In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a man wakes up and wanders the lands with no memory. Every trace of remaining civilization is horrified at his appearance, calling him a devil and turning him away. As he accepts his fate, a girl shows up and introduces herself as an angel, seemingly seeing past his devilish appearance.  She offers him a role: To be an Apocalypse Cleaner, scouring the ruined world and finding the last traces of the weapon that destroyed it: The Source, taking care of any problems along the way.
