Chapter 35

While Jet moved into place to strike Glass, Carion also moved to her side. He wasn't too sure what Jet had planned. But he would wait to take the next move. That didn't happen as he had planned. When Jet's fist came in contact with her Armor, an explosion rocked the city. Jet did not stop with that. Before the explosion, a wall of earth with four spikes had formed. When Glass hit the wall, the four spikes held her down at her shoulders and legs. Once pierced, the earth formed around her skin.

Glass cocked her head and smiled. "You are amazing."Jet fell to his knees and coughed out blood with blue liquid. "Willing to destroy his own body to win a fight." The earth around her crumbled as she stretched her body. The holes repaired themselves in a second.

Carion stepped in before she could get to Jet. His fist landed right on her jaw. Glass went flying from the attack. "Good, she doesn't know how to use body enhancement energy." Carion staggered forward, mustering all his magic he had left.

Glass got back up and cracked her neck. "Carion the invincible. Just as stubborn as his grandfather." She disappeared and reappeared behind him. Her lance shoved through his chest again.

Jet appeared behind Glass, and his soul screamed at him. It felt like his body was going to explode or break apart. He wasn't entirely sure which. World Breaker formed in his hand as he sliced through her arm with the lance. The metal of the blade was coated in fire to stop any bleeding.

Glass moved far from them, cursing. "Fuck, that hurt." It didn't take long for her arm to grow back.

Carion ripped the lance from his chest. He forced his body to repair along with his hand. "We both have nothing left. Jet, keep up if you can. But do not kill yourself in the process. You need to stay alive for one minute." His eyes changed from brown to white as snow. However, Carion's hair only changed to a crystalline structure.

"Carion, when did you learn to use Mag-Liv energy?" Almark looked at him.

"Not exactly. My body can hold little of the energy. If I hold it for more than twenty seconds, I'll die. So I'm on the clock. Jet, you must finish her after I'm done." The ground shook as Carion shot toward Glass.

Jet watched in amazement at their speed. It was no wonder Carion had said eyes couldn't keep up with fighting. Even with his senses, he couldn't keep up with them. However, Glass was using up her energy fast as she fought. "Almark, get ready."

Almark had a confused look on his face. Jet ignored him as he waited for his opening. At the rate Carion was going, he was going to lose. The ground around them cracked and rumbled as the fight dragged on. Then Jet saw his opportunity to put an end to the battle. There was also a good chance he wouldn't survive. But it didn't stop him. Jet pulled all the magic in the air to him, forcing his magic cores to create more.

The world slowed to a crawl as Jet went into OverDrive. The ground crumbled all around them. Spikes shot in all directions as Jet held nothing back. One even went close to Carion. Glass had managed to dodge them all. Jet pulled out Fate and shot. She wasn't able to fully block the blow. Her shoulder armor shattered at the force of Fate's shot. Jet noticed that she had all her attention on him, which is what he had been hoping for. The next second, Jet grinned wickedly at her. Glass turned as she felt the pain in her legs. Carion had chopped them off with World Breaker. However, Jet had not expected his next move. Carion stabbed the sword through her shoulder. It glowed brightly as it absorbed all the Mag-Liv energy out of her.

"Well, I didn't expect that." Jet took a step forward and fell. He watched in horror as he realized his leg had snapped off.

Carion immediately punched Glass across the face, knocking her out. "Almark, we need to hurry. Jet's body is collapsing."

Jet wanted to say he was fine. But, for the first time in his life, he was in too much pain to talk. He had a very high pain tolerance. Now, however, all he wanted to do was die. That was how much pain he was in. Too bad for him, he had to hang onto life.

Almark didn't waste time as he started the ritual. That was the only word to describe what he was about to do. A Clock that was nearly see-through formed in the air. This was a representation of Almark's soul. "Put her in the clock." Almark looked at Carion.

Carion did not hesitate and set her down very hard. All he wanted to do was lie down. His body felt as if it was on fire. Using Mag-Liv energy without a runic magic was deadly. He looked over to Jet and smiled. "You are amazing."

Almark eyed Carion curiously as if asking for an explanation, Which Carion did. "When we were fighting. One of his earthen spikes that almost hit me had World Breaker inside. So I followed as if I had almost gotten hit. Then, waited for him to get Glass's full attention."

Almark smirked. "He was never leader material." Jet was mostly known for getting lucky with a plan for the future. Now Almark had another problem. There was no way he could power the new clock he had formed. Even with Ford helping, he wasn't sure if the plan would work. His thoughts went to using the entire world to power the clock. Not that he could do that. 'What was the plan here, Ford?' He thought and got an answer.

