Chapter 3

Huden - Bear’s cave w/ Bear (Sleeping)

Pain. That’s what Huden felt. He tried to move his left arm and figured that it had been dislocated. Sighing, he attempted to stand up, only to be hit by a wave of dizziness and nausea. ‘Third time today! WHY am I fainting so much?!?!?’ He thought to himself, sitting back down. Rubbing his temples, he glanced around. And that was when he noticed the sleeping bear. Oh, and the berries. Freezing in shock, he slowly grabbed one teensy tiny red berry and ate it, to see how the bear would react. Thankfully, the bear did not twitch, so he grabbed the rest of them and feasted on his new snack.

Sitting back down, he debated what to do next. He momentarily thought that the bear might be sentient, finally realizing that he was on a small pile of leaves, not the cold hard floor. He decided that his assumption was probably right, so he slowly, but surely, stood up and step after step approached the bear so as to not frighten it but try to communicate with it.

He slowly lowered his mouth to the bear’s ear and hurriedly whispered “Um… I have no clue how to ask this, but are you sentient?” Suddenly, the bear jumped up in what he assumed was fright, as he did the same as the bear. The bear glanced at him and growled, backing away as if Huden was to hurt it. He realized that the bear was scared of him, so he glanced around the cave-room to search for something to calm the bear. Noticing a small berry bush near the back of the cave, he slowly made his way towards it, all while keeping his eyes on the bear, hoping it did not chase him or anything of the sort.

Bear - Bear’s Cave w/ Huden

Bear, still cautious, watched the strange human back up and pick the ripest looking berry that was visible on the bush near the back of the cave. Growling, he suspected that the human might be stealing from him. ‘This is what I get for helping one of their kind, even when I was a human, I was like this.’ He thought. Cautiously watching the human, he made sure that it was not doing anything to it. But that turned out to be wrong, as the human extended their arm towards him and seemingly offered him the berries.

Wary, he sniffed the berries but detected no harmful substances, so he decided to eat the berries. That was when he realized what the human was doing. The human was trying to express his trust towards Bear! Still wary, he saw the little human look up towards him hopefully, as if saying ‘Don’t eat me please!’ It was strange, but yet it warmed Bear’s heart, convincing him to give it a gift. He walked over to a small dent in a tall piece of stone, where he had stored all of his little human trinkets over the years. Picking out a small gemstone bracelet, he picked it up in his jaws and brought it over to the human.

Dropping it onto the stone next to the human, he watched curiously as it picked the bracelet up, and stared at the shiny sapphire before quickly putting the bracelet on. Suddenly, the human glowed with a burst of power that slowly faded. But some of it did remain. And it made the human terrifying. It made the human glow with power. It made the human almighty.
