After the encounter with the people in the slums, Akuezhor had requested me to aid them or at least investigate the matter to which how did they get themselves into this. He wasn’t particularly in a good mood, which you can tell just by looking at his body language and especially since he was grinding his teeth after he made his request to me. I’ve also wanted to help them; however, we need information if we were to act to help them. The most needed information would probably be, ‘What has happened to them,’ and ‘Who did it?’. How should I go with this?. I at least should summon ‘Eyeball Corpses’ to gather intel of whatever kind that may be required to find the source of the problem.
I took out a couple of ‘Eyeball Corpses’ from the storage and commanded half of them to observe the slums. This is too warn me if someone were to enter the slum area, I would know. They began to slowly vanish and disappear while I felt that they are currently heading to the slums. For the other half of the intelligence squad, I commanded them to look around the city for any important looking people. They were to tell me if anything is unusual such as someone is acting suspiciously in the dark or always checking who might perhaps followed them. Maybe I would get involved in a conspiracy who fucking knows. After issuing this, the intelligence squad headed off to do their jobs. When they completely vanished out of sight, Akuezhor came up in front of me,
“Master, you shall forever have my gratitude,” Akuezhor said as he bowed to me.
“No problem.” I replied. That being said, I guess I did this only because of the pity I felt towards them. In the former world, I always did ignored the homeless and the people sleeping on the streets. Many of them were actually just lazy asses. Though I am sure that there are others that were unfortunate in their life. Shit happens always in life. The people in the slums I haved encountered were different than most of the homeless I have seen. The difference I seen between them and the other world is the sense of giving up hope. They truly had given up because of something major.
Getting out of the remote place in the kingdom because I was taking out my Eyeball Corpses, I went towards the Adventurer’s Guild to kill some time with quests. Getting inside there, I walked to the bulletin to grab myself a quest. Taking a look at the different quests available right right, I could say that I am not that interested in doing these things right now in my current mood. Nevertheless, I took several quests that included beastman hunting and ogre hunting. These quests are actually higher rank then D rank. They are A rank honestly. The ogre wouldn’t be normally be an A rank, but now they are starting to frequently attack in huge groups. The reason why is that I am able to take these quests was because I have read a notice on top of the bulletin just a few seconds ago that says the following:
Adventurers are now allowed to take quests higher than the current rank they are.
Adventurers shall be assigned appropriate rankings depending on their success on the quests they took. Your ranking would be updates every month. You either stay at your rank or promote to a higher one.
Adventurers …….
It continues on. However, I have read the first 2 changes in the Guild was what caught my attention the most. It seems that the king is trying to get rid of monster invasions by removing the restrictions that they had before. If people were to kill an immensely strong monster without any rewards, why should they do it in the first place? What is the point in trying to put effort to do something good if you won’t even be rewarded with a “thanks” at least once.
Making sure my Eyeball Corpses are doing their work through my mental connection with them, I then exited the gates of the kingdom to do my job. I guess I shall just do the beastman quest. As for the ogre quest, I already have some materials in my inventory to use as proof when I turn in my quests.
Currently walking on a trail to the location of beastman that should be located NW of the Kingdom of Pledia, which I was previously at a few moments ago, I am on my way there alone with Nemaus who is lazing off on me as always. Akuezhor didn’t come as he wanted to also investigate with his own methods. From what I can see, he seems very determined to help out anyone who doesn’t deserve such a life.
Especially the starving children. I can still remember those kids sleeping on their parents laps with the dried tears on their faces. Feeling sadness for them, all I can probably do is to aid them in anyway possible. However, can I really give them a future where they can live at least in comfort? I gave Akuezhor a ‘Message Scroll’ so that he may contact me when he was ready.
With that thought, I activated Flight to rush the quests I am doing. Raising up into the air, I quickly flew to my desired destination. No longer than 10 minutes passed, I arrived and landed near the Silent Forest which was said that the beastmen inhabits this place were causing problems in traveling even when hiring near peak human potential escorts. They have been coming out of the forest more often in the past few months attacking travelers.
The reason why it was named the Silent Forest was because no one that has entered, came out alive when they were trying to eradicate the beastmen living in there. Though there were actually survivors, just that they were only the few out of the hundreds to live.. No one knows much about beastmen in general;however, physical strength seems to be their main usage in fights. They don’t use weapons such as maces or a giantsword.
Their fighting capabilities were largely dependent on their strength, speed, and reflexes. Everything physical. If they were to go against any race, human, demi-human, elf, but excluding dragons, they are capable of dealing lots of damage to any race. All beastmen senses are ridiculously sharp even for a normal animal. So when they know that an invasion is coming, they would run quickly away. They are very troublesome bunch to everyone.
