3. A Ranged Weapon Training Class

3. A Ranged Weapon Training Class

In the training range, there were students who were using weapons such as bows, guns, and spears to hit the targets. They were standing far away from targets while standing next to each other. On top of targets, there were scoreboards that showed accumulated points of targets.

The students were in a class for training future hunters who will use ranged weapons to hit monsters. “Weapon Training Class-Ranged Weapons” was the name of the class.

“Ready!” A teacher shouted across the training range. Students started to prepare in various ways. Some students reloaded their guns. Other students grabbed their spears. For Park Se Won, he placed an arrow on the string of the bow.

“Aim!”

Park Se Won pulled the string of the bow toward him. He breathed calmly and his eyes were focused on the target.

“Shoot!”

He released the string of the arrow. The bow flew through the training range and hit the target.

A scoreboard showed that 9 points were added to the overall score of Se Won.

For Se Won, it was not good enough for him because 10 points was the highest score that he could obtain.

He usually obtained 8, 9, 10 points by shooting arrows to a target. Many people in the training range would have considered those points to be good enough.

However, good enough was not enough for Se Won. He wanted perfection. He wanted to be the best. He wanted to reach the apex.

For Park Se Won, he needed to be better than everyone else in the area of sharpshooting since he was constantly reminded by his father to become the best.

Unfortunately for him, he was not able to achieve his goal.

He looked at the person that was next to him. The person was wearing a gray cowboy hat and a black poncho over his white academy uniform.

Se Won thought that Lee Hyun was just a weird guy that pretends to be a cowboy in the Wild West despite being a Korean man in the modern era.

However, his assessment about him drastically changed when he witnessed the duel between Lee Hyun and Ji Hyuk.

Lee Hyun defeated him before he was even able to draw the sword. This meant that not only Lee Hyun was merely dressed up as a cowboy, he also had gunfighting skills that were once possessed by outlaws of the American Old West.

Se Won looked at the scoreboards. He was angry at the fact that Lee Hyun obtained more points than he did.

‘I will do anything to reach the top.’ He thought to himself.

“Ready!” The teacher yelled at students.

“Hey, it’s nice that you obtained high scores.” Se Won told Lee Hyun in a scornful voice while putting his arrow on the bow. Lee Hyun responded by giving him a side-eye when he was reloading his revolver.

“Aim!”

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

“Shame that you solely rely on a weapon that requires no skill at all.” Se Won said in an opprobrium tone. Of course, Se Won knew that Lee Hyun had practiced hard to become a sharpshooter. He recognized the fact that people had to practice a lot to obtain good results from a target practice.

“Shoot!”

Se Won fired the arrow to the target. 10 points were added to the scoreboard. Until now, Lee Hyun had obtained only 10 points from shooting. However, his perfect streak ended after Se Won insulted him. Lee Hyun received 8 points because he was distracted by Se Won’s insults.

‘It is natural for a person who dresses up like a cowboy to have an attachment toward a revolver.’ Se Won mused about Lee Hyun’s fashion sense.

Se Won smiled because his plan worked. He intended to distract Lee Hyun from focusing on the target.

“Focus on your own target if you don’t want me to shoot your head instead of my target.” Lee Hyun retorted back to Se Won.

“How can I focus on shooting, when there is a stupid schmuck who relies on a tool to take my rightful place as a top sharpshooter?” Se Won taunted Lee Hyun.

“It seems like to me that the only place that is right for you is 6 feet under the ground.” Lee Hyun responded to Se Won.

“Watch your mouth, you little brat. Do you know what kind of family I come from?”

“No, but I know that you did not receive any love from your family.” Lee Hyun replied to Se Won in a mocking tone.

“You bastard!” Se Won shouted to Lee Hyun. He was greatly angered by Lee Hyun’s comment.

The arguments ended when they had to shoot targets again. This time, Se Won received only 5 points, while Lee Hyun received 10 points again.

“Hey, what's wrong? You seem to be really pissed off more than average this time.” Sarah asked Lee Hyun, who was frowning.

Lee Hyun briefly explained what happened between him and Se Won.

“...and I told him that he seems to be a person who did not receive any love from family.” Lee Hyun told Sarah, who was listening to his story about what happened during the target practice.

After Sarah heard the story, Sarah scowled.

“You have a beef with him as well?” Lee Hyun asked her.

“Not really, it just reminded me of my own family.” Sarah lowered her voice so only Lee Hyun could hear it.

“What?” Lee Hyun questioned.

“Um, it's nothing. It means that me and Se Won are both descended from parents who have high positions in big guilds.” Sarah talked faster than usual.

Lee Hyun suspected that Sarah meant more than having superficial similarities. However, he did not dare to inquire more. After all, everyone had secrets that they had to hide, including himself.

“You got into another argument with another asshole student after you immediately wrapped up your fight with that sword guy?” Sarah told him.

“I don’t think the fight between me and that sword guy ended. I saw him training fiercely in the training range with his friends.” Lee Hyun observed Ji Hyuk carefully while he was in a training range afterschool.

“You shouldn’t care about him too much, a rat will never defeat a lion no matter how hard the rat trains.”

“I am not dealing with an animal, but a human. He is weak, but he will not stay weak if he continues to train more.” Lee Hyun contemplated his own past while he thought about Ji Hyuk.

“Although you shouldn’t worry about him too much, be careful about his friends. I saw him walking with Taylor Harris, who is a fucking bitch. Elle prend la tête.” Sarah clenched her fist.

“What does that mean?” Lee Hyun did not understand the last sentence she said.

“Excuse my French, Lee Hyun. It means that she is an irritating person. I do not want to think about her again because I feel like I will freeze the entire classroom if I do.” Sarah clenched her fist while she talked in her husky voice.

“I won’t talk about her again.”

“By the way, I have a request. Next time you fight against the sword guy, I hope you fuck her shit up as well.”

“We’ll see about that.” Lee Hyun responded in a dubious way.
