After some initial rehabilitation Dr Sue helped to get Amataya a job in the loading bay with her partner Ruth. To move gear about the loaders wore robotic body suits. They could be dialed for resistance to allow the operator to use some muscles to prevent atrophy or to provide resistance to help build muscle. These adjustable settings meant they were perfect for rehabilitation. As bodies grew stronger and more flexibility, resistance and range of motion could be added.
Ruth was always there to guide her and the two developed a great bond, they chattered about babies, birth, aliens, space flight and everything in between. Ruth insisted that they time their hospital visits together so she could go with Amataya. Their place was just past the pod wall. Ruth had a weekly cancer treatment using sound tech and injections of cancer eating bacteria. Amataya’s treatment was sound based as well to massage the scar tissue and scans checked on the bone grafts.

“I don't think I can put up with those pods for much longer, a week was more than enough,” she said to Ruth as they carted some oversized crates out from a visiting starship.”
“There are a lot of options, that baby will need a bit more room than a pod when it arrives. Sue and I have a nice place, but it is small and rather pricey. Between the rent, food, water and my treatments we don't save much. Chat to the boys, out here many things are possible that we would never have dreamed of on earth. I certainly would have died years ago with my cancer and these suits mean I can still work out and work in a physical job even at 60.”
