129. Tiffany's Definition Of Battle

129. Tiffany's Definition Of Battle

Luke: Think fast!

A massve boulder came hurtling towards Ken, which he dodged incredibly easily.

But Luke didn't stop at one. In fact, he continued to throw boulder after boulder, keeping Ken on his toes, as he dodged them one after the other fairly easily.

Tiffany: Have you noticed it, Max?

Max: Huh?

Tiffany: Take a look at Luke.

Max accordingly turned back to look at him.

It wasn't the most noticeable thing, but with every boulder thrown, Luke took a few steps closer to Ken.

Max: Wait..... he's....

Tiffany: That's right. Classic misdirection.

It all came to him almost immediately.

With every boulder he threw, Luke got closer to Ken.

Max: Woah....

Tiffany: And it doesn't end there. Look at the boulders he's thrown at Ken.

He accordingly turned to look at them.

The boulders seemingly landed in random positions.

Ken was starting to sweat, trying to dodge them all.

Tiffany: It may not look it, but he's using the boulders to wear him down, and also, with all those boulder shards on the ground...

Max: It will be harder to get out of there once he finally gets to him.

Tiffany: Hmph. That's right...

And it happened exactly as Tiffany said. Luke slowly but surely got close enough to Ken to take him down once again.

Max: (thinking: What's gonna happen this time?)

Luke prepared to strike the ground again, but to his surprise, Ken unleashed a blast of frost breath at the last moment, blinding Luke as he escaped.

Max: No way! (thinking: Way to go, Ken.)

Tiffany: Of course, ...

Max: Huh?

Tiffany: .... Ken had also noticed what Luke was doing.

Max: He did.

Tiffany: Hmph. That, Max.... is battle.

Max: Battle?

Tiffany: In a fight, both sides look for every eventuality to win. And in this case....

Ken turned to fire his laser at Luke's back, but Luke turned at the last second to block the lasers.

Tiffany: Enough!

Both Luke and Ken paused and, immediately, bowed.

Tiffany: I declare this match... to Ken!

A massive breath escaped Ken as his hands fell to his knees.

Ken: Phew....

Luke: Good job.

Ken: (panting) Yeah....

The pair walked back to the others.

Rose: You guys did great!

Tiffany: And that, Max, is how sparring works.

Max: Yeah, I get it.

He couldn't help but feel even more excited. He was about to fight someone. Now the question was, who?

Ken grabbed a smoothie he'd carried in a backpack, and Luke took abottle of water.

Max: Ok then!

His sudden expression made all the others turn to him in surprise.

Max: Who do I get to fight?

Tiffany: That... will have to wait.

Max: Wha...?!

Ken, Luke, and Rose all looked at each other knowingly with a smile.

Max: But why not!? You brought me all the way here!

Tiffany: No, you will be sparring.... just not quite yet.

Max: But....

Tiffany: Luke? You up for another round?

Luke: Yeah...

He immediately crushed his water bottle in his hands.

Tiffany: Good. You're with Rose on the next one.

Max: Huh? But....

Tiffany: Ken? You're officiating that match.

Ken: Of course, your Excellency.

Max: But... hey! Stop ignoring me!

Tiffany: Max...

Max: Huh?

Tiffany: You're with me.

Of all the words he'd anticipated Tiffany saying that day, that was the last of them.

Max: With.... you....

Ken walked up to him and patted him on the back.

Ken: You'll be fine... Trust me...

Luke: Yeah.....

He got up and stretched himself a bit.

Rose: Don't worry, Max. You'll be fine. Tiff's just gonna talk to you.

Max: Talk to me?

Talk to him? The statement in and of itself sounded crazy. After all, he believed that Tiffany was going to spar with him, after all.

Ken: Yeah, talk to you. Good luck.

Max: Good luck? Wait, but you just said...

Tiffany: (sighs) Don't worry about it. Come on, let's go.

Max: Go? Where?

Tiffany: Somewhere private.

And, as a result, Tiffany and Max walked off into the distance.

Luke: Anyway, ...

He got into battle position.

Luke: ... you ready, Rose?

Rose: Uh huh! Are you ok?

Luke: Yeah, I'm good. I'm good.
