Walking along their path, Select, Kate, and Max continue on their way.
“Damn it, do we have much longer?”
“No, not that much…”
Suddenly, a bunch of soldiers emerged out of nowhere, surrounding Select and his group.
“What the hell?” Max jumped.
“Capture them!” a guard yelled.
A quick blow to the head prevented Kate from transforming, causing her to collapse to the ground.
“Alright, Max, we don’t have another option,” Select raised his arms.
The knights took them to a huge castle, where a spooky woman observed them from a massive throne.
“Oh shit, could she be the queen that inspired the Evil Queen?” Max wondered.
“I don’t know.”
“Who dares to enter my kingdom?” the Queen asked furiously.
“I do,” Select said with a smile.
“How dare you speak to your Highness like that?” the Queen furiously said to Select.
“Me maybe? I don’t see other person talking to you right now.”
“Do you know what happened to the last person who disobeyed me?”
“What?”
“I ordered them to beheaded.”
“At least they didn’t have to put up with you anymore, what a bore.”
“What are you talking about, fool?” the Queen threatened.
“The only clown I see in the room is you,” Select replied.
“Take them to the dungeons!”
“You couldn’t just stay silent, could you?” Max said to Select.
The dungeons were a cold and dark place.
“I’m where I wanted to be, Max,” Select replied. “Alright, Kate, we need you to break down this door.”
“It can’t be that simple,” Max said.
“By not transforming, they don’t know about Kate’s power, so they underestimate her strength.”
Select jumped at the sound of the gate hitting the ground.
“Run!” Select shouted.
The soldiers could be heard from behind.
“Let’s go.”
Suddenly, Select noticed something strange in the mirror.
“Trying to escape?” he heard coming from it, before the Queen’s hands dragged him into the mirror.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Inside, the world of the mirror twisted, spun, and defied all laws of physics.
“Oh shit…” Select said, before being thrown against a wall.
Kate and Max burst into the mirror, pushing the Queen.
“Let’s go, guys!” Select shouted.
Running through those corridors felt unreal, due to the impossible twists and all those surreal elements.
“Shit, the road is gone!” Max shouted.
“No, look closely,” Select jumped and inverted to the ceiling. “Oh my God, how strange!”
Max and Kate did the same as the Queen approached quickly.
“Running so much is bad for the joints!” Select shouted at her.
The trio crossed the surreal labyrinth closely followed by the Queen, until they reached a dead-end.
“I’ve got you,” the Queen said.
“Oh really?” asked Select.
The Queen took out an apple and prepared to throw it. Select grabbed the diary tightly.
“I see you’re hungry, eat this!” the Queen shouted. When she was almost touching the apple to our adventurers, Select used the diary as a baseball bat, throwing the apple back to the Queen, who ate it whole.
“Strike!” Select shouted.
The Queen fell to the ground, motionless.
“Percival de Carpenter was truly the Last Great Hero, his diary has saved us several times already,” Select said, looking at the diary.
“Let’s go back through the mirror.”
Once back, they dodged the guards and escaped from the Queen’s castle.
“We’re safe now,” Select sighed.
“Yes, I was really worried about not making it out alive,” Max said.
“But we did it,” Kate reminded them.
The trio was relaxed until a shot hit Max in the chest, and she fell to the ground.
“Max!” Select shouted, while Max gasped on the ground, bloodied.
“If I were you, I’d ask for help,” Smith said with a smile behind him.
“You bastard!” Select shouted, trying to approach, but Smith aimed the gun at him.
“Right now, I’m the only one who can save your friend with my team. So take me to Excalibur.”
“If Max dies, consider yourself dead,” Select threatened.
“Max will consider himself dead if you don’t obey me right now, Select.”