Entering the Silent Forest, I observed my surroundings. Plants, trees, bushes, dirt. Seems to be just a normal forest in my eyes. Passing through the many trees, which I didn’t noticed their were quite a number of scratch marks on it meaning I passed through a certain territory. Going into their territory unknowingly, Nemaus stood up, lifting his ears to different directions from where we are at. What is he doing? I am sure he only acts like this when something is coming our way with hostile intent. Knowing this, I turned on ‘Soul Sense’ to spot anything that is coming towards me. I think I should just let my ‘Soul Sense’ passive be on from now on. I wasn’t really used to seeing people while seeing their souls in them, but perhaps I should do this for safety reasons.
I have to admit that Nemaus really have been helping me a lot. Especially when I don’t know what is coming after me. His senses aided me very well.
With my senses, I could feel a couple of blue souls a couple of meters away, slowly surrounded me in a circle. Numbering fifty, they successfully circled me. A beastmen that looked like wolf standing on its two hind legs, came out along with 5 others wolfman coming up behind him. Nemaus got off my shoulder, landing on the ground silently as he growled at them.
The beastmen who was leading the other 5 wolves had his head up higher than the others. Showing his confidence that he is capable of anything and achieving anything he desires. That particular beastman feels different than the others. While he looked almost the same as any other wolfman without much of a difference in height.
Although there is a slight difference which is located on the his face where a few claw marked scars was over his left eye. It displays his past how he battled other wolves to gain the position of alpha in the pack.
The Wolfman looked at Nemaus with interest growled at Nemaus while ignoring my very existence as if I wasn't there in the first place, and Nemaus in return growled back to the alpha wolf. His subordinates feeling anger from the display of defiance against their leader, released killing intent towards Nemaus.
‘Are they perhaps speaking in some kind of language?’ Nemaus, being affected by their aggression, starts to tremble. Being interested in what was going on, I asked him with a curious tone,
“Did they say something to you Nemaus?”
As I said this, Nemaus’s face twitch in response. Replying to my question, he answered in an irritated manner,
“Those lowly dogs dared to suggest that I, one of the nine-tailed fox species, to obey and serve under them in servitude. Especially that alpha wolf. He doesn’t think of me as a threat at all! I will make them recognize that as one of the strongest species in this world, I shall make them know their place! They shall know who is the stronger in the dog species!"
Nemaus spoke in a manner where I am not sure if he was addressing me, or just to himself. He began to release killing intent while a black aura slowly manifest itself from Nemaus’s body. His slightly grey fur slowly turned into a stronger shade of black. His eyes turning to a color of dark red. His one tail became 5….
Five tails? When did he have five tails? I didn’t remember him even showing even 3 tails. The last time I seen his number of tails was that time back in the Village of Furtp if I did remember correctly. Activating ‘Analyze’ on Nemaus to see his current abilities, a blue screen appeared in front of me and shows:
Nemaus
One of the nine-tailed fox species which was known for it's trickery, craftiness, and intelligence. It in takes magic power from partners they had formed pacts with ever since they were an infant. --Nemaus, currently five tail. He formed a parent and child pact with [Ridar Azzur].
Passive: Takes in the energy signature of its parent/companion and making it its own. Essentially being able to control the magic they had taken in for their use.
Passive: Permanently increased physical and magic ability by 20%
Death Passive: Become stronger when the user is getting closer to death(health).
Toggle Passive-Deathly Aura II (Ridar): Kills the living nearby. If resisted, stats are reduced(varies).
[Death]
Progress: 50%
Absorbing 1/2 of the true energy signature of Death, Nemaus have evolved into a rare-nine tailed fox species. Nether-Fox (Stage 2)
Skills: Cursed Fox-Fire Magic, Dark Lightning, Illusion Magic, Life-Force Absorption. Flight, Astral Form, Power Concealment
Unique Skill: Death Wave (Ridar) Power Augmentation(Dragon)
Oh ya, I almost forgot that incident where I killed those goblins and ogres on the other side of the mountain. He must have been able to progress his power when I massacred them.
Seems that he got a few new skills such as Flight, Astral Form, Power Concealment, and the Death Wave which has a chance of killing the surrounding targets instantly. The skill ‘Power Concealment’ allows to user to hide his true stats and abilities. He most likely used this to obviously hide his abilities from others. It is very useful to use as a surprise attack when the enemy underestimates him. The skill doesn’t affect me as my ‘Analyze’ is pretty much maxed out and unaffected by disguising abilities.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
As for ‘Astral Form’, it gives the user the ability to turn into a spirit which allows them to ignore physical damage. In spirit form you can avoid physical things such as passing through them or the object passes through me. Either way is the same. However in ‘Astral Form’ in return, you can’t use any physical means to do what you desire. Punching, kicking, holding, throwing, all those actions can’t be done while in that form.
