humans were not looking at her, but beyond her. The Speaker turned around and saw the creature that had shocked the humans.
Floating in the air at the entrance of the Boss Room was the winged pink creature the Creator had been so proud of. Porkasus, the flying pig, had heard the call of the Creator too. The next sound the Speaker heard was laughter; laughter from the humans!
The Speaker turned back to the humans and they were all laughing at the Porkasus. Then one of the warriors shouted, “A flying pig? What? The dark mage ran out of useful things to make so he wasted his time making a flying piece of pork? What’s next? A fox with nine tails? A…”
The human never got to finish. The Speaker felt it rather than saw it. A wind swept past her and the next thing she knew, the human warrior was tumbling in the air. When the human landed, his face was missing. It was as if his face had caved into his head. A defiant oink came from across the room and everyone, Kin and humans, looked at the source of the sound.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
The Porkasus was now on the other side of the giant room. The flying pig landed and flapped its wings once, next thing the Speaker saw was a streak of light flying towards the humans. The Porkasus flew through the legs of the humans and the Speaker heard the sickening cracks of bones breaking. 3 humans went down screaming in pain, clutching their broken shins and shattered kneecaps. The screaming broke the Kin out of their inertia and they attacked.
Seeing the movement of the Kin, the Explosion Bats dived towards the humans. The Grand raised a barrier to engulf all the humans and the bats exploded against the barrier. The Kin piled on the attack and the barrier held but the Speaker wasn’t discouraged. She didn’t join in the attack as she was still in her wolfgirl form but she knew it was a matter of time before the barrier cracked. Then a movement from the humans made her pause. They were all looking up behind her. The Speaker could guess what they were looking at but she turned anyway.
She looked up and saw the Porkasus. It was high up in the air, almost at the ceiling of the Boss Room. Then the Speaker saw it flapped its wings and a streak of light shot towards the barrier. A loud clang sound resonant through the room. For a brief moment, the Speaker saw the snout of the Porkasus pressed against the barrier of The Grand…then the barrier blew apart.
The force of the blow threw the surrounding creatures backwards, and a shout came from the humans. As one, they charged to the exit. The only one still standing in their way was the Speaker.
As she was further away from the barrier, the Speaker was not affected by the force of the exploding barrier and she was not going to allow them to escape the room. The Speaker changed to her Werewolf form and stood in front of the charging humans, she needed to hold them back till the rest of the Kin could recover.
The first human was on her, swinging his sword. The Speaker took a step back, waited for the sword to swing by, and then jumped in. Her claws swiped against the face of the warrior and the Speaker immediately jumped back out of range. His cry of pain stopped the humans. If the group had just kept on the charge, they probably would have got through her but the Speaker had proved that whoever leading the charge would suffer for his courage.
“Duck!”
The human warriors squatted down at the call and the Speaker saw a mage from the back casting a spell. An ice spike shot at her but the Speaker dodged it easily. Seeing the missed shot, two hunters shot at her. The Speaker just crouched down on all fours and the arrows flew over her. Then a streak of light came through the group of humans from the side and 3 of them got thrown into the air. The trio landed in pain and the Speaker saw that one of the humans had a broken leg. She guessed there was a reason why the Creator was so proud of the Porkasus; its snout must be made of iron!
The humans were visibly deflated by the attack from the Porkasus and by now, the rest of the Kin had recovered. As the rest of the Kin took their place beside the Speaker, the humans took steps backwards. Then a sight the Speaker never thought she would see happened; behind the group of humans stood The Grand and he had taken out a scroll.
“A Scroll of Recall! The Grand is trying to escape. Stop him!”
At the Speaker’s shout, the Kin surged forward. The dispirited human line collapsed like paper and the Speaker broke through the line, charging at The Grand. The Grand saw her but continued his chanting. It did not matter. The Speaker knew he would be too late. The Speaker leapt, arms outstretched, claws pointed, and…froze.
The Speaker’s eye blinked quickly numerous times, taken completely by surprise. She was caught in some sort of spell that held her in place. The Grand smiled at her but did not stop his chant. The Speaker was furious. The so-called great mage was going to run from a battle, leaving his men to die. Then in a small burst of light…The Grand’s head disappeared.
The speaker saw the effects of a Scroll of Recall before. After a short chant, a small burst of light would engulf the caster and the caster would be teleported to his desired location. However right now, only the head of The Grand had disappeared, the rest of his body was still here. The spell holding the Speaker ended and she landed on the ground. She looked around and saw her answer.
The Porkasus was there looking at her with a look of happiness. It must have attacked at the exact moment the burst of light happened, taking out The Grand just as the Scroll of Recall was coming into effect. The Speaker marveled both at the speed of the flying pig and at its intelligence. The Speaker smiled back at the Porkausu and it gave her a delighted oink in response. The Speaker never thought of it but the Porkasus was really quite cute.
All around her, the Kin was finishing off the humans. The battle was over and then the Speaker heard the flapping of wings. The Speaker looked at the source of the sound and it was coming from the exit of the third floor. A few moments later, the Speaker saw the wings of the flyers. It was the children; the ones that were too young to fight. The Kin placed them at the fifth floor for their protection and now 5 of them had flown up…and they were carrying the stone slab of the Creator.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”
The Chieftain beat the Speaker to the question. The fight may be over but it was still too soon for the Creator to come up. In fact, the Speaker would be more comfortable if the Creator never come up from the safety of the fifth floor forest. The five flyers placed the stone slab of the Creator gently on the ground, looking flustered at the shout of the Chieftain. Then one of them, Momo the harpy, answered the Chieftain.
“It insisted and…well, we couldn’t say no.”
The Speaker looked at the Creator and noticed a difference. It took a while before she could place it but it looked to her like the five lights around the Creator were glowing a little brighter than usual. Not for the first time the Speaker wondered what the lights were for but before she could ask the Creator, one of the lights began to glow brighter than the rest.
The five lights always spin around the Creator but that glowing light slowly began to float up above the Creator. Then the other four lights stopped moving and the glowing light above the Creator slowly began to move towards the fallen second Creator. The glowing light entered the second Creator and the red crystal began to glow. Moments passed and the Speaker could do nothing but look at the glowing second Creator. More moments passed and none of the creatures dared moved. Then there was a movement. The second Creator moved. The red crystal shook, then it shook again, and then it began to float. It floated upright and the hellhounds around the Speaker began to bark in delight.
The second Creator was back!
