Chapter 2, Part 4

Alice rephrased her request: "Ehem. Let me ask you again, Laya, would you care to join me in delivering these ingredients back to my master?"

Laya was surprised by the sudden window, as it broke her immersion in the game. She was happy, though, that she received a quest because now she knows what to do and she doesn't need to wander aimlessly trying to figure out how to play this game.

Laya stared at the glimmering eyes of Alice.

She thought to herself, ‘I don't know what kind of gameplay the devs of this game want, but so far I'm liking it, strangely enough. I should apologize to Emma after this, though. I bet she wouldn't stop bugging me with a smug face about how she "told me so". That cheeky lazy bum’.

Alice responded in panic from the gaze: "Um, only if you want to; that is, I won't force you or anything; I just want to know you better. I'll stop talking now."

"Alright, I'll join you, Alice," Laya responded.

Alice smiled brightly at Laya's answer, and then notifications appeared.

[You accepted 'Alice's Curiosity' quest!]

[Your affinity with 'Alice' increased!]

[ You now have a 'Friendly' relationship with 'Alice Braumer'!]

The two stood up and started their journey towards Alice's master.

Currently Alice and Laya stood in some park area of the city that was shaped like an oval plaza, where there are vendors surrounding the outside and forming a ring of markets that were selling varying types of goods.

Alice led the way out of this plaza, and they now tread the side roads. The roads of the city were mostly straight, making the buildings on the horizon visible. The infrastructure was decent, to say the least. It looked under maintenance, but being so, it gave a strange sense of nostalgia or a weird sense of belonging.

The quest didn't have any difficulty, they just walked along busy and sometimes quiet roads, and have talks relating to the city. Alice pointed out some stores and facilities of the city that were useful for everyday life but nothing major that could spell something interesting while asking personal questions about Laya herself. It was more of a guide of the city by an old distant friend than an actual quest.

When the sun began to fall and the darkness began to rise to cover the faintly orange sky, it was only when they arrived at Alice's Master that Alice realized that they had taken so long to deliver the ingredients because they had taken so many detours, and the moment she knocked at a wooden door that had a sign that said [ Intra's Alchemist Store ] that was engraved in fonted text.

Bonk! A staff hits Alice's forehead.

There stood inside the house a hunched old woman with white hair holding a staff, eyes burning in anger while her already wrinkled forehead wrinkled even more.

"Where in the hell have you been?! I've been waiting for you since noon, and it's already sunset! I already ran out of [Spirit mana crystal dust] and wasn't able to contact you via spirit summoning!" The old grandma said as Her fingers were shaking a bit.
