The car pulled at a building. The inside was buzzing with activities, different people went in and out of it.
"Can I get an autograph?" Someone tugged at Henry's cloth before he could use his cap. He had forgotten he was outside. He cursed under his breath as he signed on a book the person had brought.
Crowds were pulling in before he could finish it. He looked around helplessly. Sighting an opening, he brushed past everyone and went inside. He almost knocked a file out of someone's hand. As he was trying to apologize the man held out his pen to Henry. He didn't try to answer the request. Instead, he hurried inside.
"You could have protected this place, were you going to have me killed by those people outside?" Henry pointed angrily at the man that was going to offer him the contact.
"I am sorry. Those crazy fans…." the man cursed softly under his breath.
Leila came running in, panting. "I am sorry" she gave a slight bow in Henry's direction.
"We have to get to this fast. I am aware you have a lot of things to do" the man turned to Henry.
"You bet I do" Henry sat on the chair that had been pointed to him, opposite the man.
"You have to sign here to accept the contact. You are one of the few ones that has been selected for the singing contest. I hope you perform well" the man passed the book over to Henry.
"What if I decide not to perform here? Am I allowed to quit?" Henry paused to hear the man's response.
"Nothing is going to happen. But I guess you know more than I do what is going to happen to your reputation if you decide not accept the contact" the man shrugged.
"Not that, I was not saying anything about not accepting the contract, I was talking about not performing in the contest" Henry took a pen and signed on the document.
"You are not participating in the contest, was that what you said?" A reporter Henry had not noticed questioned.
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
He cursed under his breath and raised his head to look at whosoever it was.
"I was just thinking aloud" Henry dismissed, quickly standing up before she would ask him another question.
"Tell us how you feel about the contest. Do you think you are going to be the first runner up?" Another reporter stopped him on the way.
"I don't know about winning, but I am sure I am not going to fail" he said quietly, trying to keep his voice ad calm as possible. The masses would not be the first to hear he was not sure of himself. Because at the moment he didn't know where he was going to start with his quick forgetfulness.
"Are you saying you are not sure about winning the contest?" She probed further.
Henry gave her a glare before Leila came to his rescue and paved way for him out of the place.
"They should have kept that place free, or find somewhere quiet for me to come sign the stupid contact". The driver opened the door for Henry to get into the car. Leualesat in the front seat.
"Are you not interested in it again?" Leila asked, concerned.
"Who cares. All I want is to go on a vacation and rest till I can think again" he took out his phone from his pocket and checked through it.
It was rare for Henry to go on a vacation, so it took Leila by surprise.
"It is going to be okay, there no need for you to be worried" Leila assured, not sure of what she was supposed to say.
"I know, and thank you for reminding me" he snapped, putting on his headphones.
"I am not going home yet, continue driving" Henry said when the car got to the gate was was almost inside the house.
"What do you mean you are not going home?" Leila turned to look at him. His face was expressionless. "You are aware the contest is coming up soon, you gat to practice. The fans are all out there waiting to hear you sing" She said worriedly.
It was obvious Henry was not listening to her, he stared out through the window.
"Henry?" Leila called at first quietly, but when she would not answer him she tapped him making him to snap out of whatever he was thinking.
"You gat to practice, there are only few days to the contest" she shouted, not believing herself.
"When was the last time I failed?" Henry took off his headphones and glanced at Leila.
"Not saying you are going to fail, I am just being concerned here. If you are not going to participate in the contest, you are not supposed to sign the contract in he first place"
"I changed my mind, so just keep mute. I have to think, but you need to first zero your mind about the contest. I am not interested again" Henry replaced the headphone back on his head.
"Drive me around until I am satisfied" Henry said again.
"We cannot do that! Henry! What is this heart of yours? Think and stop being childish for once!" Leila shouted.
"No more day off for you, I changed my mind too" Henry knew she had planned the day already, but he was not going to be bothered, she should think whatever he wants about him.
"I got that, but you are going home, so you are going home. Time to practice, and guess what? You are going to see the doctor soon. We have check and be sure of what is exactly wrong with you" Leila could not control her anger.
Henry loved her because once she made up her mind she was not the type to change it. And he always enjoy they way he was treated like s kid. He had no choice other than to allow himself to be taken to the doctor for check up. But he was not going to give in just like that. He would make sure to fight it first.
The coming days were going to be stormy, Henry needed no one to tell him. He was not sure how he would keep up with his position if he forget how to sing or forget what he was supposed to remember, especially at a time when he needed it most.
