Chapter 52 A Skirmish and Kidnapping

Alright, so, the Goblins were fighting almost equally with the soldiers, Adventurers, and the Players. However, no one stopped the Golems. Well, they were busy destroying the buildings behind the Goblins, so, naturally, no one would stop them. That meant, only I had the ability to stop them.

...on second thought, I didn't have any ability to stop them. After all, I was just a Slime, a Smokeless Slime! It would be weird if I could stop the Golems with only me, right?

I took a glance at the battle again. It seemed, although the Goblins numbers were overwhelming, the quality of the humans was far better. Even the soldiers were stronger than the Goblins, and if they were not careless, they wouldn’t die easily.

“Kid, you are not bad!” The Guild Master praised Zero when they were close. Zero just killed another Goblin while weaving close to the Goblin behind it. He moved fluidly, and just like the wind, whenever a slash came to him, he wouldn’t be touched at all. It was definitely not an in-game Skill, but rather, he was really skillful. In the past, he couldn’t do that as smooth as right now, so he must have more experience now.

“Thank you, but I’m still not as strong as you guys.” Zero humbly replied. He dodged a Goblin Warrior’s sword and stabbed quickly. His sword was almost similar to katana, unlike the typical sword that the other used. So, it could be used to slash and stab.

“Gahaha! Did you hear that, Galahad? Well, kid, if you keep on training, you will be stronger than the two of us combined easily!” The Guild Master slashed four Goblin Warriors easily. Galahad, the ex-Adventurer Cook, harrumphed when he heard it. He also slashed five Goblins around him easily.

“Kid, you help that side. Go!” The Guild Master ordered when he saw two sides were overwhelmed by the Goblins. There were no particularly strong humans in those two sides, so they were losing. The Guild Master moved to cover one side, and Zero moved to cover the other side.

“[Waning Moon]” Zero unleashed his Skill. His body became slightly invisible as he moved quickly. Looking from my point of view, it was as if Zero teleported to a Goblin side. He backstabbed a Goblin Warrior, pulled his sword, and rotated to kill the one who tried to backstab him. His body waned again, and suddenly he moved three meters away and killed a Goblin Mage. His movement was too fast for the Goblins to follow, so he could kill them easily.

Speaking of which, I didn't believe that his Skill came from the Basic Class. The Basic Class of Warrior was, well, the Skills it provided were more on the side of strengthening the body. In other words, most of them were passive Skills. For example, increasing the strength, defense, or speed by a few percents. As for the Active Skills, I only remembered something like [Shield Bash] or [One-Point Strike]. So, without a doubt, [Waning Moon] should be a Skill from an Advanced Class.

Speaking of Advanced Class, besides the level, a Trainer was needed to advance to the Advanced Class. That was a problem for me because a Witch was quite... well, let's just say that they were rare in this Empire. No, in this World, maybe. I didn't know, I was a shut-in and besides the Beast-kins in the village near my Dungeon and fellow Dungeon Master, I didn't know a lot of people. So, even when I fulfill the requirements to advance to the next Class, I didn't know where to advance. It was really... saddening.

Anyway, let's return to the battle.

While Zero was killing left and right swiftly, the silly Goddess's side fought carefully. Donald, the dependable Tank they had, was logged out, so they could only depend on themselves. The silent God silently blocked an arrow aiming to the silly Goddess, while the silly Goddess froze the Goblins around them. She also built several [Ice Wall] to protect their sides, so they could focus on the Goblins in front of them.

“They are easy to kill, but their number is too much!” The silly Goddess complained. The silent God nodded and looked around. There were still a thousand of Goblins. Killing ten of them was easy, but after a hundred, fatigue caught up to them, and well, that was probably the end for them once they were tired.

The other Players were trying their best to fight, and none of them died at the moment. Though most of them were injured, the Healers worked hard, so none of them died yet. They weren’t pushed back, yet they weren’t able to push back either.

“We should use a big Spell to kill most of them.” The silly Goddess said. That was true, however, an army of Goblins like this was capable of protecting themselves from a big Spell as well. I could see the Goblin Mages were standing behind the army, preparing to counter any Spells conjured by the humans that could potentially damage their army.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

However, it didn’t mean that humans didn’t do the same. I could see the reserved soldiers behind the army and there were also Mages prepared to protect their comrades in case the Goblins tried to conjure big Spell. Both armies were prepared for the worst, it seemed.

“There’s a breach in point C!” One of the soldiers shouted. Point C was located in the west. And the soldiers there were pushed back by the Goblins. They didn’t have enough people to hold the Goblins back.

“I’ll go there!” Zero shouted. “[Super Speed]!”

There was a blur before Zero abruptly appeared in Point C. [Super Speed] was a skill to increase the user speed stats by fifty percent. Well, that was when that Skill was trained to the max. However, Zero was already fast, so, even ten percent of his speed was quite a lot. If the others were people walking casually, perhaps Zero was a racing F1 car. In other words, he was tens or even hundreds of times faster than the others!

