I go into the basement and sit on my chair. I open my notebook made out of large white leaves that Lami told me she found on the east side of the forest on some white trees. I pick up a thin pen-shaped black rock that I use to write in my notebook and spin it on my fingers once. I open another book that was made out of proper paper but was old and rough. I put the book to the left and my leaf notebook on my right.

In the last 3 months, I have come to know a lot about this world, the forest, and my current situation.

This was possible thanks to all the stuff left by the heroes that were summoned here through the hero-summing ritual.

There were books, mangas, small gadgets, and even recordings. The recordings were done with a magic crystal that a Hero, who was known as the Sage, made for his entertainment. Lamina and Lami could only use some of the crystals because most of them had a password on them. Still, the crystals they watched were enough for them to get an idea of how English worked and they could somewhat read thanks to those.

I was lucky enough to find the password in one of the books I was reading. The password was three words that needed to be said in an order. The words were difficult to read and the letters were jumbled up so the others probably could not have solved this. I got the sequence on my second try and started to study the recordings and the other stuff. To understand my current situation, I needed to study the history of this world and see if there was any record of people appearing here after their death.

This world is called Ariwarsle.

It is a world of swords and magic similar to the ones I have read about in novels and manga.

There are 6 major races, that have their Kingdoms, and some minor races, that have their own clans.

The 6 major races are Humans, Elves, Dragons, Beastmen, Witches, and Demons.

And like in all the stories, the demons were once at war with the other races. They wanted to conquer them and be the only major race with the others under them. The other races were obviously opposed to being slaves, so a Word War began.

The humans were large in number but were weaker in terms of magical and physical attributes. So they proposed to form an alliance with the other races to fight the demons. The Elves and Beastmen joined the alliance even though their relations with the humans were not great because the demons were a bigger problem. On the other hand, the Dragons refused and decided to fight the demons on their own. They did not want to fight together with races that they considered inferior, they were too proud for that. The Witches were neutral so they too refused the treaty. Since they helped anyone who offered them money, there was no threat of demons attacking their country, and that way they could also profit from both sides without any losses.

It was not that the demons didn’t want to conquer the Witch Queendom. It was more like if the witches stopped their support to demons and only supported the other races, things could get ugly and the demons might lose the war.

Mainly because of the Dragon race.

The dragons were physically stronger than the demons and were only a little inferior in magical abilities and Mana.

They could have given the demons a tough time if it were not for the witches providing them with weakening spells, that worked on dragons, and Power Boost potions, that helped demons match the dragons in physical power. It was also a good thing for the demons that the dragons did not join the alliance. In that way, the demons just needed to keep the dragons occupied in another place while they fight the other races.

When everything was over and the demons were in control, then they would go and attack the witches.

The witches understood the mentality of the demons and only gave them minimal support while giving enough to the other races so they didn't lose to the demons. The Witches thought they would stop supporting the demons when they started to get the upper hand in the war and defeat them by joining the alliance when enough profit was made.

They provided the other races with medium-grade potions, instant spell scrolls, communication tools, and many other things. On the other hand, the demons would get low-grade potions, defective spell scrolls, and one-time-use gadgets. The demons knew the witches were not giving them the good stuff but they could do nothing about it. If they messed with the Witches, they might just stop selling to them.

Hence a balance was kept for some time with the witches enjoying the riches.

The humans and others went to the Witch Queendom so they could stop this stupid war but the Witches just told the alliance to stop bothering them or they would stop selling to them. Hence nothing could have been done about this situation, since the humans were dependent on the witch potions too, and the war continued.

6 years passed with this balanced state when suddenly, the demons started getting an upper hand. They had started gathering the other minor races such as Vampires, Werewolves, Dark Elves, Rogues of other Races, and many others to their side and made them buy high-quality stuff from the witches in large quantities. The Witches did not think much of these purchases and were happy to get the money.

When the witches saw the alliance getting overwhelmed by demon forces, they got worried and stopped selling to the demons and the minor races. The witches never expected the small clans to work with the demons and made a grave mistake.

They knew that if the alliance lost, they would become the next target of the demon forces, so they too decided to join the alliance and participate in the war directly.

The dragons were still fighting alone and losing because of the high-grade stuff the demons got from the Witches thanks to the minor races. Their kingdom was on the verge of destruction when the alliance came and helped them.

