File 3.2: Xí’s Travel Journal ~ Day 1: I was always here...trust

When I saw the humans sprinting down the street with their weird ass auras I knew my day was about to get fun. Luckily for them the street wasn’t crowded because Lunch Break C.E. had started around 15 minutes before. I knocked down my chair as I rushed forward towards the door. Shoving myself through the long line of people waiting for their lattes and bacon-egg and cheese sandwiches which honestly are not even lunch time foods but I digress.

I flicked out my pole and I sprinted behind them to catch up. When I gained enough speed I used my pole to vault over the blocking crowd rush. I may or may not have screamed very very very manly while doing so. Dissipating my pole before it knocked out some very nice looking bystanders would have probably been the smart move but as you can probably tell, smart moves just ain't my style. Apparently, it wasn’t the humans’ style either as I went unnoticed when I joined the pace of their group as they sped down the street. After a grueling 4 minutes of straight running the human with the paint aura pointed towards one of the many backstreets of Oplus City and shouted “THERE!!”. The group converged on themselves practically leaping into the dimly lit alley. The police just missed them and kept scouring the main street barreling right past them.

All the humans gathered into a mesh of a group huddle. “Okay guys, do we have a game plan because we are kind of fucked…” Paint aura huffed out another shaky breath. I clapped my hands together, breaking the sounds of panting. “Well, that was thrilling wasn’t it?!” They all turned their heads towards me and shouted “NO!” With that most shifted away, breaking off to lean against the walls of the cramped space they shared. “Wait a second..who are you?” Red lights swirled around this human as they lowered their…camera? Damn how far behind is their society. Shaking off my shock, I extended my hand with a dramatic bow. “It is I, fucker of governments, disappointment of the Qui-lu clan, follower of all fun and all dandy. But you can just call me Xí Qui-lu.”

“Oooookayyy did not think it could get weirder than the talking crocodile but here we are. Brushing past psycho aliens with weird comments, introductions are a good idea. I’m Teagan Walker, nice to meet all y’all.” Teagan, formerly known as ‘Paint aura’, put her hand out to shake hands but I tilted it and placed my hand on top before flashing a grin more akin to a Cheshire cat’s. “I’m Adam! And sa-same here- here!! It’s really nice to meet all of you!” No amount of exclamation points could express the excitement in his voice despite his stutter. Frustration flickered across but disappeared as quickly as it came. His happiness was infectious as he placed his hand on top of mine. “Junpei.” was all a human said as an introduction. He kicked off the wall and joined their stack placing a heavily ringed hand on top of theirs. “I’m Austin, it's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance.” I gave him a once over. His dusty blond hair and fancy clothes didn’t match his aura of ancient drama masks and pyrite smile. The other humans didn’t seem to notice and I made a mental note to speak to their superiors about severely lowering the ‘known level’ of intelligence for their world. I have dealt with enough liars to know one, even at first meeting. He most notably, didn’t put his hand in the pile and slipped them into his pockets despite joining the circle we stood in. I broke my gaze away from the lying boy to a tall black girl clicking her heels as she stood up. “Charity Chery.” She placed her hand on the others, her eyes flicking around the others. Her glare was a challenge and a test at once. “I’m Xiao-Hua…” A small voice spoke out before placing her hand on top of the growing pile. Charity practically towered over her as she made room for the camera wielding midget. “Great! Now that our intros are done we have a new dilemma on our hands.” Grinning again, I clasped my hands together, checking over the side of the wall and into the now clearing street. We were about 3 blocks from my complex but there was still police crawling the streets.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

”Soooo a couple teeny weeny problems,” I turned back to the group, a grim expression making its way up my face. “The police are still crawling the streets and Lunch Break C.E. is about to end so people will be crowding the streets-”

“Wouldn’t that be good for us because it’ll give us cover?” Charity cut in.

“If it was one or two people trying to hide from the police, yes but if it's a group that wants to stick together we’re pretty screwed.” Teagan replied, flicking her eyes to meet mine. “What if we split up, one group creates a distraction, the other goes then you loop back around to meet the first group here?”

I bit my lip, “It’d be tight but that could work. What if I gave you the directions to my apartment as I take the second group and meet you there? It creates less risk, I may or may not already have my face known by many police officers.”

“Aight, I’ll be in group one. Anyone else?” Teagan slid a skateboard out of who knows where before snapping on their wrist protectors.”I’ll go, I’m also experienced in out running law enforcement.” Junpei stood up a little taller as he shifted towards Teagan skateboard already in hand but with noticeably less protection gear. “Sick dude.” Teagan muttered, bumping her and Junpei’s forearms together. “Welp now that's said,” I tossed my phone towards the two skaters. “Good luck and have fun.”

“Always do, chaooooo.” Teagan raised two fingers to their temple and saluted. On Teagan’s signal the two of them ran into the street, skating past some nearby officers taunting them to follow.
