Jacob had been walking for a couple of hours by now and his feet were beginning to feel sore from walking on uneven ground for so long. It was starting to get dark yet he felt like he made no progress in getting out of this jungle and the lack of awareness in the dark wasn't really helping out so he decided that he was going to settle in for the night.
While looking around Jacob found a greyish coloured 20 meter tall tree with branches wide enough for him to lie down on he began climbing the rough bark, feeling for any dents in the hard wood where he could place his hands and feet. After a few misplaced grabs he finally managed to climb onto the branch.
With a small thud he lied down on the branch back against the trunk and felt himself lean into the trunk. He turned around and found a large hollow hole in the tree enough to fit a bag in so he placed it inside incase it slipped away from him during his sleep. After making sure he was secure Jacob turned on his flip phone and begun playing the installed snake game. He stopped after a minute and turned it off as it wouldn't be wise to waste his battery incase he needed it. He took out an old photo and stared at it for a long time until he drifted off to sleep.
----------------------------------------
A rustle in the leaves ahead of Jacob woke him up startled, almost falling off the branch but getting a solid hold on it at the last moment. He propped himself up and stared at the leaves infront of him, heart beating fast. Two yellow eyes with black slits gazed upon him, making his body tense and hair stand up on his neck. He rubbed his eyes twice to see if he was seeing things because he just woke up yet the eyes were still there fixated at him.
The eyes emerged from the greenery and began moving towards him, slowly revealing the large elongated scaly body of a snake. It's long tongue slithered out of its mouth, tastings the air as if it could sense his fear. Jacob's mind was in a panicked state, thinking of ways to escape from this vicious predator. He thought of climbing down quickly but it would be too slow. Jumping down wasn't a viable option either as he would either die from the fall or get injured badly putting him in an even more vulnerable situation than he was in right now.
With no options and nothing to fight with he grabbed the bag and threw it at the reptile in a panicked attempt. The bag full of succulent fruits was smacked away easily and fell to the bottom with a splat. With his only source of food gone he fell into despair.
The snake hissed loudly and then slithered across the branch at terrifying speeds, immediately closing the distance between its prey. It wrapped around Jacobs right leg and then around his waist until it reached his neck. Rather than biting down on his neck it engulfed it with its body and began tightening on his leg, waist and neck. Jacob began losing feeling in his leg and saw that it had turned a dark purple. His waist was being slowly crushed which elicited a shriek from his mouth, only seconds later cut off by the tightening of his neck. With no access to oxygen Jacob began grabbing at the snake and tried to pull hard but it barely moved an inch. He wheezed, gasping for air while his neck was reddening and his head began to feel heavy and droopy.
This was it. He was going to die. His vision was beginning to darken and he was drifting off slowly. Despite knowing his demise he still resisted. He lifted off a few centimetres into the air, his leg bones creaking to the point where he almost buckled under the weight of the snake yet he still held on. If he was going to die, then he would take this god damned snake with him. He grabbed it's head and pushed off the branch, falling down to the ground at a rapid speed, then it went dark.
----------------------------------------
The last thing Jacob remembered was that he fell off the tree. He slowly opened his eyes to the sight of a snake half squished and twitching. It seems that when he fell off with the snake it cushioned the impact of the fall, but not enough to leave him unscathed. He grabbed his side and felt his ribs throbbing with pain. He wasn't sure whether they were broken or just bruised but it still hurt like hell. He tried to lift himself off the ground with his left arm then suddenly a sharp feeling shot right from his fingers to his nervous system. He fell in pain clutching his left hand, tears rolling down his eyes. He inspected his hand to find that two of his fingers were bent in unusual directions.
It would be bad to leave his hand in such a sorry state and the aching was constantly rebounding every few seconds which made him worry even more. He grabbed the first finger and tried to slowly reposition it which caused him even more pain than before. If he couldn't adjust his fingers slowly he would have to do it quickly and in one motion. He grabbed the finger once more and pulled as hard and as fast as he could away from him, eliciting a loud pop. He bit his lip hard knowing that if he opened his mouth a loud shriek would come out. A bad idea while in the middle of the jungle.
He grabbed the other finger and made the same quick motion once again hearing a pop, this time with slightly less pain. He didn't dare move his fingers now fearing that it would cause them permanent damage so for now he ripped his tie off and tied it around his hand. He lifted himself off from the ground with his right hand and stepped away from the snake. It's midsection mushed like paste on the ground and some organs had slowly begun to spill out, a clear indication that it was going to die soon. He looked at the once menacing head of the snake and saw anguish. It breathed heavily in an attempt to circulate oxygen around the body yet it didn't know that the bottom half of its slender body had been separated from it.

He could leave right now and go look for food and water somewhere else yet there was a 6 foot long animal that was probably full of meat lying Infront of him. He would have left the thing to die alone or get eaten by something else if food wasn't so hard to find in this jungle but this was an opportunity he couldn't pass on. After looking around the near by underbrush he found a large jagged rock just about able to fit in his right palm and picked it up, slowly walking around the almost dead creature and stopping at its head.
The snake desperately tried to turn around yet it felt the agony of moving slightly coupled with its depleted energy and gave up. If this thing hadn't tried to fucking kill him then he would have felt sorry for it but this snake fully deserves what's about to happen to it. He turned the rock around in his hand to the sharper edge and sat on the snakes neck, bringing the stone down on its skull. With a cracking sound the stone smashed the snakes skull open, spilling blood and brains.
Jacob got up and was wiping away the blood splatters from his cheek when saw a blue fluorescent light float out of the snakes body and flow into his body. He felt a surge of energy travel from his heart across his entire body along with a tingling sensation in his arm hairs. The pain that he had been enduring before had slightly faded and numbed. Before he even had a chance to feel his injuries a screen appeared out of nowhere.
Feat of strength performed.
Achievement unlocked
It had been hours since he had seen a screen and now it had appeared again, this time talking about some feat of strength and achievement. He was beginning to wonder what kind of achievement he got and how he could access the achievement but nothing came to mind. Could he order the screens to appear or could are they only controlled by some powerful being? Ok so looking back at the times where these notifications appeared the first one mentioned a planet grade. What is the planet grade? Does it grade the planet in terms of size or age or perhaps the "wildlife difficulty" that was mentioned.
While trying to figure out what the messages meant his mind clicked at the time where the tutorial message appeared. He had asked a question and the screen replied to what he said. So if the screen can respond to what he says, by saying the word Achievement will it bring it up. He could only try and he would lose nothing anyways.
"Achievement."
He waited for a few seconds, then a minute, then 5 and still nothing happened. So this thing either responded to something else or the fact that his "query" was acknowledged was a one time thing. He couldn't quite remember all of the messages as they didn't last long enough for him to engrain the words in his memory. If only he could remember the rest hoping to find a clue on how t-

Jacob spent a few minutes looking through the "Avalux" history,
which he assumed was the name of the screens until he landed on the word "Archive". It was the only word he didn't know what to relate to so he thought the word and sure enough the largest screen he had ever seen emerged.
