"So why does Jack hate me?" John asked as he got into a truck with Sarah. "He doesn't hate you, he's cautious about you." Sarah said as she bulked her seatbelt and started the truck. "You're new to this and he's trying to figure out why." Sarah said as she shifted the truck into drive and started moving down the dirt road. "You've got more money than most countries and you're the son of a senator. It's not adding up." Sarah said right before turning onto a paved road. John looked out the window for a couple of minutes before looking at Sarah.
"Long story or short?" John asked as he closed his eyes for a brief moment. Sarah just gave him a look before returning her attention back to the road. John picked up on the clue and he started to speak. "My old man and I had a difference in politics and threatened to send me to a military academy if I didn't change my tune." John said right before he started rummaging through the glove compartment. As John was looking through the glove compartment, a blade dropped down and caused John to stop looking. Sarah just sat in silence remembering the very first time she met Jack, he did the same thing and started looking through the glove compartment.
"There's no drugs in there." Sarah said before reaching over and slamming the compartment closed. John just sat back into the seat and folded his arms. "I can understand that, but what about him not trusting me?” John said as he looked out to the window to see road signs flashing by. “You were brought into this team because of Tyson his idea not Jack’s” Sarah said as she started the truck. “Jack didn’t know you and didn’t want to bring you in but he’s willing to take a chance on you.” Sarah said as she pulled into a parking lot.
“Do yourself a favor and take a chance on him.” Sarah said before pulling into a parking spot and turning off the engine. “Jack had a lot of people missing in his life, he only had three real friends. He grew up with Tyson, met Rob when he was going through a tough time and Kaz when they were both at West point." Sarah said before she opened the door and stepped out of the vehicle. John looked down for a bit, taking in everything that Sarah had said before stepping out of the vehicle.
"So what are you showing me?" John asked as he caught up to Sarah. "This is the warehouse, whatever you can think of, they’ve got it.” Sarah said as she opened the door and stepped aside to let John go first. John was annoyed by the gesture but didn’t feel like making a scene. As John walked into the building, Sarah followed right after him until they’re both inside walking to a counter to see a man cleaning a weapon. John glanced at Sarah but she just tilted her head to the side to motion for him to follow.
As they approached the counter Sarah noticed a cut on the side of his face. The man put down the weapon he was cleaning and just gave Sarah a blank stare, no emotion or words were used.
“Hey Devin, rough week?” Sarah asked as she pulled out a piece of paper from one of her back pockets and put it onto the table. “I’m needing everything that’s on the list.” Sarah said before Devin could even respond. Sarah then folded her arms and waited for a response.
“That’s a lot of stuff, what are you up to?” Devin asked as he rolled up the paper into his hand. “Can you get it or not.” Sarah said firmly. “Yeah, give me a couple minutes, would you like the sun and moon as well?” Devin said right before turning around to walk through a wooden door.
“You know him?” John asked as he leaned up against the counter. “Yeah, he’s dating my sister. She’s annoying.” Sarah said as she looked at John. “She’s the one who tells others they should eat healthy bullshit diets.” Sarah said as she mimicked John and leaned up against the counter. “Haven’t seen her for about two years now.” Sarah said as she looked down.
“By choice?” John asked. “No, we kinda went our own separate ways.” Sarah said with a neutral face. “We wanted to do our own things, she went to London and I went west.” Sarah said as she looked back up and made eye contact with John. "Made some money by cheating the games at casinos." Sarah said with a faint smirk. "Which game is the easiest to cheat?" John asked as he allowed his own faint smile to appear quickly. "Blackjack by a landslide." Sarah said as she allowed her smirk to turn into a full smile. John's smile disappeared just as quickly as it appeared.
"I thought counting cards was illegal." John said as he stood up straight. "It's frowned upon, not illegal" Sarah said as she mimicked John and stood up whilst maintaining her smile. "I think you're wrong." John said with his hands reaching into his pockets. "You calling me a liar?" Sarah asked as her smile slightly went away. "I ain’t calling you a truther." John said with a firm voice. Moment's later the wooden door opened and Devin walked through with arms full of stuff and dumped it onto the wooden counter. John’s face develops into confusion and horror as he looks at the counter.
“Is that a-” John was about to ask before Devin started nodding. “That’s illegal, how’d you get it?” John asked instinctively right as Sarah pulled out the green chip and flicked it over to Devin to catch. Devin looks at the chip with confusion washing over his face. “Rule number one: Don’t ask questions nobody wants to hear the answers too.” Devin said before looking at the green chip.
“So what the hell are you guys up to?” Devin asked as he pulled out his phone and moved his fingers across the screen. “We’re working on a Job right now, almost done with the prep work.” Sarah said as she folded her arms. “Any more questions?” Sarah said with a monotone voice. “Yeah, you got an open spot on the roster? Devin said as he folded his arms after the transaction on his phone was accepted.

“We could use a little bit of more muscle, but don’t expect much. We’ve already got all the talent we need.” Sarah said as she motioned Devin and John to follow her. “Where are we going now?” John asked as he and Devin both grabbed the stuff on the counter before quickly following suit. “We’re going back to the safehouse, we’ve got what we needed.” Sarah said as she opened the door to let John and Devin walk through.
“See that truck over there? That’s our ride to the safehouse.” Sarah said as she led the trio back to the truck. As Devin and John loaded the truck, Sarah turned towards the street seeing people moving from one side to the street to the other. Sarah smiles as she remembers the time when she bumped into Jack before actually meeting him on their first job.

