Chapter 5: Stealth Equipment

(Yozora’s POV)

I pushed the door of the smith, entering the shop at the bottom of the three stories buildings. The walls are covered in weapons and pieces of armor. At the end of the shop, a girl is behind a counter. She’s cute, with red hair and tan skin, with brown eyes and small breasts.

The sound of a hammer hitting metal comes from the back of the shop, and it’s a bit hot inside the shop. Seeing me, she smiles and say:

(Luna): “Welcome to the Mithril Hammer! I’m Luna, nice to meet you!”

She says energetically. I smile slightly, nodding and then I say:

(Yozora): “Nice to meet you, my name is Yozora. Do you guys sell stealth equipment?”

Still smiling, she claps her hands, saying:

(Luna): “You’re a rogue then?”

(Yozora): “No, assassin. I’d like suitable equipment, if possible.”

Nodding, she thinks for a moment, before saying:

(Luna): “We have quite a few pieces of armor, but only one full set at the price of three gold coins. We also have many daggers, and a particular pair for the value of two gold coins.”

(Yozora): “I’m interested on the armor set and the pair of daggers that you just mentioned. Mind if I see them?”

(Luna): “Of course!”

She says, retreating to the back of the shop. I do have the money, but it’s purely on silver, with only one gold coin. It’s quite expensive, enough to give a good life to a commoner family. I’m seriously thinking of buying it, and if it is appropriated for my “job”, I’ll buy it right away if they accept in silver.

She then brought a full set of mail armor, mixed with cloth, hiding the mail underneath with a good design, and a pair of daggers with fantasy all over its design. Luna then starts to explain the armor:

(Luna): “It was made by my father some years ago, when he had just mastered mail armor. However, most of our clients are warriors, and no one was interested in buying this armor. The mail is made with Black Steel, enchanted with silence and can stop a lot mora than a normal steel mail can.

The armor for the arm and the legs were also made by my father, and they are also made of Black Steel, with a Projectile Reflect ability, you can block arrows and other projectiles with them, and they will not cause any damage to the armor.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

The cloth was made by me, woven with the thread produced by the Nightcrawler Spider, and is also quite resistant and can resist blades as well to a certain extent. It’s also enchanted with Shadowmeld, and it will hide you while in the shadows.

Normally, this set would e much more expensive than three gold coins, but since it was made as an experiment, it wasn’t perfect as my father expected, so he wants to get rid of it as soon as possible, and the clothes would not sell if not together with the mail, so the price went down, since we didn’t waste almost anything on these clothes.”

I nod at the explanation of the armor. It’s really useful and will synergize well with my abilities as a stealth and assassination master. Alright, I will take this armor. I look at the daggers, feeling something ominous from them.

I’m not surprised if they are cursed or something like that. Although they are clearly clean, they give off the faint scent of blood, although it’s someone that isn’t sensitive would be able to smell at all. It’s not my first time seeing a cursed item too.

In my previous world, in Earth, I was trained as an assassin when I was at the orphanage when my master went there looking for someone talented. I accepted being trained by her when I was nine, as long she let me live in the orphanage and as long as she supported the orphanage, I would do whatever she wanted.

According to her, I had an absurd talented for assassination, as well for techniques of her clan. And with that, I was trained in a hell to save the decaying orphanage, and mastered various arts related to assassination at the tender age of 14. And, most surprisingly, magic does exist on earth.

However, I never learned magic, since the techniques that I learned are different from magic, involving the manipulation of the energy produced by the soul to create illusions so real that I can actually kill with them depending on the opponent. And, as I am versed in the matters of the soul, I can feel when something was cursed by the will of a human in its death.

(Yozora): “What about these daggers?”

(Luna): “I don’t know if it will interest you, as they are cursed. However, their curse involves only a mild bloodlust induction. If you have enough self-control, you should be able to resist quite easily. Also, as an assassin, you wouldn’t draw your blade with frequency, so you wouldn’t be affected.

They are made of Porium, a heavy and hard metal, even more than steel or titanium, below only Arcanium and Adamantite. Also, the curse has a boon. The curse, left behind by the personality of its previous masters, induces a bit of bloodlust on the wielder that may be dangerous with prolonged contact, however the blades are permanently sharp, and drink the blood of whoever they cut. The curse also has the effect of Open Wounds, making wounds hard to heal and bleed more.

However, because of the curse, the price has been reduced to one gold coin for each dagger.”

(Yozora): “I see… so they are good, but considered defective, because of that the price is lower than normal?”

(Luna): “Unfortunately, yes. Although they are considered high quality, they are on stock for more than three years, with nobody wanting to buy them. Because of that, the price is way lower, as well because of the curse. I will understand if you don’t want to buy them.”

She says, with a sad smile. Nodding, I ask:

(Yozora): “Do you accept in silver?”

So, after a short visit to a side alley to take out the money from inside my stomach to a handmade rucksack, I bought the armor and daggers. After equipping it, I also buy twenty throwing daggers and twenty arrows, since I made more than one bow in the forest to practice archery.

After that, I go around the town, buying some things that might help me, like a pouch that I tied on my belt, behind my waist, where I store my throwables. One thing that I find of interesting is that they sell Sulphur for alchemical purposes.

Because of that, I managed to find the components of powder. And there is also bamboo in this city. It’s impressive that there is such similar plant here, to the point that I’m suspicious that I’m suspecting that it was brought here from my world.

It’s the exact same, it grows as quickly, has the same name and the same utilities. Even the name is the same. And it’s quite common as well, and widespread. When I asked the merchant, he told me that a black-haired sage created this plant and several others.

So, there are people from Earth that have gotten to this world. And not only that, introduced foreign plants to this world. Of course, he told where to buy it, and also sold me some. I also bought the ingredients to black gunpowder.

I don’t need anything but the ingredients, since I can mix them inside my body passively. After cutting the bamboo on the sections, I made a hole at the top of each piece, making a small container. I will use this later to make bamboo hand grenades. They are surprisingly effective, and I used them a few times in times of emergency.

Alright, I’ll go out of the town and hunt some monsters to level up. After all, at level five, registering on the adventurer’s guild with my level of equipment might be something that will attract some unwanted attention.
