2. Duel

In the training room, Ji Hyuk and Lee Hyun looked at each other.

They wore safety collars, which placed an invisible barrier on their bodies. When it buzzed, it meant that a person wearing the collar received enough damage that could have killed him.

In Korea, there is an idiom which states that it is always fun to watch people fighting each other and fire breaking out. At least this idiom was true for students at the academy, since there were plenty of students who came to the training room to watch the fight.

“You should be grateful that you are wearing that collar because you will be dead without it!” Ji Hyuk provoked him. They were standing in the duel zone, which was an area meant for students to fight each other.

Lee Hyun did not respond to him. He checked the cylinder of the revolver to make sure that there were six bullets in it.

They stared at their opponents menacingly.

“3, 2, 1, start!” The student who acted as a referee shouted loudly.

While Ji Hyuk grabbed the sword, Lee Hyun quickly drew his revolver from his holster and shot it. The sound of a bullet echoed throughout the training room. The flash of the light appeared on the invisible barrier that wrapped the body of Ji Hyuk. It meant that the barrier prevented Ji Hyuk from having a hole on his head.

A sound of a bullet echoed throughout the entire room. After that, a loud buzzing sound came out from the collar of Ji Hyuk, which meant that the owner of the collar lost the battle.

The battle between the two students ended almost instantly. Lee Hyun spinned his revolver in his hand and placed it back into the holster.

The audience that was watching the fight was shocked and confused.

“H-how did that happen? It ended before Ji Hyuk could draw his sword!” Ji Yung exclaimed in a shock.

“What a pathetic guy, losing before even drawing his own sword.” Park Se Won, who carried a crossbow on his back, sneered toward Ji Hyuk.

‘He spinned the revolver after the duel ended. That’s pretty cool.’ Sarah thought to herself.

While there were loud murmurs among the audience, Lee Hyun adjusted his cowboy hat and quietly exited the training room.

Both Lee Hyun and Sarah were sitting on chairs in a small room. They were receiving detention by the academy for behaving inappropriately in the classroom. Sarah was punished for freezing a bunch of students. Lee Hyun was punished for pointing a revolver at a student.

Although Ji Hyuck also received a detention, he was separated from Lee Hyun because the authorities did not want them fighting each other.

An awkward atmosphere filled the room.

“Why did you try to freeze people in the classroom?” Lee Hyun asked Sarah because he was curious.

“It's not like I froze them because I wanted to, you fucking pervert.” Sarah gave a dirty look to him. Her eyes were Lee Hyun frowned back as he heard her husky voice.

She sighed and stated that “Whenever I feel strong emotions such as anger, sometimes my body automatically uses my special ability even when I do not intend it.”

Lee Hyun listened to her closely.

“I was trying to read a book, but some morons distracted me by fighting in the classroom. At first, I tried to ignore it, but then I got pissed off since I was reading an important part of the novel.” Sarah told him in a frustrated tone.

“Well, if I freeze to death, at least I can die in peace knowing that you did not intend it.” Lee Hyun told her sarcastically.

“If you freeze to death by me, I would have 100% intended it.” Sarah told him in a half-serious tone.

There was an awkward silence between them again until Sarah broke it.

“Is it true that you are a pervert that intentionally looked at Ji Hye’s naked body?”

“Well, it's a long story.”

He explained the event from his own point of view.

“It’s fascinating how a silly misunderstanding that could have been solved in a few words caused a duel with weapons.” Sarah was amused by the explanation that came from Lee Hyun.

“Maybe giving murder weapons such as swords and guns to teenagers who are not fully matured and filled with hormones is a bad idea.” Lee Hyun said in a sardonic voice.

“You are a teenager who is carrying a gun.”

“You are right, Sarah. But I have to carry it to make sure that I am the one who shoots, not the one who gets shot.”

“Going back to the event, it seems like you are not lying at least, although I would have to hear from both sides to get a full picture. I dealt with many liars before and you don’t speak like a liar.” Sarah seemed to be confident in her assumption.

“So according to you, I am not a pervert anymore?”

“No, because all teenage boys are perverts.” Sarah said in a teasing tone while grinning.

A teacher walked in the room and said that “The detention is over.”

“I have something to ask before I leave.” Sarah told him.

“What is it?”

“Can you tell me your name?”

“Jung Lee Hyun, that is my name. What about yours?”

“Just call me Sarah.”

They left the room and went back to their dormitories.