In return for not being affected by the physical world, you can’t affect the physical world either. Magic would deal more damage when the user is in spirit form. It is because magic affects things both physical and spiritual. As for Nemaus other new gained spell such as flight which is easily understood already, Death Passive seems to be more of a berserk skill where the closer you are when you’re about to die, the stronger you get.
I also have a skill similar to that, but since I haven't really been near death ever since transported to this world, the skill doesn’t set off easily. He also seems to have gotten my ‘Deathly Aura’ skill.
Getting back to the topic, as the ‘Deathly Aura’ starts to come manifest from Nemaus, the beastmen stepped back as their sharp instincts finally told them that they are next to danger. The alpha leader became silent, either he is regretting his decision to insult Nemaus, or his pride is telling him that if he retreats, his pack would lose their respect for him as he made a mistake. As the alpha leader tried to weigh which is more important to him, Nemaus made his assault. He activates ‘Deathly Aura II’ and with ‘Death Wave’ simultaneously to increase to effectiveness of instant death.
The trees’ leaves began to turn yellow and fell off their branches. The insects under the dirt dies as the black wave made contact with them. The beastmen souls began to depart while coming into my soul orb as I casted ‘Soul Sealing Barrier’ to capture the souls and absorbed them. With Soul Sense, I determined that out of the 50 wolfmen that surrounded us, only 27 survived. Though they seemed to be breathing for air as they slump to the ground, heaving for life. The wolfman were weakened badly while Nemaus hadn’t finished his assault as he activated dark lightning which surrounded his body like armor.
He used ‘Flight’ as he charged towards the other wolves. Nemaus didn’t go for the leader since he wanted to save the alpha for last, he decided to cause psychological damage to the alpha by getting rid of the pack who respects him for his combat prowess while causing terror to build it in him.
------
The massacre ended in no longer than a minute. The wolfmen weren’t able to run in their weakened state, so they can only await death on their knees. The alpha leader decided to run as his pack were getting slain; however, he didn’t get far as Nemaus noticed this and breathe out ‘Cursed Fox-Fire’ at him, causing the fur which came on contact with the fire, burned in hot temperatures as he was weakened even further by the debuff effect of ‘Cursed Fox-Fire’. Nemaus levitated above the crouching alpha. The alpha whimpered and looked up at Nemaus, begging for mercy with his pleading eyes.
Nemaus not bothered in the slightest, used ‘Life-Force Absorption’ on the alpha. The alpha started to throw a tantrum, but in no time, he wasn’t able to resist the spell and his soul slowly departed from his body and transferred to my Soul Orb. Checking the gauge, it showed 100%. Just 50 beastmen were capable of giving 2% to the Soul Orb. It must be because of their strength and abilities. The 10,000+ goblins and ogres did give quite a lot to the gauge; however, it was because of their quantity. The beastmen is categorized in the quality section because of their abilities. Since my gauge is ready now, I capable of summoning my partner in Elareven.
While Nemaus was finally calming himself down from the offence he received, I activated my ‘Soul Orb.’ I guess it is finally time to explain the effects, but before that let’s explain how I got it. In Elareven, every job receives a companion when they reached a certain advancement in their jobs. They would then receive a quest which is part of their storyline for their respective jobs.
For example, a tamer when receiving their job advancement, gains a quest to be an a journey and coincidentally found a dragon egg. He or she would then raise the egg and when the dragon hatched, the baby dragon would see the tamer as his parent or master, which it would soon later become the tamers partner in battle after fulfilling some requirements such as taking proper care of the dragon by feeding it, and killing monsters to let the dragon grow in power.
There are other partners and companions such as having a kung-fu panda martial artists for a healer. Of course, players are allowed to pick the gender of their companions. Just like with the tamer and dragon, every companion have their own little story to make it more attracting.
For me who is a Necromancer, I obtained the Soul Orb which allows me to summon a fiend who is also known as an archdemon. Of course, I chose female. My quest is simple and a little harder than the others. I just have the kill and absorb a huge number of monsters to activate it to summon my destined partner. Though the downside is it would take a huge amount of time just to wait for the monsters to spawn after I killed them, and killing bosses could increase the progress, but they take even longer to spawn. So I didn’t really attempt to fulfill to necessary requirements.
