Chapter 20 [Fun is always the #1 Priority}

Only 3 days until I started learning at the Academy, I had already begun to pack up to live in the dorms, it was better than the shitty inn I was staying at. I was just finished packing and moving to the Academy with my one box of stuff until I was stopped. I had a hand on my shoulder, a very meaty, sweaty hand that I was tempted to cut off as soon as I saw it. I couldn't considering I was in the middle of the street.

"It's Farren right? I'm sure you remember me from the inn, and my friend Xavier you were traveling with"

Ah shit, don't tell me Meathead is suspicious of me, I didn't think he had enough brains to actually remember Xavier.

"Yeah, shame about Xavier isn't it, missing presumed dead sounds so grim but I'm sure he'll turn up" I flashed a smile and tried to keep walking but the hand on my shoulder didn't move.

"Can we talk in private, away from the noise in the street?" he gave me one of those double meaning smiles, I guess I should go with him considering if I didn't I would have to reveal my strength.

"Sure, let's go" I gave another friendly smile as he turned around and headed to the nearest alley, he wasn't the jolly guy I saw before, this guy looked pissed and dangerous with all his muscles and constant frown. Kinky.

"So what do you need to talk about? Is it about Xavier?" I set down my box of stuff in the alley and looked him in the eyes.

"Of course it is, I know what you did and you won't get away with it" I raised an eyebrow, how on earth did he know all that, "I know you're wondering how, there is a Seer in the next city who will sometimes allow people to use her services, I managed to speak to her and she showed me how you stole Xavier's soul and incinerated his body"

"Oh my, it seems I have been caught, what to do I wonder" I looked out to the alley into the street to see if there were people watching, it was the main street so a lot of people were going by, I put up an illusion so anyone who saw us would just see Meathead talking to his wife, I knew he was well known in this part of the city so people would recognize him.

"You can't try any soul stealing on me, I got protection from the church demonspawn, and now I'm going to get my revenge for Xavier" he looked smug, like he had already won the battle. I sighed, I always loved it when I proved people wrong. I dug my hand into his chest and reach for his soul, the look on his face was priceless, he started to shrivel up like a raisin and collapsed to the filthy ground of the alley. I incinerated his remains and kicked the ashes so they dispersed in the air.

Before I released my illusion I swallowed his soul, I wanted to know more about this 'Seer', did she tell the church about me? I read into Meatheads memories and found my answer. Turns out Meatheads name is Reese Greung, his last name was as disgusting as his face. The Seer doesn't discuss what she sees in visions to others so I am safe, Reese seemed to think I was a demon because I took Xaviers soul, honestly that's racism right there. Apparently the Seer was born with the innate gift to see parts of the past or future but in return she feels pain for as long as she sees it. Apparently the church has been scouting her for years saying she should only share her powers with them but she always refused, believing that not just those who served God deserved the truth. She even helped save the world once by predicting an undead army so when the dead arrived the kingdom was prepared with a Light magic spell to wipe them out, the Seer had an impressive resume.

I undid my illusion spell and picked up my box and continued walking to the Academy, I could see who I was boarding with and continue with my plans, today was going to be a good day.

"I must say Farren, I have been through your memories a thousand times and as you have forcefully made me your advisor and it's not like I have anything else to do, it's a surprise how you didn't get caught by the police earlier, you covered your prints, you avoided security cameras, you worse a hairnet so they couldn't take samples and pulled out the fingernails of the victims so they couldn't scratch you and the police find skin samples under their nails but most of the victims you killed all had a direct link to you, how did the police miss that?" Guardian said while I walked.

I smiled softly, I had figured out the answer to that question a while ago from a sociopathic recluse I hid with for a month to lay low. She was a complete manipulative bitch but I didn't expect her to be anything less, she was pretty smart too but I would never admit that to her and she gave some wise words when I asked her the same question Guardian asked me.

"Because my world doesn't have magic as you full well know, and the detectives don't have spontaneous revelations like in the T.V shows I watched, and there are no renegade doctors or private investigator geniuses that help the police either, you probably only saw those kinds in my memories right but if you dig deeper you will know it's all fake, you're only just scratching the surface of my world Guardian"

"It seems so, now that I actually check I see your point, I also see the person who told you this stuff, an interesting woman"

I agree internally, she was quite so, although I'd never admit that to the whore.

----------------------------------------

I arrived at the Academy, it was certainly a long walk from the bottom of the city to the center but my massive amounts of strength made up for it, speaking of stats I should check mine, whenever I eat a soul I gain some stats, normally for the stuff the people excelled in, which means I probably get a few hundred in strength, maybe even a thousand, he was an A rank after all and because of my growth I gain more levels and stat points that a normal person would, a lot more. Now that I think about it, I should probably kill his wife too, it would save the world from her horrendous looks, but later, I need to get in early to get a good dorm.

I followed the signs to the dorm housing, it was two massive black rock building facing each other connected by small grey office at the front, I walked in to be greeted by an odd Fae at the front, the reason I knew it was a Fae from the pure black eyes like Raf. What was different from Ref was the fact this Fae was nowhere near human looking.

It had deep purple skin with blotches of black, it looked sick and dying but that wasn't the worst part. The thing had 3 mouths, each human in appearance but that was what made it creepier, the mouths had long red tongues inside that occasionally shot out like a snake would.

