Chapter 45 Crier's Boulevard : Voodoopunks

Chapter 45 Crier's Boulevard : Voodoopunks

The next morning, the day that the assault would take place, Jackie found herself sitting in the meeting area with a glass of water. Soon, all hell would break loose. Thomas walked over to her, “Jackie?”

She looked up, “Yes?”

“I am sorry for what I did to Constance.”

“You should apologize to her because, you never know when you lose the one you love. We are about to undertake a dangerous mission, not all of us might make it out alive.”

Thomas looked down, “Did you, lose your loved one?”

Jackie sighed deeply, “I did, and do you know why?”

“Well?”

“Because she had my doll, after the riots, Dorothy and I held parties, soirées. Despite the soldiers had taken command of New Albion, we enjoyed in secret. When I was with her, I felt as if time stood still. Her painful seduction, those were the best of times.”

Thomas shed a tear, “Did you, did you go on dates with her, despite the military?”

“Yes, we went to a circus, on the outskirts of town, we talked for hours. About how one day, we would all be free. At that time, I believed Byron was dead. Dorothy was all I had to lean on. Amelia, a good friend of mine, she died before the riots.”

Thomas looked at the corners of her eyes welling inside her eyes, “Was she, a good person?”

Jackie nodded, “Yes, she was, she was a rich person, the mansion I live in, was hers. She was the life of every party, my lovely Dorothy. She danced with Byron and I, back when the dolls were the hype, before your age. But as times darkened, the military upped its game.”

“What do you mean, upped its game?”

“The doors all got locked, the parties all stopped. I was on a mission to help a stranded Voodoopunk, I came back to an empty mansion. They had taken her away, I learned quickly to drink scotch alone in a dark room, forsaken.”

Thomas rubbed his eyes, “Man, that is horrible, did you ever find out what happened to Dorothy?”

“Yes, I did, it would have been better if she had died. I, I.”

Thomas sat down next to her, “You can talk to me.”

“I saw her again, years had passed, I still thought, I still do think about her every day. She was sewing clothes in a room without fans. She didn’t know me anymore. There was no way she could.”

“What do you mean?”

“The military doctors have this trick, with a pick, the doctor gives you a nick, and it makes you docile real quick.” Jackie shed tears, “I shot her, to put her out of her misery.”

Thomas looked at the bustling meeting room, “I am sorry, Jackie, I did not know what kind of masters I served. Paul showed me, how he found the way. What is our next move?”

Jackie coughed and sighed a few times, “We are going to war, we are going to take down those masters of you once and for all. Byron is setting everything up.”

Constance walked their way, now wearing regular clothes, “Hey, are you two friends again?”

Jackie let out a sad smile and a tear rolled down her cheek, “Yeah, we are fine, how are you, dear?”

Constance sighed, “Well, I am about to walk into the biggest war zone ever, take over a radio broadcast station, and use Thomas to enchant the soldiers. Then you guys are going to kill everyone. I am not doing so well.”

Thomas got up and took her hand, “Constance, I am truly sorry, my past life, Paul, it seems our lives, our souls are somehow intertwined. I will fight for you, and destroy the military.”

Constance looked at him, “What happened to you during that ritual?”

“I think, a ghost pushed his way into my brain, and he showed me how he rejected the military, how he died, to ignite the spark. The Voodoopunks are preparing for the battle up ahead, the rebels are gathered. All of New Albion has been summoned to fight.”

Jackie got up, “This is it, today, we decide who rules New Albion, the military who have pushed us into the ground, killed innocent people, destroyed their hopes, they stand for death and destruction. We will show them, what we can do. With our MCG, we are going to fucking murder them all.”

Constance blinked a few times, “Well, my aunt is usually not that aggressive.”

Byron walked into the meeting room, “Everyone, listen to me!” Everyone in the room went silent. “Today, we prepare for battle, not just a battle, the battle at Crier’s Boulevard. With our army, we will storm them, we have a plan in motion to enchant them, to destroy them. This is it!”

Everyone cheered, a Voodoopunk spoke up, “What is the plan?”

“The greater deal of you will go with Jackie and Charlotte, to take control of the second broadcast tower on Crier’s Boulevard, as most of the forces think she has the MCG. Fay, I, Constance and Thomas, with a smaller force will infiltrate the real target. With his helmet, we can transmit directly into their masks. Through all broadcast stations. Now, let us march up ahead to meet our rebel forces.”

As they stormed through the sewers, the echoing of boots, ready for war, Charlotte sighed, “I still hope this all goes according to plan.”

Fay grinned, “I have dibs on the leader who sent the military into the riots, I am going to make him pay for what he has done to Silof.”

Thomas looked at Constance, “This is insane, are we actually going to do this?”

Constance nodded, “I think, this is what we are supposed to do, to save New Albion. Look at all these Voodoopunks, they have been hiding for so long, and now they are coming out of their tunnels.”

Jackie sighed deeply, realizing she might have to face her brother. The future of New Albion, rests on their shoulders, and the outcome of this battle. As they came out of the tunnels, and walked over the streets of New Albion, a massive force of rebels stood in front of them.

Byron climbed on top of a table, his voice boomed, “This is it, Voodoopunks, and rebels, once you burned us down. I told you, it was a mistake. But you didn’t listen, and here we are.” He looked at the platoon leader, now an older man, and leader of the rebels. “He killed my daughter, he emptied his magazine. We killed you, in the riots.”

Byron took a deep breath, “Now, years later, nineteen years have passed since the riots began, we are finally at the moment that we can free New Albion. This time, listen to me, listen, or you will once again be denied freedom, here we stand with three thousand men. This, is the end, the battle that will decide it all. We have the MCG, we have a policeman on our side, they have a super soldier.”

The platoon leader cheered, “If my name is not Jack, then fuck me because I am done with this shit, we follow Byron into the depths of hell, we are going to Criers Boulevard as a united force. Because separated, we fell. Byron is right, he has always been right. Many may not make it out alive today. But do we care?”

Everyone screamed, “No!”

“That is right, because if you die for a free New Albion, then the next generation will not have to witness such horrible things we saw, to fight. We want peace for the people who come after us, isn’t that right, Byron?”

He nodded, “They took our freedom, but they can never take away, our will to fight! And that is what we are going to do, lock and load because this is the moment we have all been waiting for. Jack, take the largest force and be the distraction for us. After today, we will tear down the walls!”

Everyone cheered and as Jack made the gesture, people started following him, Charlotte gave a kiss to Byron, “I love you, I will see you after the battle, okay?”

Byron shed a tear, “Don’t do something stupid, okay? I love you too much for that.”

Charlotte just grinned at him, “Hey, I am not you,” she ran after the force of two thousand men followed by Jackie.

Byron sighed deeply and looked at his mother, “Are you ready for this?”

Fay nodded, “I am, Come on people, it is time to show those buffoons what we can do, how deep we can stomp them into the ground.”

As they started marching, Constance and Thomas followed them, the boots thundered through the labyrinth streets of New Albion. People looked from their homes, this was the day they had all been waiting for, the decisive battle for New Albion, today they either would get suppressed more, or the walls will be torn down for freedom. To think, this all happened because Annabel, resurrected the dead all those years ago.
