As he slept, he heard a sweet voice calling out his name. "Izanagi, hellooo?!"

He opened his eyes to see Mai, and he groaned. "What do you want, Mai? I'm sleeping."

"Lunch is ready, but if you're sleeping, I don't want to disturb you," she said.

"I'm not hungry anyway. Hmph."

"But I cooked your favorite dish today. If you don't want it, I'll eat it all," she teased.

"Fine, fine. I'm coming," he grumbled as he got up.

As he ate, Izanagi wondered why Mai called him by his dummy name, Izanagi.

Because His real name, Rudra, was so powerful that if a mortal spoke it, their body would crumble into pieces.

"But calling me Izanagi won't harm them," he thought. "It's just a name to help them remember me.

"I'm sorry, my Lord," Renjiro said.

"Drop the 'Lord' and just call me Izanagi. You've taken care of me for 16 years. You're like a father to me," Izanagi said.

"But my Lord-"

"No buts. That's the way I like it," he said with a smile.

After lunch, Mai headed out. As they walked, he realized that the manga shop and the bakery were also present near her school.

"Hey, Mai, let's go together. I have some stuffs today too," he said.

"Okay, but you have to eat fast or I'm leaving without you," she teased.

As they left, Renjiro called out to him. "Izanagi, come back soon!"

"I will. Take care, Renjiro. You're like a father to me," he said with a wave.

(It had been years since Izanagi and Mai had gone out like this. They walked down the street, reminiscing about old times.)

"Remember when you were attacked by a devil and I protected you?" Izanagi said, grinning.

Mai rolled her eyes. "How could I forget?

I carried you home on my back with your torn clothes, injured foot, crying and snot all over my shirt." Izanagi starts to Laugh

A sudden bag flew out of nowhere and smacked Izanagi right in the face, sending him flying three meters away.

"What was that for, Mai?" he asked, rubbing his sore cheek.

"Why do you even remember that embarrassing moment? If you keep this up, you'll never have a wife," she snapped back.

But Izanagi was undeterred. "What are you talking about? I'm going to marry you! Your good cooking, your beautiful cooking, your gorgeous cooking, your appealing cooking-"

Another punch cut him off. "What is with all the compliments about cooking? Do you even know what love is?" Mai asked, exasperated.

"I know what love is," Izanagi replied, serious for once.

"Then what is love?" Mai challenged.

"You dumbass, leave it. There's no way I can win against you," Izanagi admitted defeat.

As they arrived at the manga store, Izanagi bought his favorite manga while Mai waited outside.

He also popped into the bakery to grab some sweets, but Mai refused to order anything. While Izanagi went to the washroom, he suddenly heard a noise and his ears pricked up.

Then, a demon smashed through the bakery wall and attacked Mai.

A demon jumped over Mai. Mai was being attacked by the demon. She tried to defend but to no avail.

Just as she was about to be killed.

A Voice came hey

You bastard!!!

Izanagi......

Izanagi was furious. "You bastard! I won't do anything if you mess with me, but touching my beloved, you will pay for it, you demon!"

The demon tried to attack him, but Izanagi easily dodged all the blows.

Is that all you got?

Curse you Human!!!

When the demon powered up for a one-punch attack, Izanagi was unfazed

Mai hugged him, crying tears of relief. "I remember it was just like back then when you protected me," she said.

Yosh Yosh, Izanagi pats her head.

Suddenly, a group of high elites appeared and questioned them about the demon attack.

When they saw Mai covered in blood, they assumed that she had killed the demon. Izanagi was not present there, and Mai tried to point out that he had saved her, but they did not believe her.

"Phew, that was a close one I didn't want the stoplight so I escaped".

"Anyways I got my stuff and let fly back to the temple it will be faster while eating one of the sweets".

Just then a boy on a bicycle, speeding up went past him.

The boy sense tingled.

When he looked back there was no one.

"Phew now that was a close one, I never thought I would see him here".

"Anyways let's head back it's been a hard day for me".

Later, as they reached the training center, an announcer instructed everyone to make groups of two. Suddenly, Kazuki Nakajima, who had heard of Mai's bravery that morning, approached her and asked if they could team up.

"Hi, my name is Kazuki," he introduced himself.
