Dave Had Arrived at the mage academy and immediately asked for a high mage to talk to. Dave Knew of the high mage who came out of the mage academy with him. He was the high mage that specialized in fire and battle spells, though not much fighting nowadays.
He Had Told The High Mage about the Creeping crimson growth that was spreading in the forest and just how horrifying the experience was. Dave Said that the place smelled of terrible rotten flesh and that there were bugs everywhere. Told That there were crimson vines with thorns as sharp as miniature knives. Dave asked if the high mage was going to do anything about the problem. The High mage of fire whose name was Ichor was thinking and came to a decision. Ichor will go and see for himself this infestation and take care of the problem and then tell the other high mages about it. Dave was pleased with the answer and went back to his daily academy lectures.
Ichor was a bit confused by this information though, he never heard of such a thing before except for fire but this wasn't fire, this was something out of this world. Ichor went to the forest and went to the place where everyone was saying a meteor had landed which might explain how this thing had gotten here.

As Ichor has gotten nearer he noticed that Dave was right about the terrible smell but didn't think it would be so repugnant. Then Ichor Came across the things the boy had described, a fleshy biome of thorns, insects, and tendrils whipping across the sky. It was as if someone made the carrion of a dead animal a living biome. As the boy had described, the mass of crimson was spreading, Ichor Could not allow this horror to grow anymore.
He sprayed blazes of fire across the forest, burning the horrific sight before him. As Ichor was burning the horror he heard screams of a monster not of this world, screams of thousands of voices and coming from all sides of the burning mass of crimson.
Ichor noticed that this Thing was burning quite well so it seemed whatever it was, that it was vulnerable to fire. As Ichor had finished burning the thing he thought to himself that he would have liked to keep a small piece in a jar to study. He looked if there was any bit of the stuff was left, but there was not.
He collected his thoughts and started heading to the tower of high mages to tell them about what he had heard and seen.
