It was the afternoon of day 12, they had been driving all day with only a few short stops. Paul looked up the motor camp they had thought about on the travel app.
“Its is not far away, just on the outskirts of town” said Paul.
“Anywhere is more awesome than this car at the right now. Let's go” said Amataya squirming in the back seat.
They came down the off ramp and made a right towards the motor camp. They were just making the next turn when a Sainsbury's truck came out of nowhere smashing their car off the road.
The carnage was bloody and brutal. The passenger's side of the car was crushed, Paul included. Amataya was pinned against the back seat by the rear door that had been smashed inwards. Only Shige was able to get out on the driver's side, somehow, he got away with only minor cuts and bruises though his ears were ringing. He crawled back in to get to the others, trying to work out how to help them.
Amataya was unconscious and Paul was screaming deliriously. In tears he climbed back out of the wreckage and pulled out his phone to call an ambulance. A second truck appeared on the scene.
“It's bad Bruce, the two in the front are fucked up” he heard the driver say.
Bruce came up to Shige. “Mate this is bloody awful. I'm not sure if your friends will make it. We are minutes away from a specialist private facility that could save their lives. An ambulance will be at least 20 minutes.” he said in an urgent voice.
“What do you mean” shouted Shige in shock.
“Help us get them in the truck, it's their best option.”
The driver of the crashed truck backed his truck away from the wreckage and came to help. He gave Paul a shot of something that knocked him out

“This is on your head Franco, and on your account,” said Bruce.
“Too right, but let's just get this done,” said Franco.
Shige was too shocked to argue or to notice that it wasn’t just food in the Sainsburys truck. He helped load his unconscious friends in front of some glossy machine. Amataya’s right arm was just about severed through the shoulder, and she was losing a lot of blood despite the field dressing bandaged around her holding her arm together. Shakily he put another bandage over a gash on her face. Shige held her hand and cried as the truck pulled away. Paul's legs were a mess. The drivers had tied some rope as a torniquet above each knee.
It seemed like only a minute later when he felt the truck turn and the reverse beeper go off as the backed up. As soon the roller door opened, they were met but several people with stretchers who rushed them into the building. Shige could see it was a water works facility from glimpses around, but it didn’t seem right for the care that was promised.
“I take it the drivers told you what was going to happen,“ said a woman bustling along beside them.
“Just that there was a fancy medical facility center here, but it doesn't seem right.” he replied.
“Ok so this kind of facility is somewhat unique. I'm certain that without it at least one of your friends will die. The only catch is that this particular facility is so secret it may be difficult for you to return to your normal life afterwards.” she told him.
“We were all leaving our normal life, so I don’t think it will be a problem.” said Shige now confused as well as in shock.
“Well, you are in for an adventure, once we go through those doors there is no turning back.” Shige simply nodded and they plunged through the swinging doors.
They were in a large room, several large blue pipes marked water ran along underneath a conveyor belt, together they went through a dark hole with a vividly glowing blue rim around it. The hole was about the size of a large fridge. Assorted boxes ran along the conveyor belt and through the void accompanied by the constant sound of flowing water.
“What the hell is this, this is no medical facility” shouted Shige.
The lady took his hand. “There is one love, it's just that it's through that portal.”
Shige was trying to process her statement when someone came up from behind. He felt the prick of an injection then nothing as he collapsed unconscious.