“So what exactly is our escape plan Jack, we don’t have the best of options.” Bailey said as the trio ran down the hallway and down a flight of stairs until they rounded the corner to see people moving across the dance floor. “Stop, listen.” Jack said as he made a gesture for them to stop. “What now?” Bailey asked as she looked side to side in the hallway. “There’s no music.” Jack said quietly before motioning everyone to move forward slowly. As they rounded the corner “Police, stop!” Someone said before a gun went off and people started to scream. Bailey quickly raised her carbine and shot the officer in the leg. As he fell he knocked over a music stand and music started blasting. The trio then quickly got behind some cover and looked at each other wondering what their escape plan was. Jack read their faces and smiled as he peaked out of cover for a second. He saw the elevator was unguarded and was untouched by the police. Just after noticing, a bullet rang out right next to Jack's head and forced him back into cover.
“The elevator, it was our way in and it will be our way out.” Jack yelled as he gestured for a pistol from Rob. “Up or down?” Rob yelled as he tossed a pistol over to Jack. “Up, I don’t want to know what’s down below us.” Jack yelled as he peaked out of cover in an attempt to fire off a round. The pistol didn’t fire and Jack retreated back into cover before he could feel bullets hitting the cover he and Bailey were hiding behind. Jack looked at Rob and only saw him making a gesture to rack the pistol before firing. Bailey leaned around and fired off a handful of rounds before leaning back behind cover and looking at Jack and Rob arguing.
“Are you two done? We’re kinda in the middle of something!” Bailey yelled as she changed magazines. Jack closed his eyes and took a deep breath to control his frustration. When he opened his eyes, he racked the pistol and leaned out of cover and popped off a handful of rounds. “Bailey, you flank left and Rob you-” Before Jack could say anything else Rob pulled out his revolver and quickly fired off five rounds. Jack then heard the sound of five bodies hitting the floor simultaneously before hearing the cries of the cops. As Jack slowly stood up he saw all the cops holding onto their legs in an attempt to slow the bleeding. As he looked towards Rob, he could see him twirling the gun around in his hand until he put it back into his holster.
"Are we done here?" Rob asked as he turned to face Jack. In that same moment, an officer came around from a column and aimed his pistol at Rob. Bailey aimed her carbine at the cop and shot him in the chest. The cop collapsed onto the ground without ever firing his gun. Rob spun around and quickly pulled out the same revolver he just had out and aimed it at the downed cop.
"Stop, he's no threat." Jack said as walked over to the cop. "They're cops, they wear body armor for takedowns like this." Jack said as he kicked the downed officer's pistol away. Jack then took a knee and ripped open the officer's shirt to reveal some body armor. Rob and Bailey then saw the body armor and rolled their eyes.
"Come on, let's go." Jack said as he stood up and motioned for Rob and Bailey to follow him into the elevator. When they're all in the elevator, Jack pressed a button and the elevator started moving upwards. "So we took care of some of the cops, but there's still a problem below us." Rob said as he opened his revolver and started reloading it. "Not to mention we're in an elevator, only one way out." Bailey said as she ejected her magazine and loaded a fresh one. "We're fine, we're going upwards towards the roof. I saw a lift on the opposite side of the building before we came in." Jack said as he ejected the magazine in his gun to count the bullets.
Then all of the sudden the elevator stopped moving. The trio looked at each other before Rob pressed a button in an attempt to start the elevator again. After about a couple pushes the elevator remained still. Then the elevator shook for a bit before returning to stillness. Jack motioned towards the elevator door in an attempt to open it. After a couple of hard pulls from the trio the doors finally opened and showed they were in between floors. The elevator then shook again and dropped down slightly. Jack took a step back trying to figure out what was going on. A moment later, Jack looked up at Rob and Bailey and realized what was about to happen. "Oh motherfu-" Jack said before the elevator plugged into free fall.
The elevator filled with the screams of Rob and Bailey. Jack strangely remained quiet and was moving around inside the elevator. He grabbed Rob by his belt and then Bailey's shortly after and pushed them up against the wall that was across from the elevator door. Jack motioned at them to watch him. Jack showed them to plant their feet and push off when he's about to. As the elevator kept falling he noticed that every floor they passed there were more cops than the previous floor before. The moment Jack didn't see any cops, he pushed off the wall and could feel that Rob and Bailey had done the same. As the three of them all landed on the ground, they could hear a loud crashing sound right behind them and were in shock.
"Holy shit." Rob moaned as he rolled over onto his back and sat up. Bailey pushed herself up and got her knees under her. They looked at each other before looking at where they just escaped almost certain death. Jack sat up and started chuckling to himself.
"What's so funny?" Rob barked as he got up and then helped Jack up on his feet. "That's the express elevator." Jack said as he turned to offer Bailey a hand. "Was, that was the express elevator." Bailey moaned as she stood up and leaned on Jack for a bit before being able to stand on her own. "Question now is how do we get out of here?" Rob asked as he looked at the vacant room.
"Giles always had a way out of any situation, whether it was clean or desperate, she always found a way out." Bailey said as she went over the far wall from the elevator and pushed against it. A section of the wall gave way and slowly turned to show a hidden passage to the sewers. "Like I said, clean or desperate this is a desperate escape." Bailey said as she walked through before being accompanied by Jack and Rob.
