The Setup

When Jack woke up, he looked out through his window and saw it was still night time. Jack slowly got up and went over to the evidence board. He looked it over for a bit before his eye's landed on the bottle cap. As Jack stared at the bottle cap he pondered what the meaning of the number twenty-seven really meant. Just then there was a series of knocks on the door.

Jack walked to the door and opened it. It was Rob waiting for him. "We need to have a talk." Rob said as he folded his arms. "Walk with me." Jack said as he pushed past Rob and started walking down the flight of stairs. "If this about what I did to Sarah-" Jack was saying before he was cut off by Rob. "No, I think we've got a mole." Rob said as he looked Jack in the eye's.

Jack looked around the room before making a gesture for Rob to follow him outside. "Grab that would you." Jack orded as he pointed at a welder in the corner of the room before grabbing a welding mask and putting it on."What are you thinking?" Rob asked as he picked up the welder by the handle. As they walked outside Jack motioned for Rob to put the welder next to Sarah's truck.

"So what gives you the idea we have a mole?" Jack asked and he bent down to the ground and started messing with the settings on the welder. "It's a hunch more than anything, one of my guns was missing a firing pin." Rob said as he leaned on Sarah's truck. "Could've forgot to put it back in." Jack said as he turned on the welder. "That's unlikely, I clean my guns more often than Tyson eats, someone's either curious or trying to set us up." Rob said before turning to look at the door they walked out of.

Jack stands up with the welder in his hand before looking at Rob with a smirk on his. "Are you really going to weld her door closed?" Rob asked in disbelief as he looked back at Jack. "Door's." Jack said before dropping the visor down over his face. "Don't worry about it, we've got two days before kickoff, besides everyone has vouched for someone." Jack said right before he started welding the top of the door. After about a minute of welding, Jack stops and flips the visor up and looks at Rob.

"You know she's going to kill you right?" Rob said as he pulled out a pistol and removed the magazine. "Wouldn't be the first time." Jack said as he started welding the door. Rob shakes his head before moving over to the tailgate to drop it. Rob then removes all of his pistols off of his vest and holsters before laying them across the tailgate. He then starts disassembling one of them to clean it. After a couple of moments Jack stops welding and lifts his mask up to look at the work he's done. "You never did tell me how you and Sarah met. Was it by chance or did you set it up?" Rob asked as he sent the slide forward.

"It's kinda funny how we meet if I'm honest, she interrupted me as I was in the middle of a job." Jack said as he looked closely at the weld he had just done. "I had just finished breaking into the bank and as I was leaving she held a karmbit to my neck from behind." Jack said as he went to the other side of the truck and began setting up again. "I dropped the bag and told her she could have it if she just moved the knife away." Jack said as he rubbed a finger along the gap of the car door. "What happened after that?" Rob asked as ejected a magazine and pulled the slide back. "She moved the blade away from my neck and picked up the bag. I told her to take the money and run." Jack said as he crouched down and looked at the welder.

"Is there more to this story or is that it?" Rob asked as he interested the magazine back into the gun and pushed the slide forward. "Aye, I placed a tracker in the bag and I just followed it until it stopped moving." Jack said as he configured the settings on the welder. "She led me back to her place, when she opened the door, she didn’t expect to see me standing beside the door. I told her she could keep the money on the condition that I could take her on a date." Jack said as he stood up and put the welding gun against the door. "After that, the rest is history." Jack said right before he started welding again. Rob let a faint smile on face as he shook his head. When Jack finally stopped welding, he lifted his visor up and motioned for Rob to look. "So why did you placer a tracker in a bag of money?" Rob asked as he looked at the weld and sighed. "It's an old habit my brother and I had, saved us a lot of time and tricky situations." Jack said as he smirked at the weld.

"You think she'll notice?" Jack asked as he turned the power off for the welder with his foot. "It's possible." Rob said as he looked at the weld for a moment before turning around back to the tailgate to collect his pistols. Jack picked up the welder and put it into the bed of the truck right as Rob was lifting the tailgate up. "So what now?" Rob asked as they started walking back towards the side entrance. "Tyson is training the new guy, Connor is still taking care of Morgan's wound, Devin is still taking a nap, I don't know what Yumi is doing but Sarah is trying to rekindle our relationship." Jack said right before they approached the side door. "Are you going to get back with her?" Rob asked right as he was pulling the door open. Jack pushed the door closed and looked Rob in the eyes.

"I'm still asking myself that question, but if you think a mole is in play, I will make a backup plan." Jack said as he looked to the side and started thinking. "Who's going to know about the back up plan?" Rob asked as he let go of the door. "As of right now, only Kaz and myself. No need for everyone to know about two sets of plans." Jack said as he then looked at the door and pulled it open. "I see your point, but in the heat of the moment you'll have to explain the new plan very quickly." Rob said as he put his hands on the collar of his vest and walked back inside with Jack. "Rob, what is it that I always say?" Jack asked without turning his head. "Got to take chances to win." Rob said with a smile.

Jack looks to his left to see Tyson and John sparring on a mat. Jack was impressed to see John moving and dodging a plethora of Tyson shots until an unorthodox kick landed on the side of John's head. With John dazed and confused, Tyson capitalized on the moment and swept John's legs sending him down onto the mat. Jack started clapping as he stepped closer to John before offering a hand to help him up.