Activating the Soul Orb, a red magic circle appeared in front of me. As the circle glows with deep red, the clouds in the light blue sky, begins to swirl around and around. The clouds turned dark as it covers the sunlight from reaching the world. In the center of the swirling clouds, a purple beam of light shot itself into the red magic circle. Nemaus jumped in surprise and ran behind me while giving me a suspicious look on his face. The ‘Soul Orb’ gauge begins to slowly decrease as the purple beam of light continues being in contact with the magic circle.
90%
76%
50%
As the percentage continues to decrease, a form started to manifest inside the magic circle. A humanoid form is forming itself inside circle. Slowly, it becomes clearer and clearer. The gauge finally hit the bottom 0%. The red magic circle slowly vanished and disappeared. In its place is an emerald-eyed young girl who looks about 15-years-old with purple hair that past her shoulders, wearing a one-piece that seems similar to that of a jester. The skirt slightly above the middle of her thighs. As if noticing that her surroundings changed, she observed her surroundings.Spotting me, she smiled to me while the beach ball she was sitting on bounced towards me.
“Hey Master Ridar! So you finally freed and summoned me! How’s it been?!” While she said happily while the ball was bouncing with her along with it.
Her name is Nylen, a field who is known as an archdemon. From what I was able to access in the information terminal, she is a really strong close combat fighter mainly using a sword, Byakko, which manifest a target’s fear in them causing the enemy to be paralyze, and can also use her unique magic to snipe of enemies from a distance, dealing damage huge amounts of damage. When I read her stats in the terminal, her strength, speed, and evasion stats were very high. She also doesn’t have any particular weaknesses to any elements such as light and earth. Using ‘Analyze’ on her, her character screen shows,
Nylen
Created by [Ridar Azzur] a few thousand years ago. Her master put a huge amount of effort to create her as a fiend with immense power. Her purpose was to aid him in anything he desires. Being together with her creator, they traveled together while getting stronger with each passage of time and soon she grew affection towards her master. However things would never be as they are. The various churches discovered that her master had summon a dangerous existence that could endanger the residents of the world. The churches believed that her master’s goal was to destroy the world rather than to discover and learn various magic. Especially since he started learning magic that could leave utter destruction if decided to use it on a whim, they ordered all the strongest holy knights to subjugate her master.
She and her master had no choice but to fight against the world. Soon, her master was slain while she was sealed in another dimension to make sure they won’t be able to bring harm towards the people. Being sealed, she always held onto the hope that her master would come back and would be able to free her so they may be together once again.
Fiend Passive: Ferocity V-Deals huge additional damage.
Fiend Passive: Prevail V- The lower health she has, her strength, defence, and evasion stats would tremendously increase
Passive: Strength, Speed, and Evasion stats are increased by 20%
Passive: No elemental weaknesses
Unique Passive: Resurrection(10% health and mana) as long as [Ridar Azzur] is alive. Can only be used once per day.
Skills: Darkness Manipulation, Fear Inducement, Distort Space,Flurry Attack, Explosive Barrage. Flight.
Reading her story and skills, I have to so that if she were to have a fight with me, Nylen would cause me headaches.
“Hey Master! Are you alright? Hey!” as Nylen said that, she brought herself closer to me. Her emerald eyes looked into me while her expression shows concern of me. Snapping myself back to reality, I replied
“I am fine Nylen.” I smiled. I am just thinking that even though she has her story setting and supposedly knows me well, I in return, don’t know what she is like. What can you expect, I just met her just now. She seems to be always excited so I guess fun-loving could be her personality trait?
“Ah~, could it be that you were enchanted with me~,” Nylen said with a seductive voice, while licking her soft lips with her hand on her cheek. Unfortunately or fortunately, I don’t have a sausage which could be erect and I don’t have any blood in my body so I couldn’t get turned on anyways.
“Sorry Nylen, but as you can see,” I turned off my Illusion Mimicry, showing my skull. “ I can’t feel anything towards you right now.” Trying to prove something to her that I don’t even feel slightly turned on, in fact my mind is a bit in chaos from her behavior. I never was popular with girls so her doing this made me a bit nervous.
“You don’t have to lie Master, I already know everything about you.” Nylen said with a cheerful smile, while I went total-retard trying to understand what did she meant by “everything”.As she said that Nemaus looked between Nylen and me while looking confused. In the end he somehow shrugged while on his 4 legs and jumped towards my shoulders and slowly closed his eyes as he dozed off even in the daytime. He doesn’t seem to be interested in who the girl is. At the same time, I was messaged by Akuezhor that he had found some information related to the slums.

Always glad for some input in the arcs guys
