4. From Bad to Worse

“Hey asshole, I said I wanted to ‘borrow’ $80 from you.” One of the lackeys of Se Won told another student.

There were three lackeys that surrounded the student who was sitting on a chair. Se Won was watching them while sitting on a table.

“I-I am sorry. I do not have money b-because I a-already gave you guys most of the money.” The student that was being bullied replied.

The lackey that asked to borrow money from him punched the head of the student.

“Ouch!” The student shouted out in pain.

“Tae Ho, don’t hit Seon Bin on the head.” Se Won ordered Tae Ho, the lackey.

“But-” Tae Ho attempted to reply to Se Won. The student felt a small glimmer of hope.

“Seon Bin can’t feel pain properly when his head gets hit too hard.” Se Won grinned with a sense of malice. Seon Bin’s face was filled with horror.

While Se Won and his lackeys bullied the student, Lee Hyun observed the whole fiasco.

‘What the fuck is his problem?’ He thought to himself. ‘Is Se Won a frugal guy who does not want to generously lend some money to his lackeys?’

However, he crossed out that possibility when he noticed that the lackeys had several expensive equipment and weapons. He assumed that Se Won probably gave them to receive their loyalty.

Although Lee Hyun did not like to work under another person, he still understood why those lackeys became obedient to Se Won. Lee Hyun did a lot more dangerous and risky things to obtain money.

He wondered why lackeys wanted to extort money from Seon Bin, and figured out the reason by pondering upon his past.

The answer was that there was no rational reason. The lackey abused the student simply because he wanted to.

One of Lee Hyun's hobbies was watching movies, especially Westerns. Thus, Lee Hyun also liked to read and listen to critiques of various movies that he watched. Sometimes, these critiques often involved criticisms of how villains of those movies did not have any coherent motivation. He scoffed at those critiques because his experiences contradicted them.

Whenever he worked as a bounty hunter, he observed the motives of many criminals that committed heinous crimes.

Some of them did not have any kind of rational motives. They simply committed malicious actions because they wanted to.” He thought to himself while reminiscing about criminals that he interacted with.

They committed those crimes even when they did not have anything to gain from. He concluded that it was natural for some people to commit evil deeds without any kind of reason.

He was reminded of a criminal that he sincerely despised.

Lee Hyun grabbed the grip of the revolver and cocked the hammer.

“Hey! Stop that immediately!” Ji Hyuk shouted to Se Won and the lackeys. They turned their heads and looked at Ji Hyuk.

“Stop? Can’t you see that my friend is trying to receive financial help from another student?” Se Won told Ji Hyuk in a nonchalant voice.

Lee Hyun placed the revolver in his holster again and continued to watch the situation. The situation had became more complex for him.

“Bullshit! You are trying to extort money from him!” Ji Hyuk shouted to Se Won.

“So what? Aren’t you a pathetic weakling that got immediately defeated by a gunslinger? You know that defeating you is as easy as twisting a child’s arm!” Tae Ho shouted to Ji Hyuk.

“If you touch him, then I will slice your entire body!” Taylor Harris yelled to Tae Ho.

‘So, that’s the girl that Sarah talked about.’ He looked at Taylor. Her red hair was flailing around on her back while she was walking toward Ji Hyuk.

‘Can this situation become even worse?’ Lee Hyun thought to himself.

Suddenly, he felt that the temperature of the classroom was quickly dropping again.
