[A Few minutes ago, Xavier’s POV]

Xavier found himself surrounded by the black smoke which caused him to freeze in his path, he growled but, was not able to move.

He tried to move but some power was holding him in his place.

“Xavi are you alright” he heard Arlan call him, and he too tried to talk to him but, he was not able to.

“Arlan, Arlan” Xavier tried calling him in mind.

“Arlan don’t come over, I don’t feel good about this place” he tried again but it looked like Arlan could not connect to him. (he panicked)

Soon the smoke disappeared.

Xavi saw Arlan coming near him and when Arlan shook his body to get his attention, Xavi’s body jolted and he felt like any wall had just broken around him. He felt like he had been freed from some cage.

“Haahh! thank God you are fine, you scared me as hell” he heard Arlan again but couldn’t reply to him. His mind was getting foggy like he had no control over his body. But seeing Arlan there with him gave him some relaxation.

“Let’s leave all this, we should head home fast. I don’t feel good here” Xavi listened to Arlan

Yes! he has to get home fast; all of this was giving him an eerie feeling. He ran towards home as fast as he could.

They reached directly into Xavi’s room.

Xavi saw Arlan getting into his human form, he tried to change too but….

Xavier panicked when he found that he couldn't turn back into his human form. He tried and tried but nothing worked. Xavier became restless.

“Arlan wait…..” when Xavi saw Arlan had stopped, he sighed and was relieved thinking at least he could link to him now.

[PRESENT]

Arlan: What!!! change fast or you will get scolded.

Xavi: Arlan I’m not able to shift into my human form.

Arlan: You are not what??? What do you mean??

His questions were irritating Xavi….

Xavi: I’m not able to shift in my human form. Something happened in the forest. I can’t exactly say what but, there’s something wrong with my body. (he sounded stressed)

Arlan: (His eye flew open in shock) Whaaattttt…??? Why didn’t you tell me before? We should have done something there. Maybe find someone around and could have caught them.

Xavi: I was not able to, I tried to talk to you but there was something wrong about that place.

Arlan: We should inform elders immediately.

Xavi: Yes, but before that send some people to search that area, immediately. Let’s go.

Both Arlan and Xavier entered the hall beautifully decorated with different ancient ornaments. Just by looking, you can say they were 100 years old and precious. The hallway is grand and looks like a palace from ancient times. It is beautifully lighted with the biggest chandelier anyone has ever seen. Just under the chandelier is a 16-seater dining table filled with various food items.

On the table, there were four elders seated, waiting for the alpha. The head of the elders, DONOVAN LANCOM Xavier’s grandfather was sitting at one end of the table, and on his right side was XANTHOS LANCOM Xavier’s father, on his left, was MARCUS LANCOM Xavier’s uncle (Arlan’s father), and beside him was one more middle age man WALDO YAMA who was the beta of his grandfather when he was the alpha. Among them, his grandfather holds much more power than others.

Elder Marcus (his uncle): Xavi why are you like this, you know it's breakfast time? Why aren’t you ready?

All others looked in his direction to get an answer as everyone had the same question.

Arlan: Dad, there’s some problem with Xavi, we don’t know what happened but…….

Arlan narrated everything that happened in the forest, worry was evident on his face.

All elders looked in their direction as If they were angry after listening to what Arlan said.

Elder Marcus was the first one to break the silence.

“What!!!! Can’t shift into his human form? How is this possible? More importantly, how could you both act so carelessly, being an alpha you should be able to protect yourself, and being his beta it was your responsibility too.” He growled in the hall which scared the servants around them.

Elder Donovan: Keep calm Marcus. Everyone in the meeting room, in 5 minutes.

(Grandfather growled and ordered in his authoritative tone which shows he was angry)

Everyone left quietly leaving Arlan and Xavier alone.

Arlan: what do you think, what should we do??

Xavier: What??? Do you think you can do anything right now, but follow them? Let’s not

think about how bad it can be. The Old man must be having some solution to this, I’m sure.

Arlan: Well with the way they all reacted it looks bad, at least to me. Come on now we can’t anger them anymore, then they are.

Both entered the meeting room which is on the 3rd floor. This time Xavier is not alone, both pixies are with him. They fought Xavi for not waking them up and taking them with him. (literally eating his ears, the whole hallway)

When they entered the room, everyone was quiet, like Pindrop silent.

Elder Donovan: Xavier, let’s straight come to the point, you have been spelled by the witches. Your body has been trapped and right at this moment, no one knows how we can break this spell. [he said while making eye contact with Xanthos (Xavi’s father), who looked more worried]

(This angered Xavi because he knew if there was any solution his grandfather must have known)

Cherry 1 and 2: This wouldn’t have happened if you had taken us along. (both said in unison)

Xavi: Oh really! I don’t think so. Stop irritating me or I’ll send you back from where you came from. (Xavi growled)

Among everyone, elder Donovan seems to know much more about witchcraft than the others.

Uncle Marcus: What are you saying, Dad? What will we tell everyone in the pack? How will we hide this news? If the news gets out, people can take advantage of this, especially our enemies.

He seemed pissed off right at this moment, he was growling, showing his anger.

Elder Xanthos (his father): Xavier is an alpha; he has to attend lots of meetings and also there is the ball in just a few weeks. How will the pack celebrate it, if the alpha of the pack wouldn’t attend it?? Everyone will question him.

Xavier stood behind his chair at the end of the big table, listening to everyone. His eyes were dark black showing he was fuming with anger at the situation.

After some time, Xavier growled in rage making everyone quiet.

Xavi: “I have thought through it, everything will be under control. Arlan will handle all the meetings on my behalf and everyone will be informed that I will be out of town for a few weeks and will be back before the ball. Till then we will find the solution to this problem.” (he declared in his cold and ruthless voice)

[ Pixie 1 & 2- You can’t go without us this time; we will go wherever you go. (they protested)]

Xavier shrugged and asked them to shut up. (they irritate him)]

Xavi: I want everyone to calm down and think about how to capture those witchcraft as soon as possible and get all the information about what they were doing on our land. Also, how did they enter the land, and how come no one knew about them?

Xavi: We never experienced any such things before, what if it’s someone’s dirty plan of letting us down by capturing me?

Xavi: Also, I have a few questions that I want to discuss with the elders.

Elder Donovan: Go on we are all here to help you, you are not alone in this.

Xavi: Where is my human form? Where can I find him?

Elder Donovan: According to my knowledge he is somewhere far away, a mere human can’t reach there, also it’s very difficult even for someone like you, who has powers. You have to find the witch that cast this spell on you. If they agree to free you by their will, it would be better if things can settle without causing anyone harm.

Xavi: But where can we find them? I have little to no knowledge about them.

Elder Donovan makes some movement with his hand in a circular motion and a book that looked like thousands of years old appeared on the table.

Elder Donovan: This is our ancient book. Have a look at it, it might help you with your doubts.

Xavi: Arlan! gather all our guards and trainees in the basement. I’ll be there in a minute

Arlan: Sure! (He took the book with him and headed back)

Everyone in the room listened to him as he gave order over order. His father and grandfather felt proud cause that’s how an alpha should act. He must not be frightened and should be prepared for the worst scenario.

After everyone left Xavi was left with his father and grandfather.

Xanthos: Xavier! we know you can handle it, but just be a little more cautious cause it’s not the human or any rouge this time. Witches are more different and can be dangerous. Since you haven’t come across any of them yet. We are here if you need our help anytime.

Xavier: I will, Father.
