Chapter 41

Seeing the notification, Anna stopped what she was doing, releasing Tai's arm.

"Umm..."

Tai raised an eyebrow. "Yeah?"

"It said that I can turn you into a vampire."

Hearing what Anna said, Tai considered it. Vampires were strong, but he was already strong. They could see in the dark, but he already could. They were also immortal, but he was confident that if he raised his endurance enough, he would have some type of immortality through regeneration. In the end, he already had most of what vampires had without the weakness so he turned down the offer.

The day after that went great. They ate their food and Anna, now reinvigorated by Tai's blood, which she found a bit weird since they were siblings, did their missions.

Since Anna was now stronger than before, they could finish more low-level missions to reach their promotion faster.

The day passed normally, though Tai noticed that some people were spying on him, but he paid them no mind.

The next day was no different from the last. They did there boring, and repetitive missions, but this time, Tai had reached the required amount of missions to take the test for promotion.

The test was fairly simple like the ones before it. A simple strength test if one was a fighter and a magical test if one was a mage.

Tai had actually seen no one fail these tests before, but give it some time and someone will eventually.

Just like he expected he passed it easily and was now Rank A, but the only problem was that Anna was still Rank C.

"Don't worry about it. I can do my missions fine. Plus, I'm sure you're bored fighting these weak monsters." She smiled as she hugged him.

Tai smiled. She knew him well and knew that he always liked the challenge.

He hugged her back. "You might not see me for a while, so stay safe. Don't worry mom too much."

"Why? What are you doing?"

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

"You know when the dungeons got released that there was a 6-month protection on Earth, err... Planet I mean?"

"Yeah?"

"Well what do you think will happen after that protection is gone? Other beings and empires would try to get this planet under their control. Maybe they're already having talks and have already decided who's taking the planet, but who or whatever it is, they are way stronger than us, so I'm gonna train in the dungeons."

Anna felt a bit dumb. She was supposed to be the smartest out of the family. "Well, then I'll be hard at work too. You'll see I'll be a feared vampire."

She smirked a bit of her fangs showing.

Tai chuckled. "Goodbye then, and I hope what you said is true when I get back."

They said their goodbyes and Tai left, but before leaving the city, he decided to pay Valgrek a visit and told him that he wouldn't be able to visit the smithery for a while.

The old dwarf grumbled since he enjoyed teaching Tai, but respected his decisions, but he did give him something.

"Take this here. It's a book o' all that i know o' crafting magix."

Tai smiled and thanked the dwarf, gladly taking the book and placing it into his darkness.

He considered saying goodbye to his mom, but he knew that she would cry, so he would just leave that for Anna to deal with.

Leaving the city, he arrived at the dungeon and went to the floor that he had last been in, the 10th level.

This time, instead of taking his time, he decided to rush through the levels of the dungeon until he couldn't just rush through and had to be careful.

Tai progressed through the dungeon with his new strength easily clearing the waves of monsters that tried to fight him, but on the 15th level exactly, it was weird.

There were humanoid monsters that seemed to have created a crude village with crude houses. There were also kids and babies that looked at him, their parents taking them into the crude houses. Using the translator function of the system, one of the creatures spoke to him.

"No... Here for you."

The creature kneeled down, grabbing what looked like a fruit and meat and offering it to Tai.

This wasn't what shocked him though. It was that he was thinking of destroying this village that was causing him no harm. It was weird. Ever since the world changed, his personality changed. He didn't think twice about killing, not even of his own kind. It was never like this before and he actually didn't like hurting anything, but it seemed that, that part of Tai had mostly disappeared.

He didn't accept the food and kept on going his way, reaching the 19th floor. On here, he had to be very careful. In fact, from level 10-19 he could've been bombarded by numbers and would've taken severe damage or needed to retreat, but on level 19 it was different.

Every creature here was around the same level as Tai meaning that if he wasn't careful he could really die. Using his ki, which had now been enhanced with fire, he dealt with the monsters that attacked him, but he had to be careful and put out the fire as fast as possible so the light wouldn't attract a pack of monsters.

Doing this, some of his ki-related skills leveled up.

This was Tai's plan. Level up and train in a place that was hard for him and when he was strong enough, go to the next level where there would be harder monsters. Rinse, and repeat.
