The Dolls of New Albion
Chapter 46 Crier's Boulevard : John

Chapter 46 Crier's Boulevard : John

John woke up in pain on his bed in his bunker, he looked at his wound, it had been repaired with mechanical patches and synthetic skin. He sat up and walked over to the kitchen, he grabbed a glass of water. “Damn, what is going to happen soon?”

He looked at his mannequins, “Have I been on the wrong side all these years? My wife had a lovely doll, I almost forgot that. She got blown up, along with my wife. I left Constance, my biggest regret. They distracted me with words, but the next time, I am ready to destroy them.”

The bunker door opened up, A general stormed in and looked at John, who saluted, “Yes, sir? What do you need?”

“John, how are you feeling today? I hope the operation was successful, and you are ready to fight, to pay them back.”

“Yes, sir, I am, what is it that you require of me?”

“I have gotten reports that all the rebels, and all the Voodoopunks have gathered and are marching towards our main headquarters. We have called everyone back from the border to protect the radio broadcast towers. There are two of them on Crier’s Boulevard.”

“How many men are we facing, Sir?”

“We estimate they have around three thousand men marching our way, and they split up, two thousand of them are heading for the second broadcast tower, Jackie, and a woman named Charlotte are heading there. We believe Jackie has the MCG, your sister.”

John let out a sigh, “What do you want me to do Sir?”

“I want you to command three thousand of our men, and kill all the rebels. I will send two thousand men to the other broadcast tower. We expect you to aid them once you are done with eradicating them.”

John nodded, “To which area will you dispatch the Blood Red Dogs?”

“I will dispatch them to the main broadcast tower where Byron and Fay are heading. We outnumber them, if we crush them now, we rule New Albion. This is the moment you were made for John, you are indestructible. Can you do this, soldier?”

“Of course, sir, dispatch me right away to Crier’s Boulevard, I will give my life to serve you!”

“Good, now go, we need our army to be ready as soon as possible.”

John made his way to the second radio broadcast tower, he had never seen Crier’s boulevard before, he was just a disposable soldier, always on the front lines. The military army slowly came in sight.

Criers Boulevard is a prominent and strategically significant thoroughfare in New Albion, marked by its long stretch, lined with imposing military structures. The boulevard is well-maintained, its wide and clean streets bustling with military personnel going about their duties. The architecture along the boulevard reflects the disciplined and authoritarian nature of the military presence.

Criers Boulevard spans a considerable length, offering a clear view of the military facilities that flank its sides. The street is straight and well organized, contributing to the efficiency of military operations. The boulevard is flanked by numerous military buildings, each serving a specific purpose in the command and control structure. These structures are characterized by their solid, imposing facades, often made of durable materials to withstand potential threats.

The boulevard is alive with the constant activity of military personnel. Soldiers in uniform move purposefully along the street, engaging in drills, coordinating logistics, and maintaining a vigilant watch.

The boulevard runs parallel to the towering Giant Wall of New Albion, a colossal barrier that separates the city from the surrounding unknown. This wall is a constant reminder of the military’s control over the city and the formidable defense they maintain. John took place in front of the military army, he had been granted leadership as the super soldier, he took a good look at his units.

The soldiers are organized into ordered ranks, forming a solid and imposing wall of military might. Each row of soldiers stands at attention, displaying a disciplined and regimented formation that reflects the extensive training they have undergone.

The soldiers wear matching uniforms, adding to the visual impact of their collective strength. The uniformity creates a sense of unity and purpose, reinforcing the cohesion of the military force.

Some soldiers carry flags or banners displaying military insignia, unit emblems, or the symbol of New Albion. These symbols serve as both a source of identity and a rally point for the troops. The soldiers maintain a focused and determined demeanor, their expressions reflecting a readiness for battle. Faces are stern, eyes sharp, and every movement is calculated as they await the approaching threat.

There’s a palpable sense of anticipation in the air, with the soldiers mentally preparing for the confrontation ahead. Nervous energy is channeled into controlled readiness, emphasizing the gravity of the impending clash. John gave some orders, putting soldiers in tactical position to protect the radio broadcast tower.

John opened and closed his fists, waiting for the moment the Voodoopunks will arrive, it would not take very long, he had no idea what was going on the other side of the Crier’s Boulevard. As he waited, he thought back.

He was just a teenager when the riots began, he did see Vivian dance during some of their rituals. He cannot believe that everything escalated into this. A massive all out war, inside New Albion, and this would be the place where it would be decided, who will rule. What would have happened if Vivian had not died? John was ripped out of his thoughts as he heard the thunderous footsteps of the impending army. In front, were three people, Jack, a rebel leader, Jackie, and Charlotte.

John held up his hand to his soldiers, he walked forward, hoping they could talk before this chaos would unleash. Jackie, Charlotte, and Jack came his way. John looked at them, “We outnumber you, on both fronts. Do you see how futile your attempts are?”

Jackie stared at him, “John, what have they done to you?”

John stared at her, “Nothing, I did not want them to do, I have been fighting and crushing rebels this whole war. That is why I left, I joined the military.”

Jackie shed a tear, “No, how could you do that, to me? To New Albion, and most of all, your daughter.”

John grumbled, “It is these damn Voodoopunks! The goddamn military wanted Annabel’s research, that is why they came up with this plan, to rule New Albion. They wanted to get rid of the dolls and summon their own undead perfect army. But Edgar, he got in the way.”

Charlotte gasped, “That is what Byron meant, Edgar was protecting us all along, from you!”

John sighed, “Look, I know you have the MCG, you are not going to get into this tower.”

Jackie stammered, “I will fight you, if I need to, John, and I will not hold back. We will crush your army with our free spirit and take back New Albion. Don’t you see, our parents were Voodoopunks? Your lover, Vivian, she was a Voodoopunk.”

John screamed at her, “She blew up!”

Jackie let out a deep sigh, “I have to admit you look dangerous, it seems like you haven’t figured out yourself what side you are on.”

“I know damn well what side I am on, I am going to wipe the floor with you, we have better gear, more men, you are on our turf now.”

Jackie stepped closer, “Please, John, this is not the way, I can show you the way, just, lower your walls for me. Join us, I am sorry we grew apart. You could have stayed with me, away from the war. Just like-”

He screamed in her face, “Don't say her name to me. I left her, alone, with you,” he shed a tear, “I, regret that moment, but I am all alone, she will never forgive me for what I have done. It is time to lock and load, Crier’s boulevard is about to get bloody, with your corpses.” He walked back to his army, “They have the MCG. We cannot let them get into this station!”

They all stamped their feet, “You can count on us, sir! We will guard this station with our lives, we will destroy them, for the military!”

John took a deep breath and looked at the opposing army, everyone stared at each other, it was going to be minutes before all hell would be unleashed. Was Jackie right, am I on the wrong side? Are they just, going to control New Albion? Is, my daughter with the rebels? Is she on this side, or the other side?

John charged up his flamethrower as he saw the other side getting ready to advance, “This is it, this is what you have trained for, the military will show these rebels what we stand for. Are you ready, to retake New Albion?”

They all screamed, “Yes, sir!”

As the Voodoopunks army started moving, John made gestures and the impending clash, was a certainty.