"Don't feel bad for getting your ass kicked, Tyson here fought for the golden gloves in his youth and in the UFC before he got banned." Jack said as he pulled John up and onto his feet. "How do you know what to throw at your opponent during a fight?" John asked as he started to rub the side of his head where Tyson’s kick had landed. "You don't." Jack said as he looked around and saw Sarah standing right next to his bedroom door. "You play to your strengths. You keep your opponent guessing as to what your next move will be." Jack said as he stared at Sarah. Sarah then started making her way down the stairs and over to the group.

"Every opponent is beatable; if your strengths are equal to your opponents, then you need to find a weakness and exploit it." Jack said as he turned his head back to the group. "What if you can't find a weakness?" John asked as he still rubbed his head. "Then you make one." Jack said right before he looked at Rob and motioned for him to follow.

"Sarah, go ahead and train John." Jack said as he motioned for Rob and Tyson to follow as Jack walked away from the group. "Everyone is a suspect, this is the setup."Jack said to Rob as they ascended the staircase and walked over to the observation deck that connects to the training room. "Lock the door behind you, I want you guys to watch this." Jack said as he went over to the control console. Rob followed the instructions and locked the door behind them. "So what are you showing us?" Rob asked as he put his hands next to his hips, ready for the world's fastest quickdraw.

"I've yet to test Yumi, I think it's only fair to see her prove her skills." Jack said as he flicked the lights on and showed the full training floor. Jack and Rob looked through the bottom of the glass and could see Yumi with her back turned to the training room on the same platform that Rob stood on for his test.

"Operator, in this scenario you’ll have to eliminate all targets. Scenario begins now." Jack pushed a lever forward and the platform Yumi started to turn. As the platform turned, Yumi went into a prone position and loaded her weapon. Within a moment Yumi was ready with her weapon, looking down range waiting for targets to show. Jack then pressed a button and music filled the room.

"Now let's see how good of a shot she is." Jack said as he folded his arms. Tyson and Rob both looked out into the field looking for the targets but unable to find any. "Where are the targets?" Tyson asked as he looked over at Jack then Rob. "They're out there, any decent sniper will find them." Jack said as he looked up at the clock and saw that thirty seconds had passed. "Jack this isn't fair, she ne-" Rob was saying right before Yumi had fired her weapon. "Hit." Jack announced as he pressed another button. Rob looked over down onto the test floor and saw a decent hole in one of the pieces of cover and behind it was a broken target.

"Targets are hidden, why's that?" Rob asked as he folded his arms and looked over at Yumi, trying to read her body language. "One word: Camouflage. " Jack said as he flipped up a plastic cover that covered a switch. "Targets don't know where she is, so same philosophy applies to her. She has to S.W.A.G it." Jack said as Yumi fired off another round and destroyed another target. Jack then flipped the switch up and targets started moving a couple of barrels started rising up from the floor.

"S.W.A.G it?" Rob asked as he started seeing more targets moving. "Scientifically Wild Ass Guess." Tyson said with a grin. "How come I've never heard that one come out of your mouth?" Rob said as he looked up at the clock and saw one minute remaining. Yumi fired off another round and immediately all the targets started moving their way to Yumi's position. In a very quick moment, Yumi shot one of the rolling barrels and caused it to explode.

"Shit!" Tyson and Rob yelled in shock while Jack stood emotionless. "Are you insane?" Rob asked as he looked at Jack. Jack let out an annoyed breath of air before reaching for a button and pressing it. The sprinkler system on the ceiling kicked on and started putting out the fire. Jack then looked at the clock and saw only thirty seconds were remaining on the clock. Yumi fired off another round and missed her intended target but hit the one behind it. Tyson and Jack chuckled as the targets were still moving closer to Yumi.

"Come on." Rob mumbled under his breath as the trio looked up at the clock, only ten seconds remained on the clock. Yumi fired off a round and hit a target leaving only one target. The target was all down the training floor but was a different color, this target was painted yellow. Yumi saw the target and adjusted her weapon and right at the lights in the training room pulsed red. Yumi fired her weapon right before the lights turned to a solid white.

After everyone had adjusted their eyes, they all looked down range and saw the yellow target was still standing. Rob stood silent as Tyson shook his head. "Guess she's not earning the presidents one hundred tab." Jack said as he folded his arms. "She failed and you know what that means." Jack said as he looked at Rob. "Yeah I know, any room for negotiation?" Rob asked as he watched Yumi stand up and started walking over to an exit on the side. "Either you both get half of your shares or she doesn't get any. I'll let you two figure it out." Jack said as he turned and started walking out.

"So what now?" Tyson asked as he started following Jack. "I don't know, go find something to do I guess. What I need to do right now is to change the oil in my refrigerator." Jack said as he passed Sarah and John training together and went towards the side entrance to the safehouse. "The refrigerator is that way!" Tyson yelled as Jack nonchalantly gave a shrug before spinning around and grabbing his coat and walking out the side entrance. "Did he just say he was going to change the oil in the refrigerator?" John asked as he lowered his fists and looked at the side entrance. "Yeah, he always makes up the most ridiculous excuses." Tyson said right before he turned away and went over to the bathroom. John stood there confused for a moment before Sarah had landed a punch to his stomach causing his to fold over.

"Never give your opponent the advantage." Sarah said as she took a couple steps back and waited for John to get up. "I didn't give you an advantage." John said as he stood up and pounded his gloves together. "You took your eyes off your opponent and I capitalized on it." Sarah said as she got into a makeshift fighting stance. "Fair enough." John said as he threw his fists up and started making his approach to Sarah