The scariest black chain fell from the sky, connecting to the clock. Almark fell to his knees, buckling under the pressure of the power. When he looked at the chain, there were pinpricks of souls moving through the links. "Wait, is Ford going to use all the souls he carried? But what if he gets sucked in with them?"

"No need to worry. His soul has already been released. Which I need to tell Jet something." Carion moved over to Jet and rolled him carefully. Pieces of him fell off as he was rolled. "Are you still conscious gramps?" When Carion saw a blink, he sighed with relief. "Ok, that crystal I gave you has a copy of your soul. Trust me, I would have noticed if it was your actual soul. That would have made a paradox keeping it in your own world. Enough of that. When you return to where Glass hasn't affected your time, you can use the crystal to talk to your older self. So you should return to the tournament you were in, most likely."

At Carion's words, a laugh sounded out. "You are all fools." Glass let out. "The first time I tried to kill Jet was in front of an ice cream shop."

Carion looked over to Almark. "Any idea how far back Jet will go?"

Almark had a look of horror on his face. "That would be all the way back to the start."

"Judging from your face, that is a bad thing." Carion looked over to Jet.

"Britney, why did you even go back to attack Jet? I'm the one who left your family to die. So why are you after him?" Almark grabbed her shirt, forcing her to look at him.

As she broke apart, she smiled. "Because Jetsford was the cause of the world falling."

"I see." Almark let her go, watching her break into pieces. "Carion, the problem is, the further back in time he goes, the more changes. If it was only a week, not much would happen. Not only that, she lied."

Carion cocked his head. "What do you mean?"

"I knew the girl quite well growing up. When she lies, her left eyelid twitches. So Britney affected his life much further back than she had said." Almark watched the world shift as the clock struck zero.

Carion bellowed out a laugh. "Sounds like it's my grandfather's problem now. I'm sure things will work out in the end. So, I'll see you later."

Almark gave into Carion's attitude. "Yes, see you later, my friend." He looked at the clock then at Jet. He walked over to Jet and picked up what was left of him. Almark carried him to the clock. "Jet, my friend, make sure to friend me again in the future." Jet did not hear what Almark had said. He had lost consciousness.

Jet woke up and held his head. Memories flooded his mind all at once. The first memory he noticed that was different was his parent's death. This time, only his mother was dead in a car crash. But his father was still alive. Then, the worst thought struck him. He had never met Amanda in this timeline. "No, this cannot happen."

Jet got up and turned on a light. It was his room in the same house. There were more games this time around. "It's all pointless." Why had he been so enthralled with games this time around? Amanda was the reason. With her around, he hadn't played games as much.

"Hey, something the matter, Ford?" Jet's father, William, comes into the room. That man looked as if he hadn't been sleeping well. It was obvious to Jet why. His father was worried about him.

Jet had the urge to hug William. After all, he had been dead to him for a long time. But, simultaneously, he had always been there for Jet. "Yes, I've lost her."

William had a pitying look on his face. "You won't die like mom."

Jet was completely confused by what was said. Then, it struck him that William thought he was talking about his mother, Susan. "Oh no, I won't die quite yet. Dying was a little too painful to go through twice." When he saw the puzzled look on William's face, he smiled. "Don't worry, Father, I will be fine. I've just lost someone very important to me. Not mom." He added.

"Ok, care to explain?" William asked.

Jet couldn't get over how he could talk so casually with his father. Dead for years and now alive. The mixed memories were throwing him off. "The girl of my dreams." He didn't stop to explain and walked out of his room, going for the house's front door.

"Ford, what's going on? Where are you going?" William ran out the door after him. "It's still too early to head to the hospital."

Jet waved back to his father. "I'm going for a walk. We can cancel the hospital visit." While Jet walked, he realized it was cold out. He didn't remember it being so cold before his first Jump." William put a jacket around Jet's shoulders. He gladly accepted the coat and continued to walk. His body was on autopilot, heading in the direction of Amanda's house. 'I'll win her heart back if I have to.' Jet thought as he walked.

"Jet." Someone yelled in the distance.

Jet's heart skipped a beat. The voice sounded like Amanda's. At first he thought his mind was playing tricks on him. But when he looked up, Amanda was running his way. Jet's mind raced. She shouldn't have a clue about their past.

Jet nearly fell as Amanda tackled him. "Jet, I was so worried."

"Don't worry, I am here." Jet held her tight. After a while, he noticed she had almost nothing on except a T-shirt. He pushed her back to take off his coat for her. It took all he could not to ball his fists when he saw all the bruises on her, always where they wouldn't be visible at school. Except he was sure this time around there were more bruises on her. "Let's go home."
