Discussion

Once the adults left the room, Dr.Scott pulled Matt and Lisa to the side. He sighed before he began speaking.

"Almost all rabies patients fall into comas, and they rarely come out of it." Theo's parents nodded their heads in understanding.

"I think I already know the answer to this question but, if or when Theo falls into a coma and flat lines, would you want him to be resuscitated?" Theo's parents looked at each other and Matt spoke first,

"We would. If our son does fall into a coma, we're going to give him every chance he has at coming back."

Dr.Scott nodded and patted Matt's arm before walking away. Lisa looked in the door window and saw her sleeping son, and turned to her husband.

"Let's go for a walk." Her husband nodded, and they joined hands and began walking.

"Are you sure resuscitating him would be the best idea?" Lisa asked sadly.

Matt sighed. "I'm not sure, to be honest. If we don't then, we lose him forever but if we do we don't know if he'll have a brain injury after all he's been through. Even if he has a brain injury, we'll survive. He's a strong kid."

Lisa nodded and gave a sly smile. The two decided to turn back to take care of their son. As soon as the elevator door opened on their floor, they heard ear-piercing screams that could only belong to their son.