The dragons were grateful and, at the same time, ashamed for needing help from such inferior races. Still, they decided to join the alliance and repay them for their help. But even when all the races decided to fight together, things did not get better. This was because of the Demon Goddess, Benigore The Wicked and Corrupt, who took interest in this war.

When she saw all the slaughter that was going on, she decided to give the demons a little bit of her power and at the same time increase her followers. The condition to use that power was that they needed to kill and offer sacrifices to her. Now the demons were getting stronger and stronger because their god kept giving them more and more power the more they slaughtered in her name.

It was not like the other races did not have Gods that could help them. Their Gods chose to do nothing and just watch the outcome as most gods rarely interfered in the affairs of the mortal world. They just provided their followers with some benefits the more they worshiped them. All the races understood that no definite help will come from their Gods and that they were fighting a losing war.

When everyone had lost hope, a ray of light came. It was the hero-summing ritual offered to humans by the goddess of light, Alnera.

There were two prominent Goddesses the humans worshiped with some other small Gods and Goddesses. One was Alnera, Goddess of Light and Hope, and the other was Varelia, Goddess of Love and Purity.

Varelia had the biggest religion and Alnera was the second biggest before the war. But when the war began, Alnera’s followers started to grow while Varelia’s started to diminish. The reason was that while Alnera was blessing them with combat abilities and giving them blessed weapons that could kill demons through her temples, Varelia could only offer them healing and peace of mind. Varelia loved her followers and wanted to help them but she could only provide healing. She cared about her follower so much that she even started using her divinity to bless her temples.

The blessing made it so even if you were on death's door, after you spend some time in her temple, you would survive and recover. Many gods called her stupid for sacrificing her divinity, as it took thousands of years to discover and would leave her in a weakened state, but she gave them no mind. At the start, people really appreciated what she was doing but when they compared her to Alnera, they felt that it was not enough. The people needed more than just peace of mind and healing, they needed ways to defeat the demons and Alnera gave them that way.

Alnera was different from the other gods and liked to interact with her followers every chance she could get. When she saw all her followers getting killed in the war, she could take it no more and decided to look for a way to help them. She would descend to the mortal world if she could, but that was forbidden by the World's Will. You could only decend to the mortal world if you give up on all your divinity.

Instead, she convinced the God of Time and the Goddess of Space to lend her some of their divinity so she could help the humans. She combined their power with her own and the hero summoning ritual was born.

When the hero summing ritual was introduced, people were doubting the goddess and the hero that game from some unknown world but in just a year, the hero managed to slay two generals with minimum casualties.

People were thrilled and excited.

They finally had a way to end this war.

They finally had their hope, the Hero.

Alnera’s popularity made her religion number one all over the world while Varelia's was declining slowly. But she never thought of abandoning her followers and kept using her divinity. Then one day, she suddenly disappeared and stopped answering prayers. No one knew where she went, not even the gods, and after some time, no one cared. They were busy fighting the war and thought that she had abandoned them because of her jealousy of Alnera. So people stopped worshipping her and demolished her temples.

In another 5 years, the hero and his party, which consisted of representatives from each major race, made it to the Demon Lord's Castle.

He killed his remaining two generals and finally the demon lord with such ease that people were left dumbfounded. The war that had taken so much from them and had been going on for years just ended like that.

Benigore also had abandoned the demons and was nowhere to be found. This made the demons angry and Worshiping her was forbidden from then on.

Now that everything was over, the other races wanted to annihilate the demon race completely so no such tragedy could occur again.

But the hero refused.

He instead proposed to make peace with them. All the races were opposed but when the goddess gave her support to the hero's decision, no objections came.

The daughter of the previous demon lord took her father's throne.

She had no interest in conquering the other kingdoms and always called her father stupid for even trying. She swore an oath to the hero that no such thing will happen again until her bloodline ruled the demons.

She was known as the “Lazy Queen” but still kept the other demons in control. The others also followed her since she had the power to rule them and make them listen.

And just like that, Peace was restored.

The world enjoyed 500 hundred years of peace and it was supposed to continue just like that but things changed when something went wrong with the hero summoning ritual and a different kind of hero came.

Instead of hope, she brought despair.

Instead of a righteous heart, she had a twisted one.

She was known thorough out the world as the “Insane Hero”.