“Hold your line! Hold your line! We can’t let the Goblins defeat us!” The Commander shouted. He was riding a horse and watched the battle unfold in front of him. Sometimes, he glanced at my direction, but perhaps he didn’t sense any hostility from me so he let me go. Honestly, that Commandeer was as scary, or even scarier than the Guild Master and the cook. He had a domineering aura that made me tremble a little. I believed he was not bad in a fight as well, though, at this moment, his face was extremely solemn.

Well, I was not a genius, but I knew a thing or two about war. Or a battle. At the moment, if the humans didn’t have the elite fighters like the Guild Master, the Cook, Zero, or the silly Goddess, they would definitely lose a battle with the same number of the soldiers. Speaking of the silly Goddess, she should be stronger than Zero. She was a Goddess after all, so it was natural that she should be stronger than a normal human like Zero. But at this moment, fighting Goblins, she fought quite reservedly, and rather than trying to kill more Goblins, it seemed she was trying to protect herself more. Perhaps the traumatic experience of being captured by the Goblins left a physiological trauma in her heart? Just like I couldn’t stand the open sky.

Let’s go back to what the Commander thought at the moment. So, the humans won at the highest quality of the soldiers but lost the average quality of the soldiers. If it were not for their equipment, perhaps a soldier wouldn’t be able to kill the Goblins, well, the Goblin Soldiers as easy as they did now. So, it proved that the Goblins had better warriors though poorer equipment, while humans had better equipment but lacked training. Or lacked experience.

Wait a minute. The quality of the Goblins was below the humans, that was true, but that was only the lower-ranked Goblins. The Hobgoblins should be as strong as the silly Goddess or even stronger than her by a little. Though they were not as overpowered as the two monsters in human skin, they should be strong enough to stop those two if they had thrice the numbers of those two.

However, I didn’t see them at all. None of the Hobgoblins were participating in this fight. Why? Were they protecting the Goblin General?

No, they were not. I believed they were not protecting the Goblin General. At least, not all of them. So, what were they aiming for?

I was not a Strategist, but I knew one thing for sure. To cripple an army, it would be easiest to attack the supply line. Without any supply, we would all die of starvation. So, they probably were looking for food storage. Maybe they wanted to burn the food storage or poisoned the food, either way, that would definitely cripple us. I should stop them, but even I didn’t know where we put our food. No, perhaps, some of them were stored in the Adventure Guild.

I ordered the Smokeless Slime to move back to the Adventure Guild, but somehow, the Goblins noticed me first. I could sense one of them was ambushing me, so I stopped moving and dodged the initial attack of the Goblins.

It was a Hobgoblin. No, two Hobgoblins. I wasn’t sure whether I was strong enough to kill them and protect the food or not, but I shouldn’t give up easily here. Well, the Smokeless Slime was not suitable for fighting, so I should try to escape first.

I shrunk my body and prepared to move at high speed. The Hobgoblin in the front gestured to the one behind him before he dashed forward with a speed that could be compared to my top speed.

They were really troublesome.

I dodged, but because I was surprised, I couldn’t control my body instantly. I crashed into a wall of a house, and that was when the other Hobgoblin attacked me. Seriously, escaping was also not possible, it seemed. I forced my body to dodge again, but again, the other Hobgoblin was prepared to attack me. It took my all just to avoid them, so it was impossible for me to do anything more than that, huh?

When I couldn’t move, the Hobgoblin attacked me. I raised one of my tentacles. It was impossible to block a dagger with my tentacle, so I usually parried them. When I fought the Players in the Newbie Village, I always parried their blades, not blocked them. However, that was possible only because I was faster than them. Now, with the enemy as fast as I was, blocking was the only thing my tentacles could do.

The Hobgoblin slashed one tentacle, but his dagger slowed down significantly, giving me some time to dodge again. I was saved this time, but again, the other Hobgoblin was already attacking me again. If I were a human, I meant, if I used the human body, I would be out of breath already, dodging frantically like this. Also, I tried to jump to a roof, but the Hobgoblins could follow me just fine. I couldn’t shake them off!

When I was busy fighting or more accurately speaking trying to fight with the two Hobgoblins, suddenly, I felt my danger sense tingling. There was a danger coming straight to my main body, not this Smokeless Slime’s body. And because of that, the Hobgoblin managed to slice the Smokeless Slime body and I abruptly opened my eyes, feeling the pain on my chest.

And then I saw it. The stars. And also, the moon in the corner of my eyes. They were beautiful. Yeah, the moon was beautiful. And that meant, I was not inside my room anymore. No, I was still lying on my bed, but the room, the inn was destroyed. So, I could see the sky. And that was bad. I tried to move, but my body wouldn’t cooperate at all. I wasn’t prepared for this, so my body couldn’t even move when it noticed that I was not inside a room anymore.

And in the corner of my eyes, I saw several Hobgoblins in my room and a Golem standing outside of the inn. The Golem must have destroyed the inn and the Hobgoblins were... they were here to kidnap me, weren’t they? I hated ending up as their... tools for reproduction, but I couldn’t even let out any voice before the Goblins roughly tied my hands behind my back, covered my mouth with a cloth and they brought me outside carefully. They didn’t even cover my eyes and the way they brought me, it seemed they intentionally letting me face the sky.

No... I don’t want to... somebody... Zero, you have to save me before I...