It's eyes were also disproportionate to the face, they were huge like those stereotypical aliens on Earth and it never blinked due to a lack of eyelids. I thanked god it was somewhat normalized with average clothes donning it's tall body, its spindly arms had spikes sticking out that looked deadly to anything that touched it. It was by definition, an alien but I knew what they called it in this world, a Regen which is a weak and hideous Fae species, but I was never one to judge for looks.

"Good morning!" I say as I walk towards the desk where it sat.

"Good morning, are you a boarder?" it asked, its voice was oddly human, I could deduce it was female at least.

"Yes I am, although I'm new so I have to register for a room" I said, the creature showed a faint surprise, for what I did not know.

"You are in luck, a few rooms have been cleared due to... circumstances, so take your pick, you can have a room to yourself although weekly rent will cost extra or you can share a room with someone and rent will be split between the two of you, there is another room but I don't think you will like it" she gave me a look that said she wanted me to ask about the room. It didn't matter though, I was going to ask anyway.

"Where is this room? Can you give me details?"

"It's the bottom floor of the building, it was meant to be a basement but a student on the council got it remodeled to her liking and lived there for a couple of years before she died"

"Died? What killed her?" I was intrigued.

"She killed himself, and when the next tenant arrived she killed herself after 2 years of living there, no one has wanted to live there since then and that was 5 years ago, no one had gone down there to clean up after the poor girl jumped off the roof of the girls dorm here"

I had decided, I wanted that room.

"How much is the rent?" I asked.

"2 silver per week, it's cheap considering... well everything, so you'll take it?"

I nodded, she passed me the keys and watched me as I walked through the hallway into the courtyard between the boys and girls dorms, I headed to the girls and went to the nearest stairwell, it was then the box I was carrying was lifted from my grasp.

"A small girl like you shouldn't be carrying something  as heavy as this" I heard a voice say, I turned to see a tall girl with pixie cut blue hair smiling at me, she was a kind of sporty beautiful with toned muscles that weren't too bulky and lightly tanned skin, what I noticed first was the elf ears she had, it brought back the fond memories I had of Enn Revee's traumatized face.

"I think I'll be quite alright, the box only has a few things in it" I took the box back from her, she had obviously been struggling to hold it and when I held it I made it look like it was light, the box was full of skulls I had collected before, I may have done some killing off-screen... whoops?

Human skulls are actually pretty heavy if you have 10 of them shoved in a box along with some stray bones, I needed them for a project I had been working on. It had slipped my mind before but I was reminded by Enn, that there were hybrid affinities and God told me that I have these affinities but they would not show up on my status screen, that was before I went to build my new body.

"A-ah I see, that's fine if you can handle yourself, sorry for assuming, my name is Karin, as you can see I'm an elf" she pointed at her ears that she was obviously proud of.

"Hi Karin, I'm leaving" I said, I wonder if they have dad jokes in this world too? I turn and start to head towards the stairs until she calls out, interrupting me again.

"Wait! Can you at least tell me your name? I'm on the student council so it's my duty to know about new students" I pause, if she's telling the truth then she probably won't stop pestering me later. I sigh and turn around to face her again.

"My name is Farren, I'm human and now I'm leaving"

"At least let me escort you to your room" she gave me a million dollar smile that anyone of any race or gender would fall for, me? I was fed up with her.

"No need, it's right here" I walked down the staircase before she could stop me for the 3rd time. There was a door at the bottom of the dimly lit staircase with peeling red paint and a rusty brass handle with a keyhole I cast a spell so I could actually see anything.

I used the key the weird front desk lady gave me and entered the room and what greeted me was dust, a lot of dust. I couldn't really tell how the dust got there considering the room was sealed, knowing about God's active role on this planet makes me wonder if he just wanted to make my life difficult although there has been radio silence from him lately. If massive amounts of dust is his new form of communication I don't want to talk anymore, as delicious as his hot chocolate was.

I was still wearing the white dress and pink ballet flats I had since I massacred the village, I was still astounded at how this worlds fashion was so similar to earth but God did say he modeled this planet after Earth and it's fantasy stories. I didn't like the dress anymore considering I had to wash off the blood, I saw a wardrobe in the corner of the very large room I was going to live in, I walked over and opened it to see a few stray pieces of clothing, a long black dress with frills and layers, a pair of brown leather pants, a white stiff vest and a black button up cresson shirt, cresson was basically this worlds cotton but much, much softer and much, much more expensive, all the stuff in here was things a noble would have. I'm guessing the first two people who lived here were rich.

I changed into the leather pants and black shirt, they were a bit too big for me so I rolled up the sleeves and legs to fit. Then I began to clean, I used basic air magic to sweep all the dust into a pile and burnt it. I looked around the room to get a better look at it now the room she would live in for a while. A large bed was in top left corner, it had no sheets on it but looked relatively clean, no weird stains at least, the wardrobe was on the bottom right side of the room and was facing towards the bed, there was a mini library filled with shelves of books on the bottom left corner. In the corner of the library was a chair that looked like it was made out of blue jelly. There was also a desk with sheets of paper and an alchemy kit upon it that gave me some new ideas.

I had really hit the jackpot, the people in this world are too superstitious, they let ghosts get in the way of luxury. What I needed to do was form a list, things to do before school starts.

1. Get bed sheets

2. Get more clothes

3. Read the books on the shelves

4. Find out if the jelly chair is bouncy enough for me to jump on

I could tell which one was the priority before the sun sets... no. 4.
